~Jacqueline’s POV~

Michael ran round the patio, squirting his twin water from his water pistol. Evans laughed as he got squirted. He ran ahead of Michael. I sat down at the table, which had an umbrella over it. A smile appeared on my face as I watched them. Their laughter relived me a little of the pain I feel inside. I envied them. I wished my childhood was like theirs.

They had parents who loved them, unlike mine who argued every time; a good home and were surrounded by people who loved th

  • Jacqueline’s Dilemma: Chosen By The Tycoon   Chapter 49

~Jacqueline’s POV~I opened my eyes blearily. My eyelids felt heavy. I tilted my head to the side. I could see the people standing at the end of the door faintly. I partially could recognize Daisy because of her clothes. The other two seemed strange and unfamiliar. I tried to sit up but couldn’t. I tried again but my body was too weak to move.“Daisy.” I called softly.Huh? That bleep sound familiar. I turned to the side and caught a glimpse of the vital sign monitor. I could see the screen partially. “Oh, Jackie! You’re awake!” She said worriedly as she hurried to the bed.Daisy sat beside me and stroked my hair. I could hear sniffing and awkwardly wiping the tears in her eyes. Tears equals crying, right? “Wh-what happened? Why are you crying?” I asked curiously. I looked forward and had my eyes at the doctor. Liam had leant against the wall close to the door, with his shoe touching the wall. His eyes met mine. He looked away and heaved annoyingly. He gabbled something as he put

~Rex’s POV~I opened the door and entered my office. I closed the door without looking at it. Oh! What a day! Who would ever believe an hour meeting would eventually turn to three hours? I’m glad it’s over. I let out a sigh and walked towards the table across the room. I turned over the glass and unscrewed the top of the bottle of Hennessy. I poured in some and partially screwed back the top. I walked away from the table, towards my desk. I was almost there when I caught a glimpse of the door opening. I stopped and waited to see who it was. I took a sip of the Hennessy. Paula walked in, with her eyes at the file she was holding. I walked to my seat. I kept the glass on the table. I took off my jacket and hung it behind the chair. I sat down tiredly. “Here is the file you had asked for earlier.” She said as she walked towards the desk.Paula kept the file on the desk. She glanced the glass on the table and furrowed her brow.“What’s with the glass?” She asked airily.I had my eyes a

~Jacqueline’s POV~I did the zip of my skirt. Phew! That was hard. I guess I have to stand on the bathroom scale more often. Was it just me or did I again gain overnight? The pregnancy is almost two month and I don’t eat that much. I shrugged. I quickly styled my hair into a ponytail. I wore lipstick and rubbed my lips together. I haven’t been pressed to hurry before. Except for that interview at Bern. I left the room and quickly climbed down the stairs. I held the handrail as I climbed down. Two stairs to the landing, I caught a glimpse of someone at the end. I stopped at a stair and looked at him blankly. Oh, great! That was one way to ruin my morning. My pace decreased and I sluggishly climbed down. I stood a stair away from him.Rex had a lit cigarette in his hand. His hair seemed messy. He was still in his nightwear. I got a whiff of the smoke. It triggered my stomach, making my tongue to have a salty tasty. It was making me nauseous. He was about to take a puff at it when I an

~Jacqueline’s POV~“Wow, Jackie! This is good news.” I had leant the phone against the mirror on the dressing table. Bianca smiled cheerily as I told about the pregnancy. From the screen, I could tell she was at her flat. “Thank you!” I said, faking the smile.“Aw, Sugar! I can’t believe you are to be a mum soon. It’s worth pulling the roof in excitement. Oh, mehn! I am going to be an aunt. Wait? No, godmother.” She expressed happily.“There is still much time to decide on that. It’s still a month and two weeks.” I explained.“Oh! That’s a long time. But it’s worth the wait.” She said jovially,“And I’m guessing your husband is excited about it as much as you do.”Her words pulled me back to the nightmare I was trying to run from. “Well, I’m sorry Cupcake. I had the urge to.”His action became vivid in my mind. I could still here the picture rip in halves. I can’t still believe he would be that cruel towards his own child.“…Jackie!”“Hello!”Bianca’s voice snapped me out of the tr

~Jacqueline’s POV~I couldn’t hold back the tears anymore. They slowly ran down my cheek. Rex muttered something and slapped his hand on his face. He looked away. He whispered something to his lover. She raised her head and caught a glimpse at me at the door. She turned towards the desk. Rex slowly stood on his feet. He adjusted his trousers. His lover did the same, though she avoided eye contact. Her hands were at her chest. Probably did the buttons of her shirt. There was an awkward silence in the office. “Leave us, Paula.” He said plainly, with his gaze at me. Paula quickly picked up something from the desk and headed for the door. She had hung her head until she was abreast of me. She flashed a glance at me. I scowled at her. She left the office and closed the door behind her. Neither of us said anything after the bang. I glanced at the closed door, then Rex. He looked at me plainly. His eyes were narrowed, had his arms at akimbo and his lips, pursed. He sneered at me. “What

~Rex’s POV~I sat down at the desk, holding to pictures. Each were samples for the new label for the frozen yoghurt. The first one had all the things I wanted but its colour seemed dull and unattractive. It would only discourage the buyers. The second had most of the qualities I liked. Asides the cartoon character on it. But it was something that could be worked on.“I think we should go with this one. It’s not as bad as the other.” I said firmly, returning the second picture first.I placed the latter on the desk. I leant my back against the backrest. I diverted my gaze from the picture to Paula. She had been me the nonchalant attitude all week. Even while standing in front of me, she still ignored me. She had her eyes on the files she was holding. Each time she flipped over, she flashed a glance at me. She knew perfectly I was looking at her.“Okay, Sir. We go with the second. I’ll have the artist modify the character. Is there anything else?” The Deputy of Art said.“No. That will

Jacqueline’s POVI sat down at the back of the car, with my eyes at the window. I watched the buildings and people we had driven past. I moved away from the door and leant against the soft seat. I turned to the side and glanced at the bodyguard, who was sat close to me. Though he sat at a distance

Jacqueline’s POVIt has been a week since I got married and nothing has happened. No calls, no posters of a missing person, nothing. It almost feels like I have been easily forgotten. To top it all, I don’t remember where my phone is. How can I call for help?I am certain Bianca would be worried ab

Rex’s POV“What? Cat got your tongue?” I mocked her.She stayed mute. Her body quivered at the sight of my gun. I playfully moved the gun round her face and intentionally stopped at her neck. Jacqueline’s POVI felt the rough palms pulling me up. I had bumped into something—a smooth pillar, I guess. Though, it was just a scratch on my arm. I was forced to sit down on a chair. It felt like a wooden chair. The bag over my face was pulled up.I squinted my eyes when I saw the bright lightb
