"You'll be a promising slut". That was the last sentence she heard her uncle say as he whisked Skai away from her mother's arms, she could hear her struggling voice as she was trampled upon and Skai, sold to the world. In a world where males are given accolades for portraying evil, Skai makes it her quest to destroy and exact revenge on the two monsters that took away her happiness, even if it means disguising herself and learning the skills of a male to fit in the male world.

“You are weak, just like your father!” He cackled, the dark figure said, but he wasn’t faceless this time, his scrawny smile pushing my fears forward, his arms pulling me away from my mother’s reach. “Skai!!” I heard my mother scream for me, her eyes welling up with tears “Please she’s all I have” I heard her wail, Tilard, my uncle had no ears but wouldn’t listen as he whisked me away. “You’ll make a fine slut” he said smiling mischievously, the last I heard before it was all pitch black and my own voice. Adjusting my sheets, opening my eyes to see the room still, ragged clothes on the floor, the spilled cans of vidkon beer sprawled on the floor, the cold sweats on my face, I used my hands, trying so hard to wipe them away. “It’s the same dream, all over again” I muttered to myself as I looked at the mirror in the washroom, my eyes gaining dark circles, looking down to my chest, my body bare. “Roll call!” I heard the matron yell, his voice as hoarse as ever. It was time to get ready, dashing out quickly, taking my black uniform, the black shirt and suit which was always the perfect combo, making me invisible to others, yet I stood out, coming out first in the agency was an amazing feat, one to never be traded for money or anything else. Taking the binder to my chest, wrapping it tightly. It’s been two years in the agency and everyone calls me by name Enzo, the swift killer. I looked in the mirror, my hair getting the best of itself, growing longer, immersed in my reflection, Suddenly there was a loud banging on the door, awakening my mind, causing me to stop. “Enzo, we’re gonna be late” he said from outside, it was Bruno, my colleague and maybe mentee. “Be out in a second” I answered, my deepened voice echoed. The moment I wore the suit, I felt whole again, the female body I owned brought me nothing but pain and futile struggle, now I’m on my path to freedom. “Today, you’ll be dispersed to companies in need of bodyguards, you will be well behaved and show them what you’re made of!” Commander said in a hoarse tone. “Sir, yes sir!” We answered in unison. “Where are you deployed to?” Bruno asked, elated, his calm notion made me smirk “The BER corp” I answered, sliding my hands into my pocket. “That’s so you, great bodyguard, big company” he added, slightly punching my arm. “Thanks, what about you?” I asked, rolling the sleeves of my suit. “Well..I’m going back home, to see my family” he said, his eyes softening. “Goodluck then” I said, patting his back, proceeding to walk away. “I’ll see you when I see you” he said from behind, too focused to look back, I waved slightly, walking to my deployed station. Taking a cab straight to the company was the straightest I’d been all my life at the agency, from code red jobs of saving hostages to silver coat badges jobs of rescuing important people from the clutches of kidnappers, I had never used the front door. Yet, here I am, looking at what seems to be a skyscraper with the large words written ‘BER CORP’, I adjusted my suit, my sleeves rolled to my elbow. “Do you have an appointment?” The lady with a skimmish body feature asked from behind the counter. “Yes, with Juliano Bernard” I said calmly, her eyes looked up to me, watching me as though I didn’t belong in their high end company or have the right to have access to her employer. “Name, please?” she asked, looking down at the computer that sat right in front of her. “Enzo” I answered casually, she furrowed her brows at me. “No last name?” She asked again “No, no last name” I answered, not giving her the benefit of doubt that I’d care if she wouldn’t let me in. “Sir, I can’t check your your appointment without a last name” she said, her voice becoming unsettling. “And I don’t have a last name” I said, almost ticking her off. “I can’t let you in then” she said, angrily. “But I’m going in” I answered and without hesitation two men stood behind me, I could feel their strength from behind, their towering bodies standing firm. “Sir, you have to leave!” She ordered “Take him away” she said, her voice in a high pitch, attracting the attention of others. “Okay, okay, but I think you should first deal with those shady men who just walked in” I said, pointing to the two men in suits who casually walked in by flashing a card at the entrance. “They’re employees” the lady scoffed “No they’re not, they don’t have the employee tag like everyone else, they seem professional and all but by seem to be going to the wrong elevator, the CEOs personal elevator” I pointed out calmly. “Oh my God, get them!” She yelled, realising what had just happened, it was too late for them, the men were already taking the private elevator. “I’ll handle it” I said calmly, rushing after them, using the stairs. ‘My first day on the job and it’s already hectic’ I thought to myself as I raced up the flight of stairs. The huge men who had once threatened to throw me out, following right after. “You both, intercept them using the other elevator, I’ll take it from here” I said, they turned to each other. “Are you seriously thinking right now?!” I said, shaking my head at them. “Okay sir” they said in unison running back to the elevator. It wasn’t my first time on a chase, I ran through, reaching the fifth floor, the CEO’s office hallway. The two professionally dressed men seemed to have caught on, the moment the elevator door opened, they bolted out. “Stop right there!” One of the security guards warned. Intercepting their little run, I rushed at them, taking a baton to his head and hitting the other with an elbow slam, I could see his face topple. They had been incapacitated, slightly. “Get them out of here” I ordered, rolling my sleeves back up, just then a lady stepped out of the room. “What’s going on here” she said, seeing two grown men sprawled on the floor on a Monday morning is not the usual sight to behold. “Hello, my name’s Enzo, I’m the CEO’s new bodyguard” I said, extending my hand for a handshake introducing myself calmly to frightened dark haired lady.Skai’s POV The sun slipped quietly through the thin white curtain, forming golden streaks on the bedspread, and a few rays scattered on the floor. The whole appearance gave the room a soft glow. The hotel felt a bit like home. Giovanni’s house was the exact opposite. The corners had seen more blood spills, like somewhere humans weren't supposed to live. I missed my apartment. I had slept like a log without any feeling of attack at midnight.I walked freely without guards armed loaded and cocked rifles. No sitting behind the monitors, checking for strange movements from Luca's men. For the short while, I felt peace. Just for the meantime. There were dogs growling like they craved human meats.I ripped my eyes open; the first thing that came to my mind was my last mission. I've never tried it, and it felt like a test. One that could cost my life. The world is not a wish-granting factory, and no one would fulfil all of my wishes. I would have liked to stay back in Egypt. To grant these
Skai’s POV An eerie feeling caught up with me. No matter how I pretend not to notice it.I adjusted the scope and peered through the long-range lens, once more searching the sea of faces. My attention landed on the centre of attraction: the customs officers by the water, all stationed at the pier. A man leaned toward a woman with brunette hair, speaking into her ear.It was a rooftop with a direct view of the sea. The fact that Giovanni has everything accurate even in his absence remained a mystery.A delusional part of me expected Matteo to walk up the stairs with his bright smile, stretching his hands forward in request for the binoculars. Or offering to assist me with the footage. I had concluded that no one would help me with the shipments. Maybe it'd be more secretive that way, even though I can't tamper with his shipments. There must be other ways.I scanned onwards; they all looked strange. Of course, this wasn't Italy. Where I knew the officers that work for us. Boss said he
Skai’s POV Sitting behind the desk with my hands placed on my lap, I had arrived there late and hadn't seen Grace confess her crimes – as a recruiter. The female cop stared; forgetting to ask for my ID. “Grace's journal was translated, and she was calculating the amount of debt she was owing. There's a photo of a close friend and her. She isn't a recruiter, just the head of workers. Her plan was to relocate to Egypt; they seized her passports and phones. None of them could communicate with their families. According to her, Frank gets a percentage from their wages, and she only gets to save peanuts monthly.” Her words tallied, and I nodded. Then a brief silence; neither of us talked. The name clicked instantly. Whenever I figured I was almost maintaining eye contact, I switched to the notes on the table. “What country did she travel from?” “Umm, Italy” A little smirk played on my lips. With doubt and anxiety gripping my chest, I knew I'd have to be blatantly honest if I
Skai’s POV The building looked old and dirty. It was located on a lone street. Workers should have good accommodation, but reverse was the case here. The employers didn't care about the health and safety of the workers. The manager even mentioned that she doesn't know where Grace lives. The black van was packed in front of the building. It gave full certainty that we were at the right place. “Six hotels, seven days a week”“I pick them up at 9am and drop them off at the end of the shift,” the driver explained, he looked innocent. The entrance was surrounded by overgrown flowers and trees that were almost the same height as the roof. “Let's try not to overwhelm them.” The officer opened the door. The front door opened to a large room. The house smelt of stale food and cold coffee. The walls were plastered with old newspapers and posters that were peeling off already. Each poster was better than the last.Standing in the house, I was ten per cent fulfilled and ninety per cent hopeful
Skai’s POV The large metal doors of the elevator heaved apart in slow motion. The moment they closed again, my face relaxed into a blank stare. I pressed the ground floor button. The elevator dinged, and the metal door closed, clinking. When the doors parted, I marched to the reception. It was early, and there were just a few people around.“I need to see the manager.” I growled. The receptionist who was going through sign-in documents behind the desk stood up.“Good morning, Ma. You have to calm down and tell me what the issue is.”How was I supposed to calm down when my phone was stolen?“I need to see the manager now.” I slammed my fist on the table, and the lady shrieked.“Okay, ma'am, the manager resumes around 9. Could you please wait until she's back?”“Shit,” I cursed, my hand still on the desk as I looked around. Walking to chair opposite the desk, I sat down and tapped my feet against the ground, making my legs shake.I moved closer, my chest rising and falling with clench
Skai’s POV Giovanni handed me a brown envelope. My heart paused as I removed the single sheet, staring. It said I was travelling to Egypt to control his shipments. My work is taking me overseas. Crazy! My chronicles have always wrapped around the states and Italy. I stood as he and Keller sat on the sofa, their elbows on the armrest. He has black hair and a less-built body, contradicting Giovanni’s appearance. His relaxed demeanour said he was comfortable with the mansion.“All the information of how you'd operate is in there.” He pointed at the envelope in my hand.“Are you sure you can do this?” Keller tilted his head, studying my reaction. He sounded like there was something else to the single paper.“She'll do it,” Giovanni snapped.“All the preparation has been made, Sophia.”“Okay, boss,” I nodded. As if planned, He tapped Keller, and they disappeared into one of the corridors behind me. Leaving me on my feet, I stared at the empty sofa and saw a bunch of keys. I looked around
