LOGINMorgan sat behind her desk, her eyes fixed on the documents spread across the table as she worked.
Slowly the door creaked open, and a girl dressed in a chiffon top and black skirt stepped inside. She quietly closed the door behind her and faced Morgan. "Boss, I came to report the low sales." The girl said . Morgan slowly lifted her head and looked at her, her fair skin glowing beneath the bright white lights of the room. " Is that supposed to be my business?" Morgan thundered, causing the girl to flinch. " Why else am I paying you fools if you can't do something about the company?" The girl's face went pale, she instantly regretted coming to report the issue to her boss. But if she didn't report it, who else would? And that would cost her her job. " Morgy Wears didn't become successful because people sat around complaining about problems. You are being paid to solve them." Morgan said, her expression hardening. "Yes ma'am." " Then solve it." The girl nodded quickly and turned toward the door. She hurried out, quietly shutting the door behind her. Morgan picked up her phone and glanced at the time, she had more important things to worry about. Shayla finished the last bite of the croissant and wiped her fingers on a napkin. The cafe had grown quieter, only a few customers left nursing their drinks. "You sure you don't want me to walk you home? You look exhausted." Tessa asked. Shayla shook her head. " I will be fine. You should head back before it gets too late." Tessa hesitated, then sighed. " Alright. But text me when you get in." She pulled Shayla into a quick, tight hug. " And ignore those people, okay? They are just miserable." Shayla nodded, her throat tighten. " Thanks Tessa." Tessa nodded in response and left the cafe. She waited till all customers left the cafe before she cleaned the last tables, switched off the lights, and locked the cafe door. The night air felt colder than before as she started walking home, the mask still pressing against her face. By the time she reached the Wilson Mansion, her feet were aching. She needed to get to her room to rest. She did not want to face her step mum and father. Before she could reach the entrance, a black Camry suddenly pulled over. Shayla paused. The driver's door opened, and Morgan stepped down. Morgan's eyes immediately narrowed, disgust flashing across her face while Shayla gave her a neutral look. Neither of them spoke, Morgan let out a scoff then headed inside while Shayla followed behind her. In the living room sat Alice and Mr Wilson her father. They both sat side by side on the luxury chair, the television casting soft glow on their faces. Shayla immediately slowed down and let out a frustrated sigh. Great! Of all things she wanted after the exhausting day she had, facing her step mum and Dad was definitely not one of them. All she wanted to do was to go upstairs, lock herself in her room and have some peace, but apparently, peace was too much to ask for. Morgan walked past her without hesitation. "Good evening mum, Good evening Dad." She went straight to Alice and wrapped her arms around her, planting a kiss on her cheek before turning to her father and doing the same. Shayla remained standing a few steps away watching them silently. Mr Wilson's face immediately brightened. " How was your day, princess?" "Stressful Dad." Morgan replied with a frown etched on her face as she settled down on the sofa beside Alice. Alice immediately reached for her hand, the motherly smile not leaving her face one bit. "Saw you on the television today and you look absolutely beautiful." Alice stated proudly. Morgan smiled. "Really? " She asked as she kicked her heels off her legs. "Of course sweetie." Shayla's expression remained unchanged but something inside her tightened and she looked away. For a brief moment, the living room disappeared and she was a little girl again. She could still remember sitting beside her parents after returning from school and her dad would ask ask her about her day and her mother would listen patiently. Sometimes laughing at the silly things she said. Whenever she was sad, her mother was always there to pull her into a warm embrace and tell her everything would be fine. Back then, home had felt like home, she had never questioned whether she was loved until her mum died and her father married Alice then Morgan was born. Along the line, her father's attention shifted, the love and care that once belonged to her now seemed to belong entirely to Morgan. Her chest tighten and she pushed down the memory. She wasn't going to stand there and torture herself. "I'm going upstairs." Her father finally glanced at her. "Alright." He replied. She was sure Alice and her daughter heard her but they didn't say anything. Of course she was expected nothing from them. She turned and headed upstairs. Behind her, Morgan's laughter mixed with Alice and her Father's voices. The farther she walked, the more muffled their voices become. She pushed open ber bedroom door and the first thing she saw was a tiny ball of fur running towards her. "Tega!" Her face lit up instantly. She crouched down and scooped the puppy into her arms. Tega barked excitedly, wagging his little tail as he licked her mask. Shayla burst into laughter and all her burdens vanished. Tega and Tessa her friend was the only things that still brought her joy. " Ooh, Tega! I've missed you so much." She ruffled his fur, hugging him closer. Shayla closed the door behind her. Tega followed immediately, still jumping around her legs and barking with pure excitement. She looked at the small cushions on the floor they were scattered everywhere. A playful frown touched her face. She crouched down again and scooped the puppy into her arms. “Such a naughty dog you are,” she said, pouting. “Look what you did to my room.” Tega only stared up at her with bright, innocent eyes and let out a soft bark “Woof!” "Really?" She giggled, then gently set him back on the floor. While he trotted around her feet, she picked up the cushions one by one and put the room back in order. The small task felt strangely comforting after the heavy silence downstairs. Once everything was neat again, she walked over to her vanity table and sat down. For a moment she just stared at her masked reflection in the mirror. Then, slowly, she reached up and pulled the mask off her face. The words hung in the air longer than they should have. Warren didn't move. His hands stayed still against the arm of the chair, eyes fixed on his grandmother like he hadn't heard her correctly."You sent it already," he said quietly, his fingers curling slightly against the arm of the chair.Grandma glanced at him, her brows lifting slightly. "It's for the best, Warren," she said softly."Terminate the contract, Grandma. You don't just expect me to wake up one morning and find out you've sent a marriage contract to someone I barely know, without my consent.""Unfortunately, Warren, the contract can't be terminated. The Wilsons have probably already received it," Grandma replied softly, but it landed hard.Warren's eyes darkened. "You overstepped, Grandma," he said, voice low but steady. For years, he had built his life around control — every decision, every deal, every movement calculated. And now something this large had been set in motion behind his back. If he'd known this was the
The morning sun seeped in through the curtains, casting a warm glow across Shayla's face as she slept soundly. She hummed softly and snuggled closer to Tega, who was curled up beside her.Suddenly, a hard bang on the door jolted her awake. She sat up, blinking against the light, her mind still thick with sleep. She wondered who was banging so hard on her door this morning. Her drowsy eyes threatened to close again, but another bang followed, harder this time. Tega lifted his head, ears twitching, but didn't bother getting up.Shayla dragged herself out of bed and went to the door, pulling it open. Her gaze met Morgan's. Before she could even get a word out, Morgan pushed past her and walked straight into the room, eyes sweeping over everything until they landed on the vanity table with loose sheets of paper scattered across it.Shayla simply stared at her as she crossed the room and picked one up, then another, flipping through them, her eyes glistening with joy."Now this," Morgan sa
A black SUV 2026 model rolled to a stop in the mansion garage. Warren stepped down from the car, shutting the door behind him. with careful steps, he made his way into the building. He entered the mansion, loosening his cuff as the door closed behind him. The large living room was quiet except for the low murmur of voices two women sat on the couch, one in her early twenties, the other in her mid-fifties. His mother, elegant as always, held a cup of tea. Beside her sat Cassie, young, well dressed, and clearly comfortable in the house. Soft laughter drifted through the room.Warren made for the stairs, intending not to disturb them, but things had a way of turning back against him. Before he could set a foot on the first step, both women looked up, their attention shifting to him. He muttered a curse under his breath."Warren, dear!" his mother said warmly, a smile spreading across her face."Warren! You're back! Great!" Cassie said cheerily, standing and walking toward him, a smile li
The office didn’t look like an office. It screamed power and luxury. Floor to ceiling glass walls overlooked the city. A single slab of black Italian marble desk sat in the center, so polished it reflected the lights. No clutter. No paper. Just a MacBook Pro, a black pen and a laptop. Behind it, a black leather chair faced the window. A man sat there, suit jacket draped over the back of the chair, white shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows, exposing the silver Rolex watch and the veins on his forearms. His eyes stayed glued to the laptop across from him on the desk as his fingers made soft clicks on the keyboard. A knock came. He didn’t look up when the door opened and his bodyguard walked in, shutting the door after him. “Sir, Elder Master of Blackgroup wants your attention. I told him you didn’t wish to see anybody, but he insists on meeting you.” His fingers stopped moving. Then he slowly looked up. “Let him in,” he said flatly before returning his attention to the lap
Somewhere above the main floor, behind dark glass doors, the VVIP lounge sat in quiet luxury. Soft golden lights glowed against black marble floors. A long leather couch faced a private glass wall that looked down over the crowded club. A small bar with expensive bottles stood in the corner, and the heavy doors kept most of the noise outside. Two men sat across from each other at a low table. Papers and a contract lay between them. The man in the black shirt leaned back against the couch, three buttons undone, a glass of dark wine in his hand. His expression was cold and unreadable. The business discussion had been going on for a while. The other man smiled a little too widely. “We’ve covered the main terms. If you’d like… I can arrange some company for the rest of the night. Beautiful girls. Discreet.” The man in the black shirt didn’t even look up from the contract. “No.” “Just a suggestion. To celebrate the deal.” “Bringing women in here is like letting bees into a quie
As soon as she removed the mask, cool air kissed her face. She stared at her reflection in the mirror. She touched her face carefully, her smooth skin glowed under the soft lighting, her long hair framed her face beautifully. Her soft full plump lips, flawless white face, her perfectly carved eyebrows, her long lashes resting on her pretty doe eyes, her pointed nose sitting pretty on her face, her face screamed beauty. “Woof!” Tega barked, its attention on the small teddy bear it was playing with. Shayla stared at the reflection in the mirror. Her hand traced down the features of her face. This was the real her, not the face people branded ugly. A sadness free smile appeared on her face as she thought about the many ways society had defamed her beauty simply because she was too beautiful, a scheme her family displayed outside for the world. She was forced to start wearing a mask at age 16, after her mother died. Her father wasted no time bringing Alice home. If she could remembe
