Chapter 4

K•E•L•S•I::::

I used all my will power to focus my attention on the teacher as i overheard soft mumurs from every corner.

"Ah! There you are, can you please tell me and the class your name? He encouraged.

"My name is Kelsi Itohan" I tried to be audible as I could.

"I'm a new student here" my voice slightly shaking.

He nodded "Welcome, Kelsi the teacher replied with a smile that soothe my feeling.

Sit down please.

"Thank you", I replied sitting quietly while taking a quick glance at my classmates.

"Alright everyone today we will start a new topic on mathematics INDCES'

Ugh! 

I hate mathematics even as a science student I love anything that does not involve calculation, but I have no choice than to sit and learn.

The teacher taught for over two hours, another came in and the third all asking me to introduce myself, I almost wanted to scream and tell them to  teach and not disturb my peace, finally the bell rang it was break time! 

I exhaled.

Students were going out for lunch, I was just sitting looking around. 

Few minutes later I stood up to get something to eat, while walking through the corridor someone called me.

"Hey new girl!" a voice rather familiar called me.

I didn't answer, well I was not the only new girl in school. I don't want to be in any awkward situation where by I will be called a dummy who answered another person's call.!

"New girl!" loud voice came from behind, I turned back and saw three girls arms crossed walking towards me

I actually recognize the girl in the middle as the girls that was flashy and saucy when I came in the morning.

I don't know the other girls maybe they are from other departments, well I don't care  but the way they looked at me made me feel unease.

"Where are you going to"?  One of the girls asked eyeing me from head to toe.

"Were you deaf when we called you?" Her tone was laced with anger and disgust.

The saucy girl in the middle which I assume was their leader said throwing daggers at me with her eyes.

I exhaled, "s Iam sorry I didn't hear you", I replied nonchalantly.

 She scoffed, " You just came today and you're already full of yourself, and who do you think you're?" She asked in disgust arm crossed head cocked to one side.

"Huh? Who are your parents? She asked coming closer to me.

"Uhmm...you smell cheap!" She said Covering her nose in disgust,  how did you get into this school? 

I was already getting angry and irritated by her action and annoying questions but I cooled it down.

I don't want to be in trouble on my first day in school and I certainly don't want to be in the school blacklist, I kept mute.

She scoffed. "Bitch! I'm talking to you!" She screamed angrily and pushed me. 

I staggered back almost falling, crowds of students were gathering whispering and some were videoing what was happening.

I stared at them, "seriously? What is the video for? And why can't everybody just go their way? Is the gathering necessary? I wanted to shout at them.

"You dare not keep quiet when iam talking to you,You filthy tramp!".

I bit my cheek to keep my anger in check.

"You better be very careful here, and watch your back because I will make life miserable and hell for you here in empire high school".

"What's going on there? A teacher asked, coming towards our direction.

"Girls let's go" she said and they left quickly pushing me out of their way.

I exhaled heavily.

'What happened"? 

"Are you okay? I know those girls are bullies, did they hurt you?" the teacher asked.

"No ma" I replied with a smile.

I turned back to the class because I had already lose my appetite that afternoon.

From that morning I know there will be trouble, more trouble for me in the school.

I went back to my class after discussing with the teacher, and met the girls inside Smilling mischievously at me.

I walked to my seat ignoring them, waiting for the next teacher to come In.

The next subject was chemistry. Everyone was already seated when the chemistry teacher walked in.

Few minutes later, he started dictating note for us to write, there I was at the back frantically searching for my chemistry note.

"It was here before I went out", I said to myself while busy searching for my missing note checking my books one after the other.

"Young lady! Why are you not writing?" The chemistry teacher rough voice called out.

"Sir....I..I... could not find my note inside my bag" I said stuttering, but I swear it was in my bag earlier.

"You....you.....you.... couldn't find your note inside your bag and you swear it was inside your bag?" The man mimicked my stuttering.

"So your bag now swallow book"?

Everybody in the class laughed.

I was pained, tears welled my eyes, who could have done this to me? I looked immediately at the saucy girl direction and I saw her laughing giving her friend a high five.

"Sir! She took my note"  I pointed at her with all seriousness and anger.

"What? Anita! Is that so? The teacher asked waiting for her reply.

"What? No sir! I don't know anything about her book", she said faking surprise.

"She is new here, I don't know her neither have I talk to her and iam sure I won't,h who knows maybe she didn't buy book on her first day to school"

Everybody laughed, including her.

I was pained, my eyes were red,I badly wanted to go over to her seat and hit her pretty face hard.

"Get out of my class now"! The teacher shouted, "You are a new student and you're so careless and unserious to come to class without your complete note books"

"You don't have any business here, stay outside till iam done with my teaching"

Tears came out of my eyes, "I don't  think I belong here" I said to myself walking out of the class.

My first day in school is already becoming a night mare to me, I just want to go home badly.

I stood outside the class for over an hour, I don't want any teacher to see me standing outside under the sun, I walked to the back of the class, and there It was.

My book torn to pieces scattered everywhere.

It dawn on me, Anita and her crew did this!

They tore my book!

No wonder they were smilling mischievously at me when I entered the class.

"Bitch!" I yelled closing my eyes shut to prevent more hot tears from spilling out.

They succeeded in making me miss the chemistry class.

I couldn't do anything, i picked the torn books walked back to my class after the chemistry lecture.

Throughout the rest of the class, I wasn't paying attention.

I just want the remaining two more classes to end so I can go home and cry myself to sleep.

I don't think I belong here!
