LYRA’S POV

Darkness swallowed everything.

Not the normal kind the kind you blink through, the kind your eyes adjust to.

No, this darkness felt alive. Heavy. Wet. Throbbing like a heartbeat.

For a moment I wasn’t sure if I was standing or falling.

All I could feel was the hot, shaking grip of Tyris’s hand tangled in mine, and the heat of Rockan’s presence somewhere close sharp, protective, furious. Their breaths were the only proof that I wasn’t already lost to the thing crawling inside me.

Then something moved in the dark.

A scrape.

A sigh.

A whisper that wasn’t mine, but came from deep behind my ribs.

He fears you now.

I stiffened. Not again.

“Lyra?” Tyris’s voice cut through the shadows, strained. “Lyra, stay with me.”

I swallowed the tremor crawling up my throat. “I’m here.”

His grip tightened like he was afraid I’d vanish.

Rockan shifted in front of us. I heard the faint slide of his boots on stone, the slow exhale through his nose as he prepared for impact. His silhouette glowed

  • In Love With The Scared Alpha    Light out

TYRIS’ POVThe world snapped back into place with a violence that rattled my teeth. For half a heartbeat, I couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t think. Couldn’t even remember where the hell I was. My vision swam in a haze of sparks and burnt shadows, and the air smelled like scorched metal and blood my blood, maybe. I had no idea. The floor beneath me vibrated like something massive had just moved beneath it, and the echo of the Devouring Hand’s laugh still slithered down my spine. Then everything hit me at once.Lyra’s scream.Rockan’s roar. The darkness swallowing us.And the voice gods, that voice curling into my skull like a hook and yanking hard.*You will serve a purpose yet, Tyris. My stomach flipped. My hands shook. I pressed a palm to the floor and forced myself upright even as my body protested with sharp, white-hot flashes of pain. My head felt split open from inside, like something had tried to root itself behind my eyes.Something still there, maybe.I swallowed hard, trying to f

  • In Love With The Scared Alpha    The sigils

Rockan’s POVThe lights died so completely that for one suspended heartbeat, even my wolf went silent.Darkness like this wasn’t natural. It wasn’t a simple power failure. It was intentional precise, consuming, engineered to disorient.I tightened my hold on Lyra, reflexively pulling her behind me as my senses sharpened. My vision adjusted faster than a human’s would, but even for a Terrian blooded Alpha, this darkness pressed like a physical weight. It tasted wrong. Metallic. Cloying. A shadow with a heartbeat.“Rockan…?” Lyra whispered from behind my shoulder, her trembling fingers curling into my shirt. That single, fragile sound did more to ignite my instincts than any enemy ever had.I positioned myself in front of her, muscles tensed, every protective instinct blazing through my veins.“It’s alright,” I murmured, though it wasn’t. “Stay behind me, don’t move.”I listened deeply, the way my father taught me, the way the Alpha King in me had perfected. At first there was nothin

  • In Love With The Scared Alpha    Swallowed

Lyra’s POVI always thought fear had a shape.A shadow, a monster, a darkness creeping just beyond the edges of the world. Something you could point to and say:There. That’s what I’m afraid of.But as I stood in that dim hallway with Rockan’s confession echoing in my bones, I realized fear wasn’t a shadow at all. It was a sound the silence that follows a truth you weren’t ready to hear.He loved me.Loved me enough to break.Loved me enough to bleed without a wound. And now I couldn’t breathe. The corridor felt too narrow, the walls too close, the air too still despite how cold my skin felt. My fingers trembled as I pressed a hand to my sternum, as if I could force my racing heart back into something that resembled logic. But logic was gone.Ripped apart with one sentence.“I would die for you, Lyra.”I hadn’t imagined the way his voice cracked. The way something old and armored inside him fractured like shattered steel. Rockan didn’t break easily. He wasn’t built to. He wasn’t allow

  • In Love With The Scared Alpha    Just a war

ROKHAN’S POV…But even as the council dissolved into movement voices overlapping, maps sliding, scouts sprinting down hallways the weight of the revelation settled like stone in my gut.Someone wanted me taken. Not killed. Taken. My father once told me that death is easy to fight. Death is simple. It comes, you resist, it takes you or it doesn’t.But capture capture is a thousand deaths stretched across the bones of your sanity.I felt Lyra’s hand still in mine.Warm. Real. Anchoring. She squeezed it once before letting go. Not because she wanted to… but because we both knew too many eyes were on us. Too many assumptions. Too many secrets already hovering like ghosts thick enough to choke on.Tyris rolled up the new map and stepped closer to me. Sometimes I wondered if he did it deliberately the way he stood just a fraction too close, like he wanted to remind me that he and Lyra had fought wars together long before I stepped into this story. He lowered his voice. “You need to stay ins

  • In Love With The Scared Alpha    Awakening

Lyra’s POVDarkness wasn’t empty. That was the first thing I realized. It wasn’t a void, not a numb, peaceful blank space like the healers always claimed patients slipped into during unconsciousness. No — this darkness was alive. It breathed, a slow, ancient inhale that pulled at the edges of my mind like it wanted to swallow me whole. And then…A voice.Soft. Familiar. Terrifying.“Little spark.”My eyes snapped open.Except… not in the healing room. Not with Rockan holding my hand. Not with the cold quartz beneath me.I stood barefoot in a forest that should not exist — towering black trees, their branches twisting like skeletal fingers against a blood-colored sky. The air smelled like smoke, metal, and something older than either.I recognized it.Not from memory. From instinct.Droxan’s realm.I spun, heart hammering, and there he was.Leaning against a twisted tree as if he’d been waiting centuries for me tall, dressed in shadow stitched into the shape of a man, his eyes like bur
