"You'll be a promising slut". That was the last sentence she heard her uncle say as he whisked Skai away from her mother's arms, she could hear her struggling voice as she was trampled upon and Skai, sold to the world. In a world where males are given accolades for portraying evil, Skai makes it her quest to destroy and exact revenge on the two monsters that took away her happiness, even if it means disguising herself and learning the skills of a male to fit in the male world.

Warm breath hit my face. I tilted my head a bit, avoiding his murderous and dead eyes – void of emotions. Sweat broke out on my skin, a throbbing headache hit me like a volcano. Hot tears stung the back of my eyes, I fought the tears more than I struggled for myself. “Please leave me!!” I whisper-yelled, my whole strength wavering. I tried to fight, to free myself. What could I do when I felt my bones breaking, his grip too tight on my little arm? My heart hammered seeing my helpless mother wail. “Mother.” I forced the words out of my throat, a bit louder than the prior. “You're weak, just like your father.” He cackled, his arms pulling me away from my mother’s reach. The edge of lips tilted upwards formed a cryptic smile, heightening fears forward. He wasn't faceless this time, at least hiding not hiding beneath his mask. “Skai!” my mother cried. Helplessness curled around my throat like a snake – suffocating. “Please, she's all I have.” Like a feather in the wind, my uncle whisked me away. “You'll make a fine slut.” He smiled mischievously and pressed a white handkerchief on my nostrils. The last he said before my eyes fell, everything turned pitch black. I heard mother's voice from a distance- diminishing. Then, it faded into a lul. My eyes flew open as I grabbed the sheets. Only to see the room still, ragged clothes and spilt cans of Vidkon beer sprawled on the floor. Cold sweats were still on my face. “The same nightmare over again,” I muttered. All these years, I hoped my uncle would stop haunting me, even in my dreams. I kicked off the quilt and walked over to the broken shards on the mirror. My reflection stared back at me with dark circles around my eyes, my hair scattered, making me appear more miserable. “Roll call!!” The matron yelled, his voice as hoarse as ever. I rushed into the bathroom, had a quick shower and dashed out. I picked my usual black shirt and suit – the perfect combo, making me invisible to others. I was quite transparent, but my mysteries remained dark and difficult to see through. Coming out first in the agency was an amazing feat, never to be traded for money or anything else. It's been two years in the agency, and everybody calls me Enzo, the swift killer. I preferred Enzo; I hate appearing dangerous to everyone. Suddenly, a loud banging landed on the door, snapping me out of my little world. “Enzo, we’re going to be late.” He yelled from outside. I'd recognise Bruno's voice, even in my sleep. “Be out in a second,” I answered. My deepened voice echoed. The moment I wore the suit, I felt whole again. The female body I owned brought me nothing but pain and futile struggle; I was on my path to freedom. I stared back in the mirror, the binder hugging my chest making me stretch a bit. I arranged my short black hair. “Today, you'll be dispersed to companies in need of bodyguards. You will be well-behaved and show them your true strength.” The commander said in a hoarse tone, standing in front of us. “Sir, yes, sir.” Our voices were almost in unison; few echoed seconds after. “Where are you deployed to?” Bruno curved his eyebrows, a smile pasted on his face. “The BER corp”, I slid my hands into my pocket. “You deserve better, Enzo. You're strong.” He patted my upper arm. “I'm going back home to stay with my family,” he muttered, his eyes softening. “Good luck then.” I patted his back, and proceeded to walk away, I waved slightly and left. Too focused to look back. Taking a direct cab to the company was one of the linear events in my life at the agency. From code red jobs of saving hostages to silver coat badge jobs of rescuing people from kidnappers. I alighted from the car and paid the driver, and he zoomed off. I faced the large building with the company's name engraved on top, ‘BER CORP’. Adjusting my suit and sleeve, I forged forward. “Do you have an appointment?” The lady with a skimmish body feature asked from behind the reception desk. “Yes, with Mr Juliano.” I had been informed his father was addressed by the surname to avoid misconception. Her eyes grazed over me as though I didn't belong in the company or deserve the right to have access to her employer. “Name, please?” Her face tilted up a bit, staring at the computer in front of her. “Enzo”, my voice came out unexpectedly calm. “No last name?” Her brows furrowed, anger building up in her eyes. “No, no last name,” I stated calmly, without giving her the hint of doubt that she'd let me in. “Sir, I can’t check your appointment without a last name,” her voice unsettling. “I don't have a last name.” My voice was getting louder. I was named Enzo – just Enzo. A last name had never occurred to me, not that I planned to apply for a white-collar job. “I can't let you in then.” She snapped. “But I'm going in.” Two men stood behind me, their towering bodies and muscles standing firm. “Sir, you have to leave.” Her voice was in a high pitch, attracting the attention of people around. “Okay, okay, but I think you should deal with those shady men who just walked in.” I pointed to the men in suits who walked in without inspection. “They’re employees.” She glared at me. “Why do they not have the employee tag, and why are they going through the CEO's personal elevator?” I challenged her, a little building up in me. “They’re employees,” the lady scoffed. “No, they’re not. They don’t have the employee tag like everyone else. They seem professional and all, but they seem to be going to the wrong elevator." I shifted my gaze to the labelled elevator, for the CEO. “Oh my God, get them!” She yelled, realising what had just happened; it was too late for them; the men were already taking the private elevator. “I'll handle it.” My words came out in a rush as I raced up the stairs. The huge men who had once threatened to throw me out, following right after. “You both, intercept them using the other elevator; I’ll take it from here.” They nodded positively. “Okay” they replied, running back to the elevator. It wasn't my first time on a chase. I sped through, reaching the fifth floor, the CEO’s office hallway. The men seemed to have caught on; the moment the elevator door opened, they bolted out. “Stop!” One of the security guards growled. Intercepting their run, I rushed at them, hitting a baton on his head and the other with an elbow slam. His face toppled. They had been incapacitated, slightly. “Get them out.” I rolled up my sleeves, and let out a soft breath. A lady stepped out of the room. “What’s going on here?” Her eyes widened at the sight of two grown men sprawled on the floor. “Hello, my name’s Enzo; I’m the CEO’s new bodyguard.” I extended my hand for a handshake, introducing myself calmly to the frightened dark-haired lady.~JulianoI don't regret a thing. If I had to go through another hard time with Skai, I wouldn't think twice. She went through all those shits, and I wasn't available to help. The attack happened so fast. I didn't know who saved me. But I saw myself in my room. Where I feel guarded. Guarded by the four corners and my mother's portrait.I recovered after the first dose of chemicals. I caught a view of Aver; I wasn't sure if it was truly her.Or my subconsciousness. Margo has a solution.I couldn't be happier. I didn't want to tread on the wrong route. “We have to be strategic about it,” Margo said.None of us laughed. She was serious.I just watched; my eyes were clear.“I'll go… with two of my men.” Bruno raised a hand, his voice sharp and clear.I didn't doubt him, for unknown reasons.Since Skai trusts him, I do too.“Can you do it? I don't want Skai to return there.” Margo turned to him, a flicker of worry in her eyes.“I don't want to put her at risk too,” Bruno added, sounding
~Skai“From now on, I'll be your bodyguard,” Bruno said, smoothing his voice, wanting to sound so real.“I can protect myself,” I mumbled, looking at him from my side view.“I don't want motherfuckers' hands on you anymore.” He said, his voice a bit deeper and louder, as if he wanted to crush Carlo one more time.I swung my hands and narrowed my eyes towards Juliano.“He's still asleep.”He tilted his head in reply and nodded.“Tell me, how did you get to the mercenary, Enzo?” He whispered; the way he sounded almost made me laugh.“I told you. My name is Skai.” I hit his chest slightly. I wasn't sure how many times I'd ring it in his ears.“After I escaped the brothel…there was nowhere to go. I slept on the streets for days...moving from one place to the other.” I coughed; it wasn't the thought of my past. I had a cold.I gulped a glass of water. “After a week or so, one of the founders saw me on the street... He said my necklace belongs to a past member of the agency. Since then, he
~SkaiFear washed over me until I looked in the direction and my gaze met furious Bruno. He was with other people from the mercenary—almost unfamiliar. They were ready—ready to attack anyone that came their way.I rushed to Bruno's side; I wasn't expecting help.I've always been my savior.Carlo wasn't drunk. I didn't catch a whiff of alcohol from him. Only in the room.Trusting him was stupid. I thought he was different. He stormed up, his eyes blazing with fire. And something else. Anger. My main concern was Bruno coming with people from the mercenary. Some faces were new.He went close to Bruno, their eyes met—furious and bellowing.Like two storms that were ready to crash into each other.“How dare you?” Carlo growled. I moved slowly behind Bruno. He didn't respond. He looked like he wanted to crush Carlo into pieces.“How dare you take my woman away?” I scoffed inwardly. He staggered a bit.He was drunk—or maybe tipsy. That didn't justify the reason behind kidnapping me.God. I
~Skai The air felt too heavy to breathe in. The whole thing reeked of things I don't even know. I've been in this situation. My mind whirled back to how I got there. After the meeting and the incident in the car. I peeled my eyes open, searching every corner. It looked like a room in a house—a large and strange room. I wasn't tied up; I was seated on a single sofa placed by the wall. Someone opened the door and entered. I looked up, and my gaze met Carlo, walking towards me with a smile. It wasn’t just a smile, a victorious one as if he just gained something. Probably me. My eyes widened. “Carlo” My voice came out hoarse, but I cleared my throat. He walked closer and sat by the bed. “Have you forgotten when I said no one would have you except me?” He leaned in, his eyes meeting mine. “Did you kidnap me, Carlo?” I gritted my teeth, nose flared, rage brewing up inside me. “Yes, my queen. Because you're mine.” He said, his voice deep and possessive, as if he had every rig
~Skai A lone tear ran down Margot's cheeks; she pulled back the stool, then stood up. “We'll talk later, Skai,,” she said, her voice cracking at the edges. I didn't say a word. I just nodded. She walked past me and left the kitchen. I watched her retreating figure; her white-gray short hair bounced with every step. My heart tightened. — “To Bloom restaurant, Tom,” Juliano said, voice calm and soft. Every while, he'd check my face. If I wasn't nervous or if I needed enough time to process things. The smile never left his face—the joy that I was letting him into my personal space. I wanted him to be involved in a few aspects of my life. “Okay, boss” Tom nodded. I could only see the back from his head from where we were seated. I glanced back a bit, feeling someone's eyes on me. My gaze met Zack seated behind us, eyes filled with disdain, and irritation. There was something about him. I'd told Juliano once but he said Zack has been his bodyguard for years. I didn't push.He
~Skai “No, no.” The words rushed out of my mouth, even though I hated it. The atmosphere became awkward, and I distracted them with a little laugh, revealing my teeth. “What are you saying?” Juliano's eyes morphed into something else, making my chest tight. I wanted to withdraw my statement and say something else - less hurtful and meaningful. What I said was true; we were nothing. Just friends that found their way back to each other, and one was overprotective of the other. I wanted Juliano, I found my solace in him. Sometimes, it seemed Juliano was just showing a soft part of him. But it was something more. Something raw, intentional, and real. The way he looks at me sweeps me off my feet. Like I was a mini god he wanted to worship. “Sophia,” Allysia touched me, snapping me out of trance. Worry flickered beneath her smiling face. “Come on. You don't just zone out like a robot.” She patted my cheeks. “Let’s go.” She pulled me up the chair. I didn't resist. I
