Chapter 3: The Prophecy

POV ALFRED

... A spear going through my heart? I listened to Akira comment.

Not only is she stubborn, she is also sarcastic.

I sigh in boredom that I wasn't there to spice up this conversation even more. I would say something like:

" Mr. Jeremy wishes to test?" I am amused at the thought.

It's a shame that the two of them walk away until they completely disappear from my sight. Soon the gate closes with great intensity. The men in black glare at me after lining up, forming yet another wall to protect the Rockefellers. And guess what, this one is just as easy to breach as the other. However, I don't have to be a wild animal every time. I reach into my coat pocket for a bottle of booze, take small swigs, and it doesn't take long for their teeth and lips to quiver with desire for a bit.

" Are you served?" I stretch the bottle towards them.

Mister Jeremy won't know. He's in there drinking and eating the best, fuck you guys out here."

First, indecision dominates in their gestures and glances. However, the cold is devastating to men of only flesh and blood.

" We'll take some."

They speak in chorus and I look around for another bottle to cheer them up.

" So, does this dinner have a special reason?" I pull conversation.

" The Boss's son came in today and wanted to see the strange girl” Says one of the men.

" I think he is in love. That's the only explanation for coming to this end of the world after a wild girl", Replies another.

And my desire is to break his teeth for calling Selena wild. However, I need to control my instincts.

" Or if he is like a father, there is something very special and important about having this girl on his side .."

Observes a third man and that's exactly what I think, I just need a confirmation and I know where to find it.

" I'm going, you can keep the drink."

I walk away from the mansion in search of a safe place where I can release my true self....

✧✧

I feel angry for leaving Akira in that damn mansion. I know I promised to wait for her as long as the dinner lasted. However, many doubts unsettle my heart. Having been so close to her face today and feeling her breath has made me believe that my entire existence depends on how much I can do to protect her.

But I am not failing today by leaving her alone with them. I know they won't do anything to her. Now Akira is the greatest triumph Lord Jeremy possesses, and as for me, I am left with old mother's advice and words of wisdom.

So I run as fast as I can, not on two legs, but on four legs, my body full of fur, my whiskers touched by the cold wind, and my sense of smell assuring me that it's not far to Akira's house.

I spot the window, take a sharp leap, cross the ajar panes of glass, and encounter Akiraa's supposed parents.

"Old Mom, I'm back, I left her safe like you asked. Now they know we are around and keeping an eye on them."

I speak telepathically as I leave my wolf form and keep them company in my human form.

"That family is so contaminated, have you forgotten that we can smell them from a distance before you even get in a jump through that window."

Jokes old dad.

If Akira were here, he wouldn't make jokes. He would still be working on his spear project and maintaining his disguise as a sullen father.

Both the old mother and the old father took on the mission of caring for the child who fell from the sky to fulfill the prophecy, we all know her, except Akira. She claims to be so intelligent, but has she never wondered why she is so different from the rest of us? Even a blind man could see that she is not the daughter of the old mother and father. And I don't even mean the wild spirit magic they carry for being the last chosen among us, until the day they will forever turn into wolves and become immortal.

" That's what I want to talk about, old mother and old father."

I sit down on the wooden floor and look at the two sitting at the table, ready to listen to my fears.

" How could the guardians have chosen someone who clearly doesn't like who we are? Doesn't like our land, our customs. Obviously Akira will choose their side. "

I feel like a loser before the battle has even begun and there is nothing worse than this feeling for a warrior.

" Because to defeat the enemy, we need to know their weaknesses. Who among us could do it? Me? Old Dad? You? Any of our people? She is the only one who can stand with them and not risk being killed, at least for now. "

I reason over her words and cannot disagree there is no one I would make so close to the Rockefellers but her. I like the idea a little bit already.

" But can Mr. Jeremy really take our land?"

I don't know to what extent the old mother as a guardian will know about the future.

"I don't understand the laws of men, my son, I understand our sense of belonging to this place. These lands are sacred to us and we must fight for them. And if it were easy for Lord Jeremy to get us out of here, he would have done it already. Selena is the key to the mystery. "

I understand and will not forget this information. However, there is something more intimate that I need to talk about. A warrior does not coward before a battlefield, nor before his heart:

"I like Akira and I know that she is destined for the warrior chosen by fate. I don't want to delude myself, I wouldn't know how to give up my love any more than I would give up a war."

The old mother and father laugh, finding my confession very funny. I feel embarrassed, and if I were in the form of the wolf, my butt would surely be goosed.

" Alfred, who do you think will be the Alpha who will fight on Akira's side?"
