(Izobel’s POV)

“What happened to you?” Janice’s eyes widened as she saw the dirt on my clothes and the band-aid on my elbow. She left whatever she was doing to stand up and walk to me, checking on the dirt in my dress.

I glanced at my clothes. “Oh! I slipped,” I grinned at her. “I didn’t see the slope, and I went straight to the lake, but I’m fine.”

“She seemed excited to swim,” Ethan said, not smiling. “Call the animal welfare. When you’re done, come to my office.”

“Umm… That’s what I was about to tell you, but our landline phones were having some problems, but I already asked the technicians to check on the lines,” Janice reported.
