AZALEA'S POV

“No she doesn't.” She defends immediately. I arch an eyebrow at her, she smiles.

“I had a lot of sisters growing up too, and we never really saw eye to eye, even though we were almost the same ages,” I interrupt her and she let me.

“You and all your sisters are from the same parents, Eloise sees me as a pest.” I tell her truthfully and she gasps, I guess I'm breaking her heart with my words, she probably doesn’t think it's as bad as it is.

“If you think like that of your sister, then how are you any better Azalea?.” She tells me firmly, I want to argue, but I decide against it, it's no use.

"Have you ever tried to mend things with your sister other than concluding based on your prejudice?. If not, then the fault also lies with you."

I want to tell her all how Eloise and her friends use to mock me in school. How she would let them laugh at me. How would I endure that and try to "mend things" when I have done nothing wrong but being adopted.

“I’ll talk to Eloise so you guys can talk out your differences.” She adds.

“Its okay mom, really, mating moon is just around the corner, she’d find her mate and leave the pack and I don’t plan on being here forever either.” It would sound mean, but I have dreamt of the day when we would no longer have to live in the same house, walking on egg shells around each other.

“Azalea……” She calls out, with a pointed face, she doesn’t like my way of handling things, which was basically running away from it.

“Who can blame her for not liking me, mom, no one does…….it gets worse every day, the way people frown at me, I try not to let it get to me, but I’m not made of bricks.” I rap out quickly, taking a big breath as I stop. This goes beyond Eloise and her snotty friends, the entire pack didn't exactly like me either.

“You know what?, people shy away from poop because its scary not because its filthy.”

“I’m pretty sure no one is scared of me mom.” I scoff, rolling my eyes, subtly. "I'm an anomaly." Who would be scared of a 5 foot girl in an army of muscular animal shifters.

She nuzzles me with a smile.

“You’ll see, when the time comes, they will realize they don't hate you, they only hated that they didn’t understand.”

I smile at her words, she has a way of making every thing seem less frightening that it is, she calls it her ‘mom effect’

We were silent for a while, when I decide to ask a question on my mind, many actually.

“Do you think I’m one of you mom?.” I ask. Her head snap at me like I've uttered an abomination.

“Don’t be ridiculous Azzy, you’re my daughter and thus are a werewolf.” She says giving no room for discussion, but that's till I decide to discuss it.

“But I have no wolf, mom………what?, I'm pretty sure to be a werewolf, you need to have the wolf part?.” I ask her.

“You have a wolf, my sweet, she’s just taking her time to wake up.” She tells me, like she has been saying since I turned 18.

“Really taking her sweet time.” I mumble.

She laughs.

“What happens,” I pause again, finding my words. “What happens, when Pack life doesn’t work out, what will happen to me?.”

“Are you thinking of leaving the pack?.” She asks like she already knows, making me think, she really does know us, or rather me, more than I know or think.

“I don’t think I’ll find a mate without a wolf, “ I say without looking at her.

“I don’t want to put any one, especially you and dad through wanting to find me a mate or figuring what to do with me, so its just better, I go to live with humans……” I couldn’t continue with my words, they are hurting her.

“I don’t want to put dad through that, not after all this with finding Eloise a mate, when she has a wolf.” I say after a while.

“I wouldn’t stop you if you’ve already made up your mind, but I would also not let you go till you give us a chance, give it a chance.” She pulls me close till I rest on her chest, running her hands through my hair.

"I just don't want to get my hopes up and then be disappointed, I don't want to be hurt mom, and I don't want to hurt others." I tell her softly and I hear her sigh.

"You have a wolf." She say in a firm voice, I barely hear. I turn and narrow my eyes at her.

"Mom…." I drag.

She shakes her head, "I'm not just guessing, I'm convinced."

I frown, convinced?, about to voice my thoughts but she already knows what's on my mind.

"See, I saw her the day I found you, your eyes were glowing, she was keeping you warm." She tells me. I blink several times, not understanding her words. Of all the stories of how I was found, she had left out this detail for years.

I shake my head, unable to believe her even though I know she has no reason to lie. She nods, reassuring me, I swear, her eyes glazed over with tears.

"You were out there for God knows how long before we found you, she's a strong wolf, else you wouldn't have survived." Mom explains and I feet my cheek moisten.

"But……" I try to reason out, having all these arguments in my head, but my words fail me, my throat tightening.

"Don't give up on her, do you understand, flower?."

It's silent for a while, before I finally found my voice again. Even if I did have a wolf, mating is a different situation. Eloise has had her wolf for years and is still unmated.

"Do you think Eloise will find her mate?."

"We all have different destinies, my dear."

I watch intently, her hands move in my head from the mirror on the door of my closet facing us. I don't say anything, not quite understanding what she means.

"Do you believe in destinies, Azalea?." She asks and locks eye with me from the mirror.

  • KING'S MATE   73. MATING FURY

HENRY'S POVThe nightmare came again. It always started the same way—me as a child, running barefoot through the woods, the shadows stretching long and hungry, the sound of my own breath too loud in my ears. I could hear him behind me, the headless man, his blade scraping against the bark of trees, a jagged whisper of death. My legs burned, my lungs screamed, but I dared not stop.I tripped. The forest melted away.I was home. Sitting in the living room of my childhood house, the scent of stew wafts from the kitchen. My mother laughed softly, speaking to a woman I couldn’t see. The voice was familiar. Warm. Comforting. For the first time in my life, I hear the voice clearlyAzalea. But before I could move, before I could even reach for her, the scene shifted again. This time, the nightmare did not follow its usual course. My father was no longer the one kneeling, begging for mercy. It was her. Bound, bruised, silver hair matted with blood. And standing above her, blade at her throat, wa

  • KING'S MATE   72. NO SAVIOR

AZALEA POV "Don't you dare fucking touch him!" I shouted, my face red with fury. Lexa starts shouting through the duct tape too."No more shit like that, alright?" He grabs my face with force as if trying to break my jawline.I can only glare at him as he breaks into another monstrous smile. The doctor comes once again, this time with a gnash on her face almost matching mine."The doc will check if your blood level is enough for another draw." He announces and leaves. She was quiet while checking my blood and vitals, as she usually is, but I couldn't help myself from asking about her face."I'm sure you didn't decide to match with your patient. Who did that, Kai?"At first she doesn't respond and turns to the guards. "She needs to eat something if she's to survive another draw."I slip a scalpel from her tray as she talks to him. If we were to have any chance of escaping this place, I need some kind of weapon."If you do not cooperate, it affects us all." She whispers shakily to me as

  • KING'S MATE   71. LAST DOCTOR

AZALEA'S POV"Azzy, what's going on?" Lexa asks in a serious tone after the evil doctor leaves. I was sure we were being watched, so I didn't want them to suspect a thing."Do you know where Justin is?" I ask instead, shaking my head."On our way here, I noticed a room just like the one I was in with two hefty men guarding it, so I guess."I nodded furiously. "Lexa, look at me, things are definitely not how they used to be, everything we thought we knew." Tears gathered in my eyes. Everything I thought I knew was unfolding right in front of my own eyes. It was scary. I just had to trust that I could keep myself and my siblings alive like Mum and Dad told me to if Henry also decides to betray me as a sacrificial lamb."I'm so sorry I failed to protect you, but I promise I will get us out of here alive.""I don't understand, Azzy. What are you talking about? What was Kai saying?" She asks, still sobbing"Kai is no longer who we think he is." She nods, seeming to have gathered that much b

  • KING'S MATE   70. WAR ACCESS

HENRY'S POV Shaking my head with amusement. "Still the same hotheaded bastard, I see." I smirked and clasped Gray’s forearm in an elongated weird handshake I didn't think I remembered that we made up when we were kids. "Still the same arrogant prick." I looked around quickly for Eli, its best I keep these two apart for a while. Gray chuckled before my eyes landed on the woman beside him. She had bright brown eyes and an air of quiet confidence. My brows lifted. "Your mate?" Gray in a manner I've never seem him before stammered, avoiding eye contact and the girl—Emma, I assumed—cleared her throat. I crossed my arms. "Oh, this is interesting." They have definitely fucked. I arch an eyebrow at Gray laughing. He sighed as she gagged at my eyebrow, pulling me aside. "It’s…..Uh complicated. But listen, Emma has rare abilities. She saved my life, Henry. And she might be able to help us." "Help how?" Gray’s expression darkened. "She gets visions. She sees things others can’t." Emma gi

  • KING'S MATE   69. CAUTIONED CHAOS

HENRY'S POVI sat at the edge of my desk, my fingers pressing into my temples as I stared at the glowing map and countless computer screens before me. My eyes burned from lack of sleep, but I couldn't stop. I wouldn't stop.Azalea was out there, suffering, and I was stuck here, unable to do anything.I used to take huge pride in my collection of super computers with accuracy of 0.00001 to trace even the tiniest signals. I personally designed the tech lab myself, I gathered only the best from all around the world, Eli and the rest of the tech team are the very best among werewolves.Yet when it truly matters, the best computers and the best tech team can't seem to trace one person. Right now, as I stared and listened for the continuous chime and beeping from over 50 computers in every corner of the 1500 square feet lab I wanted to smash everything into tiny balls and set it all on fire.My frustration boiled over, and I slammed my fist against the table, the sound echoing through the ro

  • KING'S MATE   68. MONSTER GOD

AZALEA'S POVMy breath hitched, my heart hammering violently against my ribs as I tried to process the impossible. Kai. My brother. And yet, he stood there, grinning like a madman, his red eyes gleaming under the dim lights. The once familiar warmth in his gaze had been replaced by something dark, twisted, malevolent."K-Kai?" My voice was hoarse, cracking under the weight of my disbelief. "How are you.....alive?." I puased to ask. Till now, I had thought he was in the fight that night of the attack. I remember dad saying something about calling him. I didn't know if he died or survived, but Ryder had assured me that no one alive was left behind in the pack. His sinister smirk only widened as he stepped closer. "Oh, sister, don't look so surprised, I was never truly gone," he taunts, stepping closer. "Did you really think you were the only one who survived?"."Something was deeply wrong. My instincts screamed at me to get away, to fight, to do anything but remain vulnerable before him
