After a brief silence, Raina shook her head and said quietly, “Back then, I also had my doubts. So my mother had done a paternity test for me at the time. The test results showed that I am indeed Fenris’ daughter.”

If she wasn’t Fenris’s biological daughter, she could have accepted his dislike or even hatred—after all, she wouldn’t be his own flesh and blood. But the paternity test shattered that illusion.

That was the truly hard part to accept.

After a while, Leif finally said, “Have you ever thought that maybe that paternity test was fake?”

Raina’s pupils immediately shrank to tiny dots, and she looked dazed. “Fake?!”

Her heart sank slightly.

Although her mother had always ignored her existence, probably because of the mother-daughter bond, she had always believed that her mother wouldn’t lie to her. So when her mother showed her the paternity test back then, she never doubted it.

But if the paternity test was fake and she really wasn’t Fenris’s daughter, then whose daughter was she

  • Jilted Heiress Strikes Back   Feel Like a Past Life

Rael rolled his eyes and slammed the car door shut. "Not at all."Leo laughed heartily. "Come on, I know you're actually thrilled inside! Stop being shy and just admit it! Hahahaha..."Rael couldn't be bothered to respond and drove off from the Wexford Lane....At that moment, in the main hall.Raina stayed with Leif until he finished eating. After tidying up, the three of them—two adults and one child—sat there in silence, staring at each other.Of the three, one couldn’t speak, one couldn’t see, and only she was still considered normal. Though she also had plenty of injuries, at least she could still move around freely. After a while, Raina suddenly looked up at him. “Right, I haven’t changed your dressing yet. Let me take care of that first.”Leif replied, “Okay.”Changing the bandages was going to be a bit gory, so Raina sent Gale upstairs first. She brought over the medical kit and began unwrapping the bandage from Leif’s head. As the bandage unraveled, the deeper she went, the

Raina didn’t seem to mind. Propping her chin up with one hand, she replied casually, “Oh, that? I just have too much time on my hands. I like reading random stuff when I’m bored. Picked it up from some miscellaneous books.”The excuse was clearly unconvincing—so half-hearted that she didn’t even bother to make it sound real. But her tone was so calm and open that it left little room for doubt, and it made it hard for anyone to press further. After a moment of silence, Rael still couldn’t hold back and asked, “What kind of miscellaneous books? I wouldn’t mind flipping through them in my spare time. Why don’t you recommend a few, Miss Carrington?”Raina raised her brows slightly and smiled. “Sure. I’ll think of a few titles when I have the time and let you know.”Rael: “…”In adult terms, “I’ll think about it” was on par with “Let’s have lunch sometime”—basically, it meant never. At that moment, Leif suddenly cut in, saying, “Gravesend doesn’t deal in small-time business. Anyone who kno

Raina turned her head instinctively, looking toward the door, and said, “Come in.”Right after she spoke, she realized how inappropriate that was—whose room was this again? It was Leif’s!She, a guest, had spoken before the host did. That was definitely overstepping boundaries. Quickly, she turned to look at Leif. Seeing that he didn’t seem to mind, and the person entering didn’t question it either, as if it was completely natural, the matter passed without comment.Still, she made a mental note: Don’t make such ridiculous mistakes next time. The person who entered was Rael.Rael swept his eyes over the two of them with a peculiar look, clearly itching to ask something, but ultimately said nothing. After a moment, he rubbed his chin and said, trying to sound nonchalant, “So... did I come at a bad time?”Raina turned to look at him. “No, not at all. Why would you think that?”Not at all?! He had clearly seen her looking guilty just now!Rael coughed dramatically. “No reason. Just sayin

But once the words were out, they couldn’t be taken back.Raina pressed her fingers firmly to her brow and silently warned herself: Next time, keep your mouth shut. Maybe she hadn’t even realized it herself—she had been acting strangely all day.At that moment, Leif spoke. He seemed to exhale lightly and said in a calm voice, “No particular reason. I just kept it to remind myself of a few things.”So, the scar had a special meaning to Leif. Was it related to the person he liked?Raina’s thoughts ran wild for a moment before she snapped back to reality. ‘Ugh, how childish am I, thinking about something so pointless?’ She shook her head and turned around to grab a clean towel, beginning to help him wash. After a while, Raina suddenly asked, “Was it from the girl you liked?”Leif replied, “What?”Raina coughed. “I mean, the talisman.”Leif asked instead, “Is this something you care a lot about?”Well… she wasn’t just curious about that. She also wanted to know why Leif would risk his lif

Raina couldn’t help but glance again and asked, “A protective talisman?”She instinctively reached out to touch it, but recalling that Leif didn’t like being touched, she restrained herself and turned her gaze away... The charm hung just over his chest, the skin there unusually tan.So tan that it made one want to reach out and feel what it was like to touch it.While being supported as he walked, Leif answered, “Yes, it’s a small custom from my hometown.”“Oh,” Raina responded. After that “oh,” she said nothing more. Leif couldn’t help but glance sideways at her and asked, “Aren’t you curious what kind of custom it is?”Raina did want to ask, but she forced herself to stay silent. She didn’t quite understand why. When she first met Leif and moved into Wexford Lane, she hadn’t had all these complicated feelings. But somehow, the more she interacted with him, the more restrained and self-conscious she became. She could no longer act as carefree as before. She found herself quietly cari

  • Jilted Heiress Strikes Back   Protective Talisman

Rael dragged Leo out of the Wexford Lane, slammed the car door shut with a ‘bang,’ and Leo, panting heavily, shouted, "Why... why are we running?! Why?! Sister-in-law didn’t even say we had to stay!"Still catching his breath, Rael turned to look at him. After a long moment, he blinked in realization. "Yeah? Why are we running?"Leo: "..."Rael pressed a hand to his forehead and waved the other. "Forget it, whatever. It’s late anyway. Let’s just go back first."Leo didn’t seem the least bit worried. Smiling, he said, "Okay, then let’s go back quickly."Rael couldn’t figure out what he was so happy about. He restarted the car and drove away from the Wexford Lane. After the two of them left, Raina returned upstairs.Gale had already gotten ready for bed on his own, so Raina didn’t disturb him. She stood in front of Leif’s door for a long while before finally raising her hand and knocking. She asked softly, “Mr. Vexley, are you resting?”Leif’s voice came from inside. “No. Come in.”Taki
