"You have to come with us."
Angie backed away. One of the Wolf Gang members grabbed Petal's hair, who was cowering in fear, and wrapped her arms around Angie.
"Aaaaaah...!" Petal screamed. She was forced to walk with her hair violently pulled. The Wolf Gang man casually kicked Petal in the back until she bounced off and hit the wall of the nightclub.
"What are you doing, asshole!"
Angie growled angrily as she saw Petal's forehead bleeding from the impact. Unfortunately, Angie's anger was no match for him. Instead, the Wolf Gang man burst out laughing as if he was very pleased to see Angie angry.
"I'll say it again, come with us."
Angie shook her head and spat in front of the man. "I'm not going with you."
"Don't be so arrogant. You're just a lowly journalist. The Wolf Gang can kill you at any time."
Angie grinned. She knew that the threat was no joke, especially coming from a member of the Wolf Gang. There had been many mysterious deaths over the years, suspected to be the crimes of Wolf Gang members, but none of the police in this country had been able to catch the boss. Angie could have died today. But for some reason, she was even more eager to confront the Wolf Gang man to get more information.
"Try me. I'm sure you're not here to kill me."
The Wolf Gang man snorted hatefully. "So confident. What if we were hired to kill you?"
"If that were the case, you wouldn't have come in so openly, made a scene in the nightclub, and then suddenly invited me along. Do you think I'm stupid? I've dealt with people like you before. Don't underestimate me. Tell me, what did your boss tell you to come here and take me away?"
The Wolf Gang man's expression changed instantly, and just by looking at him, Angie was convinced that her guess was right. There must be another reason why they wanted Angie. The problem was, what did they want with Angie? Like they said, she was just a journalist.
"What do you want from a journalist like me? Information?" asked Angie.
"You just have to come with us."
Angie ran as the man tried to pull her up. The nightclub was in chaos and her plans with Arok were ruined. If Angie managed to escape now, what would happen to Arok, Petal, and the other people in the nightclub? Angie is not a person with such a high sense of humanity that she wants to save everyone, but if she can, she wants everyone caught up in the chaos at that nightclub to survive. Angie also did not want to bear the mental burden if they all died while Angie managed to escape alone. That would be too terrible.
"Just tell me what you want me to do. Maybe I can consider whether or not to go."
The Wolf Gang man laughed. "You think you can bargain with us, huh?"
"Why not?"
"We're not asking, we're ordering."
Angie shrugged casually. "Well, then I'm sorry, but I have to refuse."
The Wolf Gang man suddenly ran over and shoved Angie's neck until her back hit the wall of the nightclub. Angie winced in pain. Her neck was being squeezed so hard it felt like it would break.
"Come with us now, or..."
Angie gritted her teeth and tried to take a deep breath even though her neck was being held tight. Angie's vision began to blur, and slowly her chest tightened. If it lasted too long, Angie would really die.
"You're still going to refuse, huh?"
Angie still shook her head. She still firmly believed that these Wolf Gang people must need her for something, and obviously alive. Besides, Angie would be of no use if she died.
The chokehold on Angie's neck tightened. Her body grew weaker and weaker. The image of Maxime's face suddenly appeared. That night, Maxime had warned her not to come to the club tonight, but she still did not know what the reason was and why Maxime's warning was right. How much information did Maxime have about the Wolf Gang?
"Fuck! Turns out you don't want to give up."
The chokehold on Angie's neck was finally released. Angie immediately collapsed and coughed. She immediately took a deep breath, filling her lungs with as much oxygen as possible.
"You're pretty tough yourself."
Angie looked up with a slight grin. "I told you not to underestimate me."
The Wolf Gang man laughed. "Fine. I'll use another way."
Angie was startled. "What do you mean?"
The unconscious body of the nightclub manager was violently pulled up. The Wolf Gang man grabbed his hair, then turned his face toward Angie. A gun was drawn.
"Don't tell me you're going to..."
The Wolf Gang man smiled meaningfully. "I'm sure you understand. Well, you're right. We can't kill you because we need you alive, but that doesn't mean we can't kill the others, right?"
Angie widened her eyes. "What the fuck? What do you mean, huh?"
The gun was pressed against the nightclub manager's temple. The safety was released. Angie cringed as she saw the Wolf Gang man's fingers ready to pull the trigger. One small movement and the bullet in the gun would instantly blow a hole through the nightclub manager's head.
"Don't do that."
Angie stared in horror at the mischievous grin on the man's face. They were not playing around. The trigger on that gun could be pulled at any moment.
"These are the consequences of daring to challenge the Wolf Gang."
Bang!
Angie froze. Her whole body seemed unable to move at all. The gun actually fired. Blood spurted from the nightclub manager's temple, then his body collapsed.
"One person. I can take them all out one by one."
Angie went berserk. Desperately, she jumped up and kicked the man with the hard soles of her shoes. Her kick managed to hit the man in the chest, but then her ankle was grabbed and pulled violently. Angie's body was thrown into the tables and chairs.
Angie crawled on the floor. Her leg was probably sprained from being thrown by the Wolf Gang man. The man then approached and crouched right in front of Angie's face while playing with his gun.
"Say, who else should I shoot? Your favorite hostess, or...?"
Angie growled. "Stop it."
The man laughed. "Things would be easier if you'd just take my word for it. Ah, I thought they were useless to you. I mean, you just need their sensational life stories for your news, right?"
"Stop it."
"So now your humanity is coming out, huh?"
"Stop it!" Angie yelled. She tried to pull the gun away, even though it was right in Angie's face.
"Wasted effort, Angie."
"I don't care. At least I-"
Bang!
Angie startled. The Wolf Gang man in front of her stopped moving. Blood splashed onto Angie's face, coming from the man's bullet-riddled chest. Someone had shot him from the back.
"Who shot him?"

Angie looked up, and as the Wolf Gang man's body collapsed, she saw Maxime and Rai running toward her.Rai immediately hugged Angie. "Oh my God, what are you doing Angie? Are you hurt? Did they hurt you?"Rai's questions were too much, but Angie did not seem to have the energy to answer them. Angie's gaze shifted to Maxime, who was standing near the body of the Wolf Gang man. Maxime's expression did not change at all. As if shooting someone was no problem at all.Maxime looked at Angie and their eyes met. Neither spoke to the other. Angie had no idea what he was thinking. The look in Maxime's eyes was always mysterious. Ah, everything about this man was always mysterious. Angie just realized that she knew nothing about him."Angie, hey!"Angie blinked. Rai's hands cupped her cheeks. Her best friend's face was worried. Angie felt guilty."Are you really not hurt?" asked Rai.Angie shook her head. "I'm fine."Rai breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank God. I thought something had happened to
Angie looked at Maxime. They sat facing each other. Honestly, Angie had been waiting for this for a long time. She needed information. It had been a long time since she had followed Maxime to get information about the Wolf Gang, but instead of information she had gotten dangerous incidents."Max, you said we should work together, but so far I haven't felt the cooperation you meant?"Angie looked at Maxime. She was staying at his house for now. Maxime said that once Angie was involved with the Wolf Gang men, she would be hunted forever."I'm thinking of canceling our deal," he said.Angie's eyes widened. "What? What do you mean, don't decide so unilaterally!"Maxime looked at Angie. The woman's face was full of anger. Just a short time ago, she almost died because she was trapped together with the Wolf Gang men, and now Angie still wanted to find information about the organization?"I am not. I'm just thinking about your safety."Angie chuckled. "No need. I can take care of myself!""O
"Ah... damn it, they really can't appreciate my hard work."Angie complained and grumbled repeatedly while drinking alcohol. She did not know how many glasses she had downed, but she had stopped counting after the third glass."You're drunk, Angie. That's enough."Angie laughed softly as she leaned her head against the table. "I'm still strong, really. I can still see your face clearly.""Miss, would you like me to bring you some water?" A hostess touched Angie's shoulder and helped her to sit in a better position."Yes, please bring her some water. What a pain in the ass."The hostess nodded. She stood up and bowed for a moment, then walked away to get some water.Angie was still babbling incoherently. Her body was leaning against the soft sofa in an unladylike position."Angie, don't drink anymore."Angie shook her head. "Rai, I still want a drink!" Angie exclaimed. The man called Rai let out a long sigh. Angie's behavior was starting to become the center of attention of some of the
"This really sucks," Angie muttered.Angie still could not accept that she was unemployed now. Not completely unemployed, actually. She still had her personal news blog that had enough visitors to make her money. Actually, even without her working for one of the newspaper publishers, she could still support herself through that personal blog as well as some other side jobs with her journalistic skills. Angie just felt unsatisfied if she did not have a definite goal every day. Unfortunately, her free spirit and eagerness to expose every evil in the world is not in line with where she works. They were too afraid to reveal the facts to the point of firing Angie, who was desperate to publish the evidence she found.Angie took her cell phone from her jacket pocket and searched for Rai's number. One call went unanswered. Angie grunted and tried to contact him again. Until the 4th call, Rai did not answer. A few seconds later, Rai sent a message saying that he could not answer the call becau
Angie had made an appointment with Rai. He was actually at an activity, so they only had time to meet briefly before Rai went to his own activity. Normally, they would have met at the place where they usually enjoyed a drink, but this time they met in front of the police station. Rai had warned Angie not to do anything strange."So, what kind of fuss have you made in my absence?"The second the two of them met, Rai's expression turned deadpan. Angie just laughed, feeling very satisfied at her friend's annoyed expression."Relax, I didn't do anything.""So now what? If you hadn't done anything weird, you wouldn't have insisted on meeting like this."Angie reached into her jacket pocket and showed Rai the gold pin. "Here. Do you recognize the symbol on this gold pin?"Rai's brow furrowed at the small gold pin. "Where did you get that?""That's not important. Let's just say, does this symbol look familiar?"Rai gave Angie a skeptical glance. "Don't tell me you stole it from someone?""He
"Come on, you wouldn't do something this reckless, would you?"The man chuckled. "You have no idea what I can do to you."Angie had gotten death threats many times, and she had always survived because she did not dwell on them. This was the first time she had actually been threatened directly.Angie's arms were roughly pulled and then taken to one of the old houses tucked away in the dark alley. She pushed Angie's body until she fell to the floor."Aw, you like to play rough, huh?"The man looked at Angie with cold eyes. "Tell me, who told you to?"Angie frowned. "What? You think I'm someone else's underling?""Don't talk too much. Just tell me who told you to do this. I might be kind enough to let you go."Angie got up from the floor and chuckled softly. "Why, you look very anxious. Are you being chased by someone?"Angie's arms were firmly gripped and then her body was pushed until her back hit the wall. Pain spread throughout Angie's back, but she was still able to smile sarcastica
"You."Angie blinked softly. "What?""You're the payoff.""Huh? Wait, what do you mean?"Maxime chuckled softly. "You know what I mean.""Um, being your maid or something?"Maxime snorted in annoyance and pushed the woman away. "Get out!""Hey, hey, wait. Okay, I see what you mean. I was just joking a bit. You have no sense of humor at all."Of course, Angie knew. She was not some idiot who did not understand what making herself pay was all about. Not that she minded. She could accept it happily. Things like this were very common. If she could get what she wanted, then giving herself up was no big deal."Do you accept?" Maxime asked. At a glance, Angie could see the look of disbelief on the man's face.Angie shrugged indifferently. "Yeah. You asked for it, and I'm the one who offered you something. So, let's do it."Angie offered her palm to Maxime, but he glanced at it with a displeased expression."What? I'm just doing what people usually do when they make a deal."Maxime rolled his
"I-um.... Rai, I think you can go home first." Angie seemed to hesitate as she said it. Maxime's arm around her waist tightened, and Angie could clearly see Rai's shocked expression at her words. "W-What? What does that mean?" Rai seemed ready to scold Angie at the sight of her proximity to the man. He couldn't help but think that not too long ago he had warned her that the man she found attractive could be dangerous. "Okay, um... Maxime, I'm going to talk to Rai for a minute." Angie tried to loosen Maxime's grip on her waist. Unfortunately, the effort was in vain. Maxime seemed reluctant to cooperate as he tightened his embrace around Angie's waist. "Let her go!" Rai raised his voice. The situation between the three of them was getting really serious. Angie felt uncomfortable with people seeing them like a clown show. Come on, Angie had no problem with any image. She didn't care if other people judged her badly. The thing is, Rai is different from her. He is a member of the polic
