Chapter Fifty-Five

“Well, that was pretty nice. Did you like it?” Emery buckled her seatbelt and watched as Austin pulled the truck out of the parking lot. She glanced around at the campus one last time, then focused her attention on him, waiting for an answer.

“Yeah, I did. It seemed pretty cool.” The truck followed the same route back. Austin was hoping they would have enough time to get a nice walk in at the pier before they headed off to an early dinner. They were both lost in their own thoughts on the drive back to where they were staying.

“Where’s this?” Emery noted that they weren’t at the hotel when she finally came back to the present moment and realized the truck had stopped.

Austin got out and walked around to help Emery out. “This is just a small pier everyone comes to. It has a few shops and restaurants on it that some people like to go to.” He took her hand and led her down the path.
