I could tell something had happened as soon as I entered the building. Everyone was in groups discussing something significant. I tried to catch any information I could as I walked to the elevator but I couldn’t hear anything clearly. I was surprised that I had arrived before Nick and Phil. I walked to my office and put my purse in its usual drawer. I had just put my lunch away when I heard Phil’s voice as he exited the elevator. I went about my morning routine and gave him the coffee I had gotten him. I knocked on the partially open door and walked in after he told me to come in. I can see dark circles under his eyes. He looks exhausted.

“Good morning. I have your coffee.” I said.

“Oh thank god. I was up late last night and didn’t sleep well. Damn this is good.” Phil groans.

I giggle as he sits down. Initially, I wasn’t sure about this, but I love working with Phil. We get along excellently. Nick is a great boss and has been very patient with me. They told me I q
