Third-Person POV

With that, Hector dismissed the three kneeling before him and just waved his hand coldly. "Drag them out. And mind yourselves, don't disturb my wife and son while they rest."

"Yes, sir!"

The bodyguards lunged forward, moving to haul Justin and Cindy away.

Out of nowhere, whether driven over the edge or completely blinded by envy, Cindy lost her mind and let out a chilling laugh.

"Ha! So the great Mr. Hector is nothing more than a blind fool! What's so special about that bit

Noticing my silence, Hector softly called out to me, "Nora, are you still mad at me?"He cast his eyes downward with a low sigh, putting on a pitiful expression."You have every right to be angry. I swear this will never happen again. I was in the wrong this time. Punish me however you see fit!"No one would ever imagine that the ruthless Hector was such a clingy, manipulative man in private with his family.Justin probably died without ever realizing why he had been abruptly transferred abroad to open new markets in the first place. It was all Hector's doing.Only after we got married did Hector confess it to me.He had actually set his sights on me long ago, but because of my engagement to Justin, he couldn't make a move.To his surprise, Justin ruined things himself by secretly hooking up with Cindy.Hector simply did him a favor and sent him overseas. He never expected Justin to be foolish enough to bring Cindy along, let alone send the baby all the way back home after sh

Third-Person POVThey wouldn't have burned their bridges. They would simply continue as they always had, maintaining a distant but stable marriage.Nora would have turned a blind eye to his straying.Once she had a child or two of her own, she would have stopped caring about him altogether.Yet, all because he listened to a moment's temptation and made a foolish mistake, he sent that kid back home.Honestly, he knew what Cindy had been scheming back then.He knew she wanted to use the kid to humiliate Nora.At first, he had hesitated. He hadn't wanted to go to extremes, but at the time, he was utterly infatuated with Cindy. Now, it was too late for regrets. He stared down at his feetless legs, despair washing over his face.He had assumed that once Hector blew off his steam, Arthur would find a way to get him out.Yet days went by, and not a single soul came to see him.The only sign of life was a bodyguard dropping off a bowl of water every now and then, keeping them alive

So the great Mr. Hector is nothing more than a blind fool! What's so special about that bitch Nora anyway? She's just Justin's leftover trash, and you're treating her like a prized treasure?"A collective gasp echoed across the room. The mood in the hall instantly grew tense.Yet Cindy, entirely oblivious, kept sneering and spitting venom with a twisted expression. "Everyone calls you a business genius with impeccable judgment, but I think you're just a blind fool duped by a whore!"Hector didn't grow angry at her lunatic ranting. If anything, he felt a sting of regret. Thankfully

Third-Person POV"Yes, sir!" the bodyguards replied. The moment the order dropped, Justin collapsed into a puddle of mush. His eyes snapped upward to the man seated at the head of the room.Faced with the grim prospect of death, sheer terror conquered his fear as he stammered out a question, "Uncle Hector, what did I do wrong? Why are you chopping off my foot?"Hector cast him a lazy glance, as if looking at an annoying bug.He slowly rolled up his sleeves and added smoothly, "Make that both feet."Just then, the bodyguard who had left the room walked back in, hauling a massive Mastiff half a man's height by its leash. One look was all it took for cold sweat to soak clean through Justin."No! Uncle Hector!"He scrambled up, stumbling wildly forward to grab Hector's ankles, only to be pinned hard to the ground by two bodyguards."Uncle Hector, what did I do to deserve this? I spent five years toiling away for the Ford family abroad. I may not have earned the credit, but I've d

Third-Person POVJustin's face turned pale. Before he could react, someone kicked him across the room.By the time he pulled himself together, his ninth uncle, Hector Ford—the head of the Ford family who usually kept women at arm's length—was already holding the bloodied Nora, glaring at him like a dead man walking.Justin dragged the terrified Cindy over to kneel beside him. Lowering his head, he stammered, "Uncle Hector, I-I just got back from Verdanne today. Why did you kick me the second you walk through the door?"There was a slight hint of resentment in his voice.Truth be told, Justin was terrified of Hector.Years ago, the previous head of the Ford family had nine sons, all clamoring for power.Back then, Hector was just an illegitimate child raised in secret, brought back from overseas. He had no backing, strength, or even fluency in the local tongue.Yet in just three years, he took full control of the entire Ford family without lifting a finger. At first, some unde

Nora's POV"Don't hurt my mommy!"Seeing me slammed to the ground with blood streaming from my forehead, Bryson yelled and prepared to bite again. However, Justin saw it coming. He grabbed Bryson by the chin, forced his face toward Cindy cowering in the corner, and squeezed tight. "You little bastard! Open your eyes and look carefully! Your real mother is right over there!""She's not my mommy! You're the bad guys!" Bryson craned his neck. His mouth was smeared with blood as he bit at Justin. The latter completely lost his patience. He threw Bryson to the ground, planted a foot on his chest, and sneered. "Nora completely ruined this kid. He won't even acknowledge his own parents!"Fine! Since we're here, I'll teach you a proper lesson today on how to apologize to your parents!"With that, he bore down, grinding his boot into the boy's chest.Bryson's stifled groans of pain echoed through the room."Let him go! You monster! You don't deserve to touch my son!" I screamed till my
