“I want you to want me as much as I want you” William~ About seven-minute later, Japhia comes out of the booth with a worn-out look on his face. I approach him and William trails behind me. “How did it go?” I ask with my eyes desperately searching his. He huffs, “You ask questions you already know the answer to. If it went great, I’d be holding 150 grand in my hand, right? And now I’m not, so what does that tell you?” “It didn’t go well?” He nods, giving me a slight smile. “See? Now you’ve answered your own question.” I grit my teeth as yet again he’s made me feel dumb and like he knew what I was thinking about William rubs his hand on the small of my back trying to ease my slowly rising anger and I feel it dies off, but so far from letting it go. “Just like the star you’ve always been there.” Karen~ “Come home with me.” Is William’s first word in the last ten minutes of our stargazing. This is the first night in this week that it didn’t rain so William and I (which is just me,) spent a few hours out looking at the stars and seeing that William showed no opposition, we drove out to an open field, spread out our mat and then we laid down on the grass and we have been gazing afar off for the last ten minutes. My concentration dwindles and I lose focus on the star I’ve been trying to tell myself isn’t moving. I know the home he’s talking about isn’t back home to my apartment, he’s talking about home back in the States. We’ve had this discussion over the last couple of days and, well, I haven’t given him a straight answer... I thought I did last time. So I called my secretary and told her I had family matters to attend to. Yes, I did, because I took the day to introduce Jean to everyone in the house and that day was also the first time since Samuel’s funeral that I saw Karen and I didn’t crash down or feel the pain I always felt when around her.
