The Ultimatum

Damian’s POV

The question struck me in place like a thunder lightning. I wasn't expecting that kind of question, and now I'm short of what to say.

But before I could say a word, my father adjourned the meeting for another day, claiming he had something important to do. I don't know if he really had something to do or he just saved my ass.

The boardroom cleared slowly, like a courtroom after a sentence no one wanted to carry out but everyone agreed on.

Shoes made of leather tapped on marble floors and the chairs scrapped. Words like "We'll talk about this again" and "Quietly, if possible" kept coming back to me like a draft.

But no one dared to say it loud or look into my eyes.

Maxwell didn't stand up.

He sat at the head of the table by himself looking through the file in front of him like I was just another page to quickly read.

So I waited. Even though I didn't understand why. Maybe waiting while he does that had became my routine or I stood out of obedience. I don't k

Exposure RiskDamian’s POVThe damage was already done, even though the sun wasn't up yet.My phone screen lit up the dark room in a steady stream of vibrations and notifications. The first message caught my eye, but I didn't open it. Before I read anything, my heart was already beating fast. "Anonymous Clip Raises Questions About Vale Heir’s Private Life.” I already knew what it was before I hit play. Yes I already knew. When I finally opened the message, my hands went cold.Unclear video from a drone in a dim light. I recognized the edge of a window very well. Two figures were tangled in the quiet of the night. It was a video of me and Eliot after last night sex. Although, our face was not clear but I knew inside me it was us.My heart was beating so fast that I could feel it in my throat as I sat there, frozen. It wasn't vulgar or explicit, but the picture on the screen was intimate and showed that this was a lover's leaked picture. A part of my life that shouldn't have bee

The Fire WithinDamian’s POVThe note sat on my desk like a live wire.I couldn't look away, even after reading it so many times I lost track. The words burned through my eyes.“If he stays, you fall.”The word was simple, clear, and deadly. The kind of word that you don't get by mistake. Definitely the blackmailer was closer to me than I thought.I looked down at the estate from the window of my penthouse. My clear, sharp reflection stared back at me from the glass. Behind me, the room was quiet. Too clean. Too quiet. My chest ached like something had broken inside. I hadn’t cried. Not yet. But the pressure was right under my ribs, making me want to scream. As I pushed off the desk, my hands were shaking a little. I stood up and paced the room, then stopped. And paced again. I could taste the fear at the back of my throat—like metal. Like shame. The envelope didn't have a name on it. There's no sign of who left it. But it doesn't matter. The damage was done already. The person t

The FalloutDamian’s POVEven though the blow was as loud as thunder, but the quiet that followed was even louder.Aaron's body had jerked back, and he tripped as his shoes hit the marble floor. He hit the side of a decorated table and caught himself with one hand. His eyes were burning and his lip was bleeding as he slowly stood up.I froze in place, my eyes popping out of their sockets. The room stopped moving all around us. The air got thicker. The music stopped in the middle of a note. Near the front, someone let out a gasp. The glasses stopped clicking. People stopped had stop talking, their attention on us.Maxwell abruptly stood from his table, steam coming out of his eyes..He didn’t raise his voice or call my name. He just gave a single nod. The kind of nod that says: “You’re done.”Securities moved quickly and cut through the crowd like a machine. One of them walked Aaron slowly down the hallway, apologizing on our behalf. Another one moved closer to Eliot, not sure whet

Uninvited Guest Damian’s POV I haven't been able to breathe right since Eliot left my dad's office. He didn't say much about what they talked about. Just that Maxwell didn't trust him or anyone else. I already knew that. But I was worried about how Eliot put it. Simple and flat. It felt like someone had scraped something raw inside him. I kept waiting for him to storm into my room, accuse me, and demand to know what was going on after I left him without a word. But he didn't. He just walked his way out of the estate with that same look in his eyes, like he was getting ready for the ground to give way at any moment. I hated it. Because I didn't know how to protect him safe for the first time. Tonight was another party at the estate. It was Maxwell's idea. A celebration for one of his oldest board members, who I didn't know very well. But my dad told me it was important that I should attend. He said it with the same calm edge he always used when giving threats that looked like

The InterrogationEliot’s POVThe knock came right after dawn. Not too loud. Not rushed. It was just strong enough to break the silence. I hadn't slept much and that didn't surprise me.“Mr. Maxwell would like to see you," the quiet voice on the other side of the door said. I sat up in the dark, back against the cold sheets. “In his home.”No one care about me in this house. I'm used to that anyway.I took my time getting ready and looked at myself in the mirror as I buttoned my shirt. The man I saw in the mirror wasn't the same one who walked into that club one months ago.I didn't know who Damian was back then. All I saw was man leaned against the bar, his eyes dark and his mouth hard to read. It had been exciting between us—no names, no promises, just a night. Still, when I woke up, I could remember the way his fingers stayed like he didn't want to let go, the way his mouth was curved, and the way his laugh was rough.I had no plans in seeing him again. Especially with ione

Under WatchDamian’s POVSomeone knocked on my door right after dawn. Not too loud. Not rushed. But deliberate. It was one of the maid checking if I was awake.I was awake already. I hadn't asleep. After last night, Eliot hadn't come back to the penthouse. I didn't blame him. Not after the kiss in the car. The way we held on to each other like the world was falling apart and we were the only thing left standing. Not after I saw the red light blink in the garage ceiling and took a picture of it all. After a few seconds, my phone buzzed.A text message from Maxwell's assistant: "Your dad wants to see you in his office. Right now.”No other details.Just a cold reminder that time was running out—and Maxwell doesn't asked twice. It was silence as I took a quick shower and got dressed.I wore adark gray suit, a black tie, silver cufflinks. The uniform of composure. But I felt empty on the inside. As I pressed cloth flat and adjusted buttons, my body moved without thinking. But my min

Things get tense Damian’s POV The next day, I tried to keep myself busy.Meetings, emails, calls, more meetings—none of it helped. My body was there sitting in chairs, looking at charts, sipping warm coffee. But my thoughts kept going off in different directions. Back to Eliot. Back to the kiss in the hallway. Back to the latest message made my heart seize in my chest.“The next leak goes to the press.”I could hear that message screaming in my head all the time. I had no idea when it would happen. I didn't know the person behind it. I knew I was running out of time, and if that picture got out, it wouldn’t just expose me. It would destroy him, too.Lila had called to talk to me during breakfast that day. Her words were soft and careful, and her voice was quiet. But I knew she was also worried, not just about Naomi or our arrangement, but about me.. I didn't say much. I couldn't form words. The lie we’d agreed to live in felt heavier than ever.It kept us safe from the outside

The PactDamian’s POVThe deal wasn’t written down, because it was simple and straightforward.Lila and I didn't shake hands. We didn't raise a glass, smile, or do anything fancy to mark the deal. We just sat next to each other, eyes clear and hearts tired. In that mutual, heavy, and honest silence, we promised to carry the weight together. It wasn't because we were in love. But because we weren’t. And we finally got the nerve to say it.I sat on the edge of my bed and stared at nothing for a long time after she left my room. Even though I had lived here for years, the room felt strange. The shadows on the wall were longer than normal, as if they were ready for me to step into them. Her voice kept coming back to me.“We protect them by protecting each other.”I understood what she meant down to my bones. But understanding didn’t make it easier. The next morning, we stepped out of the house side by side like a couple in sync. She had slept over because it was late. I opened the
