LOGIN“Alright. I assume this means there’s a bet involved,” Amber grinned.
“Pretty boy,” my girlfriend turned to me. “What do you want if I’m wrong?”
“Let’s make the stakes high, little girl,” I smirked. “Sing me a song at our wedding.”
“Pretty boy,” she saw right through me. “That assumes there will be a wedding,” she laughed.
“I didn’t say when,” I teased, gently brushing her cheek. She was unbelievably attractive.
“Alright, listen,” she said. “If we do have a wedding, the winner gets a song. If we don’t, then the loser sings at Brian’s or Daryl’s wedding. Deal?”
“Who picks the song?” I asked. “The loser or me?” I winked.
“The loser, pretty boy,” she smiled at my confidence. “Deal?”
“Deal, little girl,” she ruffled my hair, and I kissed her.
“Well, we’ll find out on New Year’s,” Amber concluded with a smile and walked away.
“What was that?” Will asked.
“Our everyday life,” Jenny laughed and walked off.
Until lunch, I occasionally disappeared with her into the hallway—just like two days ago. Dad just grinned.
“You look like a man in love,” my girlfriend teased between kisses.
“I don’t look like one—I am one,” I corrected before answering the call of her lips.
After lunch, I walked her home.
“Messyhair,” she said. “The twins and Dany are coming with us for New Year’s. That’s okay, right?”
“Of course. Kevin and Will are coming too, and we’ll head over together. But let’s take multiple cars,” I said.
“Why, Messyhair?” she asked as I stopped under the tree.
“So we can sneak away before midnight,” I winked. “You owe me a private Christmas dance. Or actually, two.”
“Two?” she raised an eyebrow, feigning seriousness. “We were apart for a year,” she reminded me.
“I don’t recall anything like that,” I said, pulling her closer with a smirk. “But one dance would do.”
“Let’s see if you earn it,” she teased, her lips hovering just out of reach before finally letting me steal a kiss.
The second day with Jenny’s family was much easier—the boys had visibly accepted me. After dinner, Jenny walked me out again.
I headed to Brian’s place—he had mentioned wanting to escape his family for a bit.
“Everything alright, man?” I asked when I arrived.
“They haven’t arrived yet. Come in,” he said cheerfully.
“New Year’s?” I asked as I sat down.
“I’m going. Mayoko is coming too.”
“She’s home?” I was surprised. “I thought she had traveled.”
“No,” he said. “Her family traveled here this year. I spent all day there yesterday—your girl would be proud of my work. Everyone complimented my language skills,” he bragged.
“Good. Then I’ll leave you to rest. It’s quiet at my place if you want to come over.”
“Jay,” he called after me from the doorway. “I’m bringing a camera, but you have to document everything.”
“Got it,” I grinned.
The days passed quickly until New Year’s. I studied, rested.
On the last day of the year, Kevin and Will showed up not long after breakfast.
“We’re heading to Jenny’s for lunch, then leaving from there. My parents are heading out soon,” I said once they came in.
I got ready, and we drove to Uncle Steve’s place in Kevin’s car.
Jenny introduced the two guys to her family, and we had lunch before chatting for a while.
“Blondie,” Daniel said in the late afternoon in the living room. “You go in one car with Kevin and Will. I’ll take Ray and Rob, and Jay will drive separately, okay? That way, everyone can come and go freely.”
“Alright.”
Jenny changed, I went back to get my car, and we all drove over to Paul’s place one after another.
Inside, the party was already buzzing—Paul’s New Year’s event was getting more popular each year.
Like last year, he had closed off the upper floor of his mansion, but this time, he had installed a raised platform between the two staircases, creating a dance space in front of it. There were no tables, just high counters for standing receptions. The food was lined up on tables along the walls.
This year, my friend had added even more lighting than before.
The guys mingled, and Jenny stepped up beside me.
Her outfit was asymmetrical—where it had a strap, the skirt was short, with strings hanging down. The front zipper didn’t go all the way up, creating a subtle yet alluring neckline that highlighted her fantastic figure.
“What do you see, Messyhair?” she asked, looking at me.
“That a bunch of our friends are already here,” I said after scanning the room. “And that Paul outdoes himself every year with this party. This year, there’s a podium and extra lights,” I noted.
“Details?” she laughed. “Need help?” she asked after a short pause. I nodded.
“Jessica and Aaron are on a silent treatment break. Look,” she pointed.
Sure enough, they stood a few meters apart, backs turned to each other.
“I already know,” my girlfriend teased. “You’ll be shopping all day. But for now, go talk to Aaron.”
She gave me a quick kiss and walked off, while I went to greet Aaron.
On Sunday, we had lunch at my place. Luckily, after swimming, we both had a good appetite. In the afternoon, we went to his place to play video games.“When will the pool be finished here? Do you know?” Brian asked.“Jenny said in the fall when we come back,” I said. “Unfortunately, I’ll have to spend a day in the gym.”“I won’t even ask,” he laughed. “She’s definitely going to torture you.”By the time I got home, Jenny had already arrived and was unpacking.“I missed you,” I said, wrapping my arms around her. “How did the meeting go?”“Well,” she said. “They signed the contract.”“What contract?” I asked, curious.
“Yeah, Jenny always sees right through me,” I admitted.“I know, son,” he smiled. “Good luck. I can’t help you—this is between the two of you.” He laughed.“You bet on this too?” Amber asked, sounding exasperated.“She said she’d figure it out,” I muttered, feeling slightly offended. “You don’t think I’m just going to let it go, do you?”“You’re the boss,” Amber rolled her eyes, while our parents laughed.“Is it already sized?” I asked as I held the box. I remembered correctly—it was a stunning ring.“Yes, bro,” Amber smiled. “Dad asked me for one of those bijou rings she wears in photos, so I knew about it—Mom was the only one who didn’t.”
“Unfortunately, it was all for nothing,” I said, disappointed. “It’s no longer in the store, so there’s nothing to show. Does Jenny know you’re here?” I asked.“No,” Dr. Cox replied. “Mickey is at his friend’s place, and Jane left before us.”“I’m sorry about the ring, Jay,” Mrs. Julie said.“Good thing I pay attention to details too—not just Janie,” Dr. Cox laughed, making everyone look at him.“Adam,” Dad chuckled, “I think you should stop teasing them before they kill you tonight.”“Andrew? Adam?” Both mothers asked at the same time.“Ladies,” Dr. Cox said with a smile, reaching into his inner pocket and placing a blue heart-shaped box on the table. &ldquo
The next day, Dad drove us to the apartment, and I showed them around.“It’s not huge, but it’s perfect for the two of us. Thank you,” I said once we settled in the living room.“I see your girlfriend has made it feel like home,” Mom said, looking around.“Yeah, she’s slowly unpacking everything. Will the rent be covered over the summer too?” I asked, since we hadn’t discussed it yet.“As far as I know, it was leased for several years. Adam handled the paperwork,” Dad said.“If no one’s hungry yet,” Dad continued, “we could head to the store.”“Finally, I get to see my own shop,” Amber said excitedly.“Sis,” I said, “I’ve already been inside, but they
On Friday, Jenny drove home after school, pulling into my parents’ driveway just before dinner. The scent of home-cooked food drifted through the open windows, and as she stepped inside, the family was already gathered, waiting with expectant smiles.“Come in,” Brad said, opening the door. “Dinner’s just about ready.”“Good evening,” Jenny greeted everyone and sat across from me at the table—her usual spot. She seemed a little nervous, which was unusual for her lately.“Everything okay, dear?” Dad noticed.“Messyhair said everyone’s coming to visit our apartment tomorrow, but unfortunately, I won’t be able to be there,” she blurted out.“No problem, dear,” Mom reassured her. “Yes, I could only make time now.” So she took resp
I should’ve looked away. Should’ve stood up and left the room. But I couldn’t. She danced like temptation incarnate—teasing, graceful, slow. When she peeled back her sweatshirt and revealed the black corset beneath, I stood.I crossed to her in two strides, hands slipping around her waist.“What do you think you’re doing?” she giggled as I eased her down onto the couch.I didn’t answer. I couldn’t. My fingers were already tugging at her tracksuit, breath shallow. I nearly tore the fabric from her—and my own clothes too—blinded by how much I needed her. She laughed softly, her skin warm under my hands, her smile daring me to break every rule we’d set.“What do you think you’re doing?” she asked again, this time breathlessly, already reacting to my kisses.
My summer internship had officially begun with Uncle Steve.“Uncle Steve,” I said one morning while prepping at the clinic, “I submitted the paperwork for the transfer.”“I know, son,” the old man chuckled. “I already saw your name at the admissions office.”“Please don’t tell Jenny,” I asked quiet
The next morning, I woke up early again. I went down to the newly renovated pool for a swim and made it back home in time for breakfast. Dad was already downstairs, and Mom joined us soon after in the kitchen.“Good morning, sweetheart,” Mom said. ”Looks like you’re getting back in shape.”“Jenny c
“Helen is actually Harper,” I began. She tried to speak, but I raised my finger again. ”And she was never really my girlfriend. I tried everything to bring back the old Jay, but after I half-kissed Harper in an elevator, I pulled away. I felt guilty. It didn’t feel right.”“Excuse me?” she asked, c
I waited for the next afternoon like I had before our movie date—nervous, dressed up, and right on time. I drove to Tony’s. I arrived before she did, but Tony greeted me enthusiastically.“Eating alone today, Jay?” he asked after our handshake.“Not exactly,” I said.“No way,” he grinned. I nodded.
