He is what he seems

Erica was thinking about smirit's words....from the very beginning she felt something was off between her mother in law and Kabir but today when she called Anay her only son she felt there is something she doesn't know about!!!!

The way everyone is so intimidated by him...she wanted to know about Kabir but whom she can talk to...none tells him anything about him!!!! She decided to know about him .

In the evening when Erica came down stairs she got to know everyone is out of the house for some inauguration, so she went to make a coffee for herself when Sarita tai came and said "bahu give me the cup I will make it"....Sarita Tai is a 57 year old woman who works for the randhawa family for decades.

"No , Tai I will make it myself let me make a cup for you too and don't bother I come form a middle class background, I'm habitual to do house chores " Erica said

"But now you are Kabir Baba's wife you are not an ordinary girl" saying this she took the cup and made the coffee for both of them.

"Tai, from when you are working here" Erica asked

"It's been years since I was 25-26 I m working for them " tai said

Sipping the coffee Erica hesitantly asked "may I ask you something to you tai??"

"What do you want to ask about bahu?? She said

"Why is Kabir so distant, why is everyone so scared of him and today smriti aunty called Anay his only son , is Kabir not her child " Erica asked

"Bahu , you should not get into these things... it's not important all I want to say Kabir baba has a good heart..he is not like everyone perceives him to be...you just give him sometime..he is like coconut - the shell is so hard but inside he is a gem...I know this" she said avoiding the other question

"Pls tai I beg you please tell me about him you know in what situations we got married and to give this marriage a chance I have to know him ..plz else our marriage will fail , tai please...I will not tell anyone about this please" Erica tried to persuade her

After seeing Erica's pleadings tai took a long pause and then said " Kabir baba is not smriti madam's child ..he is Surekha jiji's son... Sahab's first wife....she was a gem. She died when Kabir was just 10 years old . You haven't seen the child Kabir , he was so soft spoken, innocent, caring and loving ..he was such a happy child" Tai got emotional

Further she said " but after her death everything changed sahab got busy with his office and Kabir baba got so alone..he used to cry in my lap because of the nightmares he was mostly awake at night ...sahab was a good father but he was busy so he couldn't coax him all the time ...Kabir became distant with time...he became very quiet ...after 2 years sahab got married the second time Kabir was not happy with a different woman living in his mother's room.

Smriti madam initially tried to get friendly to him but he never responded slowly she also gave up...now they rarely talk ... Kabir's anger increased with time he started breaking things when he used to get angry he instructed everyone to not interfere in anything which is related to him".

"Kabir is a part of this family but he is only connected to his father that too not so much and about Anay , they both never got along .. neither Kabir likes him nor hates him ..he just doesn't care about him!!!" Tai sobbed a little and then said "and with this you found the new Kabir baba whose only interest revolves around the business empire and nothing else! Tai finished speaking

Erica's eyes were filled with tears...she thought in just a few months of knowing Anay she felt so sad when he left her...and Kabir has suffered so much from such a child's age .

"Anay baba is so much pampered and very loved while Kabir baba manages everything on his own! He does everything for himself on his own whether it's his health, his work , his problems he deals everything on his own. he cares for his own self. Sahab loves him but his aggressive nature and distant behaviour to smriti madam and Anay has impacted their relationship in some way as well!" Tai said

"Bahu if you would have gotten married to Anay baba it would have been easy Anay baba has everything on platter emotional and financially but destiny got you married to kabir baba who has so much money , fame , power but he is emotionally bankrupt. You have to be patient with her bahu that's all I can say to you" tai said and putting the cup on table she went from there , leaving Erica in deep thoughts.

It was 10 pm at night Kabir came early from his office. He got the deal everything was fine but he was not at peace...so he just came back. He was sitting on the sofa with legs wide open when Erica came from the washroom after a shower wearing a bathrob her hair was wet she came and directly stood infront of the mirror without knowing about his presence...

She was drying her hair with a towel when she saw Kabir in the mirror behind her he was gazing at her intently!

She immediately looked back with nervousness in the last one month Kabir never came this early so she didn't expected him at all . They both looked eachother for a berif moment till she said "you came early today!!"

"Kyu nahi aana chahiye tha??" ( shouldn't I have come)

"No , I didn't mean it like that"

Kabir walked past her and went to the washroom , after a while when he came back he saw Erica was doing something in her phone, Kabir was expecting Erica to say something about the morning event........

Coming from the washroom after changing , kabir looked towards Erica who was scrolling the phone..she looked toward him and their eyes met for a nano second and before Erica looked away...

Kabir wanted Erica to say something about Anay's arrival but she didn't say anything so after a brief pause he said " do you want to say something?"

"About what?" Erica said looking at him.

Kabir jaw clenched with her answer and looking directly in her eyes he said

"nothing"!!!

And he stromed out of the room

After he left Erica laid on the bed , she started thinking about kabir's past and her unwanted entry in his life , she thought may be kabir will never accept this marriage but she will try to be nice to him... it's not his mistake that Anay left her , she will not cause any problem to him....he is may be rude but he is the reason today her family and she are not a subject to mockery in the society!!! And today after seeing Anay the way he was , she felt like the biggest idiot who thought a narcissist man like him loves her!!! She understood Anay always thinks about his own self and she was fool to believe he loved her!!! Thinking about all this she slowly drifted to sleep.

In the morning after having breakfast Kabir went to office. While Erica was doing something in the kitchen when suddenly Anay came to her.

"Hii..Erica " he said

Erica just ignored him , and kept on doing her work.

"Erica , look I m sorry, I know you are angry with me but ..plz don't ignore me like that ....you know how much unpredictable I am ....I said yes to the marriage in haste but on the wedding day I panicked so I just kind of...you know...

"Ran away!!" Erica interpreted him in between

Anay got a little embarrassed with the way she said this...but he knew how forgiving and naive Erica is so he said..." You know na I don't really think much before doing something...it just happened baby... actually the problem is not that I ran away..the problem is you had to get married to the Biggest problem itself - the monster Kabir...I know how you must be feeling , I mean you love me and you got married to him , it's very heartbreaking for you!" Suddenly Erica interpreted him in between.

"You are such a shameless man ,Anay"

"Excuse me" he said getting offended

" No you excuse me , you don't even realise your mistake , don't you??? you ran away leaving me in the wedding hall and you are saying it just happened....you know what , I was such a fool to believe we love each other when the truth is a selfish person like you can never love anybody apart from himself....and what you just said my biggest problem is that I got married to Kabir....no you cheater , my problem standing in front of me with no remorse whatsoever!!!! Kabir may be rude but he is not fake like you whatever relationship we have you don't have to bother ,at least our base of this relationship is truth not fakeness and lies!! She said

Anay wanted to say something but Erica stopped him in between saying

"And one more thing , stop babying me next time!!! I would not even want to see your face but because of smriti aunty I'm tolerating you ... don't come near me again ...you make me disgust my own self...you Anay randhawa don't exist for me...and you know in this last one month there haven't been a single day when I didn't curse you from playing with my life... because of you my family didn't talk to me once I am left alone by them .. because after the incident they all she me as token of shame!!!

Kabir was driving towards the office when he remembered he left his file on the dining table itself , it was important for today so he had to go back to randhawa mansion!!!

Kabir reached the mansion and he took the file then he thought of collecting one more file from his office so he walked towards his room when he saw Erica and Anay was having a conversation in the kitchen... Erica's back was visible to him ...but he was not able to hear what they were talking..he thought of walking to them when his phone rang , it was Saurav's call

"hello sir , where are you , we are getting late Malhotra's are here for the contract finalisation."

"Aaaa....yah...I'm on my way" he said while looking towards them.

"And sir please make sure to get the file ok!!!! See you" he disconnected the call

"The meeting is more important , this can wait!" Kabir thought and went away after taking the file.
