The jarring sound of the alarm interrupted Kate's sleep as she rolled over on the bed, using the pillow to cover her ears.

As usual her alarm goes off by six am and she wakes up to prepare for the day but today, of all days, she was not rushing off the bed as usual.

Irritated by the sound of the alarm which made its way through the pillow on her ears, she pushed the pillow off and stared at the duck shaped clock.

A day won't hurt, right? She can sleep in and turn off the alarm instead of living like a robot as soon as the alarm goes off.

A small smile crawled up her face as the idea of living a different life, even if it was just for a day, crossed her mind and she turned off the alarm.

Sighing with relief as soon as the blaring noise was turned off, She snugged her bedsheet closer and closed her eyes.

Yet she wasn't feeling okay. She wanted to rebel but the idea of rebelling was still strange to her. She can't believe that for the first time in a long time, if not Since she was born, she was sleeping in, instead of doing as her mom had always taught her, following the alarm clock and working at the time.

She rolled on the bed for sometime, her body feeling uneasy at the sudden change in pattern.

True, Rome wasn't built in a day, she can't expect that her body would be okay after skipping a normal daily routine.

But what was the need of waking up early? There wasn't any class today but ballet practice so why should she be up by this time when she wouldn't be in class?

After about what seemed like fifteen minutes of rolling over on the bed and fighting the urge to get up, she finally got up from the bed and walked lazily to the bathroom.

Even though it was just barely fifteen minutes or so she felt so relieved and lighter as she realized that she had just passed a huge moment in her life ... skipping her mother's routine and doing as she wants.

The usual rushing to get ready was changed to a slow and calm movement as Kate walked around the room trying to arrange her room.

She finally took her bath and dressed up in her ballet dress before grabbing her bag and walking out of the room.

The door opposite hers was still closed and there was no sound coming out of it and she knew immediately that her roommate was either still asleep or has gone to the practice room.

She rushed down the stairs and flagged a taxi to the practice room, her head twirling around the things that happened to her when she saw Grace and Liam together.

The sound of classical music as she walked down the practice hall to the room where they dance, filled her ears and she walked to the door.

She pushed the door open and walked in, the sound of laughter, sighs, And the smell of feminine sweat and perfume hit her nose.

Among the rest practicing and dancing was Grace who was on her toes, her hands gracefully hanging in the air.

She turned to look at the door that opened and her eyes made contact with Kate's. The fact that kate was at the practice room, by that time, made her feel greatly uncomfortable because she couldn't practice in front of her.

Pretending not to see Kate, Grace turned her face to the other side and continued practicing.

Kate saw the look Grace gave her before turning her face away and purposely ignoring her and she scoffed.

"If you can act like you didn't see me, well, I can too," She muttered and walked past Grace pretending not to see her also.

As usual, she plugged in her earphones and started dancing but this time it was different from her usual graceful ballet steps.

She was twirling around but in anger. The image of Liam together with grace, the look on his face when she saw both of them together last night and how they all pretended like she was still a child and wouldn't understand what was going on.

It all made her angry, especially the fact that after he dropped them off, Liam tried to kiss her.

The fucking audacity of the guy! To try to kiss her when he has been messing around with her roommate.

Her twirls weren't as smooth as it usually was and she fell a couple of times all because she wasn't concentrating as she usually does.

"What's wrong?" The sultry voice that usually irritates her called and she turned to see Grace looking at her with a smirk.

"What do you mean?"

"Your turns were rusty and I saw that you fell a couple of times. It's unlike you so what's the matter?"

The question annoyed her so bad that she wanted to grab her hair and push her on the floor but she stopped herself and gave a short laugh.

"Nothing.. I'm just tired and I have a headache," She lied.

Grace nodded her head and watched as Kate bent down to pick up her bag.

"Guess who I heard is around?" She asked, hiding the smile on her face as she anticipated Kate's reaction.

Kate turned to look at her.

"Who?"

"Lucas! I heard he's back in town and boy, the rumors about him being hotter than ever had better be true!"

But contrary to her expectation, Kate didn't react as she had expected her to, instead she simply gave her a forced smile and continued untying her shoe.

"I need to hit the gym," She finally muttered Loud enough to be heard by Grace.

"Oh really? I think you should. You look like you've gained some weight."

That did it! Gained some reaction from Kate because she immediately stood up and glared at Grace.

"No, I didn't. I look the same as I did two days ago, a week ago and a month ago."

Grace hid a smile and nodded her head.

"Alright, fine. You're on your way to the gym, right? I'll go with you."

Kate didn't say anything and simply walked out with Grace trailing behind her.

They got to the gym and worked out in silence with Grace casting confused look occasionally at Kate.

"So.." she started, trying to get Kate's attention.

Kate looked up at her.

"So you don't want to talk about Liam?"

It was unusual to her because their usual conversation was about Liam because every single time, she's always telling Grace about how she finds it hard to hide what she feels for him.

Kate shook her head.

"No. I'm good."

The bland statement confused Grace and Kate noticed it, glad that she had finally been able to mess with Grace.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Grace asked.

"I'm fine and not hiding anything from you. You're my best friend, I'll tell you every single thing."

Chapter 49 The afternoon sun streamed through the windows of Kate’s apartment, casting a warm glow over the living room. She sat on the couch, her phone pressed to her ear, listening to her mother’s excited chatter about wedding plans. Her mother’s voice was animated, filled with the kind of enthusiasm that only a parent could muster when discussing their child’s future. But Kate’s mind was elsewhere, her thoughts swirling with uncertainty and a growing sense of unease. “Mom, I’m not ready to get married,” Kate finally interjected, her voice firm but gentle. She twisted a strand of hair around her finger, a nervous habit she had carried since childhood. “I still have so much to figure out. College, my career, this baby… I just don’t think now is the right time.” There was a pause on the other end of the line, and Kate could almost picture her mother’s face—her brows furrowed, her lips pressed into a thin line of disappointment. But when her mother spoke again, her tone was softer, m

Chapter 48Kate lay in bed, the soft morning light filtering through the curtains of Seth’s bedroom. The sheets were warm, the room quiet except for the steady rhythm of Seth’s breathing beside her. She turned her head slightly, watching him as he slept, his face relaxed and peaceful. The events of the previous day replayed in her mind like a vivid dream, each moment etched with emotion and significance. Her thoughts drifted to the meeting with Seth’s father, Edward. It had been a whirlwind of introductions, apologies, and unexpected warmth. Edward had greeted her with a kindness that immediately put her at ease, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled. “I’ve been trying to get Seth to bring you home for months,” Edward had said, his voice tinged with amusement. “But he’s been like a goofy kid, always talking about you but never actually introducing you. I was starting to think you were a figment of his imagination.” Kate had laughed at that, the sound light and genuine.

Chapter 47Kate sat in the waiting room of the clinic, her fingers nervously tapping against the armrest of the chair. The test was just a formality, she already knew. The subtle changes in her body, the fatigue, the nausea, it all pointed to one thing. But she needed to see it for herself, to have that confirmation in her hands. When the nurse finally called her name, Kate followed her into the examination room, her heart pounding. The doctor was kind, her smile reassuring as she handed Kate the results. “Congratulations,” the doctor said warmly. “You’re pregnant.” Kate stared at the paper, her vision blurring with tears. It was real. She was going to be a mother. Later, as she sat in her car, Kate took a deep breath and dialed her mother’s number. The phone rang twice before her mom picked it up. “Kate?” her mother’s voice was hesitant, almost apologetic. “Mom,” Kate began, her voice trembling. “I… I need to talk to you.” There was a pause, and then her mother said sof

Chapter 46The theater was alive with energy, the air thick with anticipation as the finalists took their places backstage. Kate stood in the wings, her heart pounding in her chest. The stage lights glowed brightly, casting long shadows across the polished floor. She could hear the murmurs of the audience, the rustle of programs, and the occasional burst of applause. This was it. The moment she had worked for, sacrificed for, and dreamed of. Her fingers trembled as she adjusted the straps of her costume, the delicate fabric shimmering under the dim backstage lights. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath, and let the music of her routine play in her mind. This wasn’t just about winning anymore. This was about proving to herself that she could rise above the expectations, the pressure, and the noise. “You’ve got this,” a voice whispered beside her. Kate turned to see one of the stagehands, a young woman with a kind smile, giving her an encouraging nod. Kate nodded back, her

Seth had taken her to a quiet, upscale restaurant on the outskirts of the city. The ambiance was warm, the lighting dim but cozy, with a soft hum of classical music playing in the background. Their table was near a window, giving them a view of the city lights shimmering in the distance. Kate played with her napkin, trying to suppress the nervous energy bubbling inside her. Public dates weren’t their thing. At least, not until now. Seth, ever composed, reached for his glass of wine, taking a slow sip before meeting her gaze. “You’re quiet,” he noted. Kate glanced at him, picking at her food. “I was just wondering…” She hesitated before finally asking, “Why now? Why are we suddenly out in the open like this?” Seth leaned back in his chair, exhaling. “Because I don’t want to hide anymore.” Kate raised an eyebrow. “You didn’t mind hiding before.” “I did.” His voice was soft but firm. “I just didn’t realize how much until recently.” Kate set down her fork, tilting her head s
