The Wolf Gang Men

Tonight. Angie had prepared everything. Tonight, she would get the big news after she had made a deal with Arok. In her usual nightclub, Angie would see the faces of the other members of the Wolf Gang.

Angie had not seen Maxime at all after talking to him that time. Frankly, she was curious. Why had Maxime bothered to warn her? Was there something that Angie did not know? Similar questions filled her mind, but she could not back out. How could she waste such a great opportunity? Besides, she had promised Arok.

"Tonight, will go well. I have a good feeling. Cheer up, Angie," she muttered.

Angie left for the nightclub immediately after making sure all her equipment was in place. Rai had been calling Angie since the afternoon, but she ignored him. To ensure that Rai would not interfere with her mission tonight, Angie texted him that she had important business to attend to and would not be able to return calls for a while.

As usual, Angie's arrival was immediately greeted by the same hostess. The woman wondered why Angie had come alone, and she told her that her intentions were different this time.

"Any special guests tonight?" Angie asked. She sat at the far table near the wall. The nightclub was somehow less crowded tonight.

"That's right, Miss Angie. I overheard the manager's conversation with Pink earlier, there will be a special guest tonight. Almost all the hosts and hostesses here have been asked to serve the guest."

"Pink? You mean that legendary hostess that the wealthy guests always book?"

"That's right."

Angie still pretended not to know. "Oh, then how come you can still serve me? And how come I can come in when there's this special guest?"

The hostess smiled slightly. "Some other guests will be allowed into the club tonight, but they are limited in number. When the manager feels there are enough, the next guest will be denied entry."

Angie nodded. "Oh, I see. By the way, I don't know your name."

The hostess smiled. "Petal."

Angie raised an eyebrow, clearly confused. "Wait, what? Petal, is that a stage name? Like Pink?"

The hostess chuckled. "Actually, it's my real name. Since it sounds weird and might be unique to some people, it's also my nickname around here."

Angie whistled softly. "Yes, it is unique. Do you know who the special guest is?"

Petal shook her head. "I heard it was a member of a certain group...um, I overheard, what was it? Wolf?"

"Wolf Gang?"

Petal nodded. "Yes, it is! How do you know Miss Angie?"

Angie grinned. "Not really, I just happened to hear the name. So how many people are coming?"

"Probably three people, and a wealthy young man who is also a regular here."

"Arok?"

"Right."

Angie smiled slightly. That meant all her plans with Arok were going as they should. She just had to wait for them all to arrive.

"The usual drinks, miss?" Petal offered.

Angie nodded. The hostess then went to fetch the drinks while Angie sharpened her eyes and ears. Her eyes darted around, taking in every visitor who entered the nightclub. There was nothing suspicious, nor did she see any unfamiliar faces. Most of the patrons tonight Angie had seen before. The nightclub regulars.

Petal returned with two bottles of drinks, poured them for Angie and returned to keep the woman company.

"Tell me, why do I only see the faces of people who usually come here? Why..."

Angie's speech stopped as the front door of the nightclub opened. Nearly all of the patrons, absorbed in their own activities, suddenly stopped and turned their heads. Arok was there, walking in the middle with three other muscular men in tow.

"Are they..."

Petal immediately straightened her sitting position. "Please don't look at them, miss."

Angie frowned. "Why?"

"You'd better not get involved with them."

Petal's whispered words made Angie cautious. She obviously could not take the woman's advice, for her purpose in coming tonight was for them. Angie's fingers moved, reaching into her sling bag and gently pulling out the pen-shaped spy camera she had prepared.

"Would you like to write something, Miss Angie?"

Angie glanced at Petal, then put on a friendly smile. "Um, yeah. Can you get me a piece of paper?"

Petal nodded. "I'll look for it first, but I can't promise if the paper will be good enough."

"No problem."

After Petal left, Angie immediately aimed the spy camera at the right angle. She caught Arok's eye briefly before they both looked away to avoid suspicion.

The hosts and hostesses of the nightclub immediately circled around, trying to get their attention. The faces were distinctly different. Angie still did not fully believe that these people were actually from the Wolf Gang. As she remembered, the Wolf Gang was very private. Even if they came out, their identities would be hidden. But why, why did they seem careless now, revealing their identities at will?

"Probably because they're just low-level members," Angie muttered.

Angie frowned as she watched Arok tease the men. His act was really flirtatious. Angie got goose bumps watching him. Still, Angie did not fail to point her spy camera at them.

It was really frustrating. Angie wanted to get closer to them. She wanted to hear everything they said. Let's just say Angie was greedy, but she needed more material to make her news even more phenomenal.

"Miss Angie?"

Angie was startled when Petal returned. The hostess was also surprised by Angie's reaction. She handed her two pieces of paper.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

Angie nodded stiffly. "Yes, fine."

Petal sat down with Angie again. She noticed the woman's strange movements.

"Are you really all right, Miss Angie?"

Angie just nodded again. "Don't I look okay?"

"Sorry, it's not that. It's just that..."

"Hey, did that guy sitting with Arok ever come here?" Angie suddenly changed the subject.

Petal glanced at Arok's table for a moment before meeting Angie's eyes again. "Actually, yes. I remember their faces."

"When?"

"I forget, not too long ago. Maybe a few months ago. He came with Arok, too. But..."

"Hey ladies, can I join you?"

Angie and Petal were both caught off guard. Both looked up to see one of the men with Arok coming over to their table.

Angie quickly tucked her spy camera into her pants pocket. "Sorry, do I know you?"

The man crouched down and grabbed Angie's palm. "Then let's get to know each other."

Angie glanced at Arok's desk and gave him a questioning look, but Arok shook his head as if he knew nothing.

Angie pretended to be friendly. She did not want the plan to fail this time. So she smiled at the man as sweetly as she could.

"Okay, what's your name?" she asked.

"You should know," said the man.

Angie was surprised. Her fingers were still in his grasp, but they were slowly tightening.

"Wait, what are you..." Angie groaned as her hand began to hurt.

The man's grin widened. His gaze was straight at Angie, so sharp it looked like he was peeling her back.

"You're that journalist, right? Angie McAlister."

Angie was shocked. How could he know that?
