Sophia hesitated. Why was he asking her that? Her eyes slid to Mrs. Carter, who had a visible frown on her face.

Her fingers tightened around her coat; her intention had been to bring Aiden and Adeline here, then leave and come back later. She hadn’t planned to stay.

Staying would feel too much like letting Alex back in completely, and she wasn’t ready for that.

She glanced at the twins, who both seemed eager for her to agree to stay, though Aiden hid it way better than Addie.

He was only glancing at her, while Addie didn't hide her feelings. Her big, pleading eyes were impossible for her to ignore, practically begging Sophia to stay.

Her fingers loosened from her coat, and she pressed her lips into a thin line.

“Okay,” she said softly, taking a step closer. “I’ll stay.”

That made her look up. Something soft and assuring settled in her heart. She nodded at his words, and her lips parted; her voice was quieter this time. “Okay,” she said, then added, “Why aren’t you coming back tonight?”Alex's expression eased like something unclenched in his chest just from hearing her ask.“I have to catch a flight to Madrid,” he said. “Meeting with a few investors on a particular project. One of them’s only available tomorrow morning, so I need to be there tonight.”Sophia’s brows lifted slightly. “Madrid?”He gave a faint nod. “Just for a day. I’ll be back by Friday, at the latest. I made sure of it.”She nodded slowly, her lips pressing together. “Alright.”Alex stepped closer again, as if reading the quiet thoughts still circling behind her eyes. “Sophia,” he said gently, “I’ll be back in time for the fun fair. I promise.” His fingers brushed through her arms as he stared down at her.“Alright,” A small smile finally settled on Sophia’s lips, then she added, “I’

“Alright. I think that should be all.” Sophia muttered, tugging at Addie’s bow as she tied it into place.Addie took the last bite of her pancake before glancing up at the mirror in front of her. Her eyes lit up, and a smile tugged at her lips. “Thank you, Mummy.” With that, she jumped down from the chair she had been sitting on before glancing over at the bed where her father was busy helping Aiden with his tie.Sophia placed the hairbrush on the drawer before turning to Alex, who was speaking to Adrian.“Is it alright now?” Alex asked, tugging at the tie. There was a small frown on Aiden’s expression, then he answered, “No. Too tight.”“Oh, let me fix that.” Alex had the same frown on his face as he focused on knotting the tie neatly. For someone who had spent more than half his life in business meetings, always wearing ties and knotting them himself, it was oddly satisfying to see that when it came to a child’s tie, Alex was suddenly all thumbs with frowns and more concentrated, li

  • Is Mr. CEO Our Daddy? Ex-Husband Returns As My Patient   85. How Long

Sophia glanced over her shoulder toward the slightly ajar bedroom door, heart beginning to pound in her chest. Had they been too loud? She thought they’d kept their voices down. She had kids, for heaven’s sake. She should’ve known better. She mentally scolded herself. Her shoulders stiffened, and she met his gaze again, willing herself to stay composed.“I heard you from my room,” Aiden went on, entirely unaware of the fear brewing in his mom’s chest. “You were arguing with someone.”Arguing? A frown settled on Sophia’s brows, then she blinked, trying to comprehend his words.“I–” She shook her head, letting out a nervous laughter before adding, “What?” “Was it Auntie Olivia?” Aiden asked innocently, lifting a brow as he held his mother’s gaze. “You sounded kind of mad.”Realization of what he actually meant slowly settled in.Sophia’s entire body deflated with a sharp breath. Relief flooded her limbs so fast she had to hold the door frame for balance. Arguing. He heard arguing. Wha

The first thing Alex felt was warmth. His lashes fluttered open to the spill of morning light leaking through the curtains. Sophia was asleep beside him, his arm draped possessively over her waist, and her back was tucked against his chest. Her blonde hair was a tousled mess, cascading down her back, and her lips were slightly parted. He let out a slow breath, not moving. She looked so beautiful and peaceful, and his heart skipped a beat at the sight. His eyes traveled over the exposed skin of her neck, down to where the sheet had slipped just enough to tease the swell of her breast. She was completely naked. He hadn't realized when he fell asleep, the last thing he remembered was wearing his boxers and sending a text to Matt. A deep breath escaped his lips, and he glanced up at the ceiling, fighting back the urge to cup her breast and touch her. But then he remembered her words from last night, and just thinking about it didn’t let him do what he wanted to. Alex puffed out a bre

He laughed, lowering himself to brush his nose against hers. “Fair. But I loved you before we started, during, and after. My brain may be rebooting, but the love’s already hardwired.” Sophia smirked, but her eyes softened. “You don't believe me?” He asked, brushing his fingers on her scrunchie, his gaze trailing over her flushed skin. Sophia’s eyes trailed over him as his words sank in. She did. She believed him so much. Bu-bum. Bu-bum. His heartbeats raced. How could she not when she could feel the drum of his heartbeat? A moment passed before she answered, “I do. It’s just the timing.” Alex chuckled low, and his finger brushed against her skin. “Alright. I guess I'll keep saying it until the timing is right.” His gaze dropped, trailing down the length of her arm, catching on the scattering of freckles along her shoulder. They were faint golden flecks he hadn't noticed before. They looked so beautiful, like tiny scattered constellations or even sun-kissed dots.

She gasped, her hand gripping the sheets, the sound pulled from her throat before she could think. He groaned low at her reaction, gripping her thighs more firmly as he dove in again. He ate her like he needed her to believe she was worth worship. Soft, slow flicks. Then deeper, firmer pressure. He didn’t rush at all. He just read her. How her thighs trembled. And the way her hand slipped into his hair and tightened. Her breath turned choppy and fast. She whispered his name, and he looked up, mouth slick, voice husky. “I want you to fall apart,” he said. “Just for me, love.” And she did. He brought her there with slow movement, coaxing her release out, and teasing it out slowly until she was gasping and writhing beneath him, clutching the sheets like they were the only thing holding her together. When she came, her back arched off the bed, her mouth open in a broken sound, her fingers twisted in his hair. He didn’t stop until she was trembling. The aftershocks ran down h
