MasukZach looked out the window as heavy rain poured over his land. The raindrops fell quickly, streaking down the glass. His mind began to wander—to someone.
Zach exhaled harshly, then clenched his fists tightly. His thoughts grew chaotic, pressing against his skull and swirling together.
"Zach, you need to apologize to our mate," said Zean, Zach’s wolf, who had already advised him several times.
"Shut up! Don’t be noisy," Zach snapped. He was furious; when his mind was already a storm, Zean’s voice only made him angrier.
"Zach, please. I love her deeply," Zean kept pleading, urging Zach to apologize for the terrible mistake he had made.
"You think I don’t love her?!" Zach shot back, unable to bear Zean’s constant nagging.
"I know you do, Zach. But why won’t you tell her how much we love Kath?" Zach fell silent at Zean’s final words.
"Can you answer that, Zach?"
Not a single word came out of Zach’s mouth. Zean gave a bitter smile, lost in his own grim thoughts.
"Haha, I knew it you’re always so easily provoked by others rather than trusting your own mate. You really believed Kath was a curse, didn’t you? I never once believed in those ancient tricks people use to bring her down."
Zach clenched his fists tighter and forced Zean out of his mind.
His thoughts drifted back to the moment he had hurt Kath. His logic and emotions had been at war. Seeing his classmates bully her had broken him inside. He was ashamed to admit it his pride was greater than anything else. He didn’t want anyone to see the flaw hidden in his perfection.
Zach took the painting he was holding. It was a small portrait he carried with him everywhere. He lifted it to his face, breathing it in deeply until it felt as if the painting itself had been drawn into his lungs.
"Forgive me, my love, Kath," Zach whispered softly, like the wind.
He walked toward the wall of his room, where a black cloth covered a quarter of it. Zach pulled the cloth down until it fell away.
The wall was filled with paintings of a woman his mate. The sight stirred something deep and tender in Zach’s heart. He smiled faintly.
"You must know that I love you," he murmured.
"Alpha."
Zach’s eyes widened at the familiar voice, and he quickly pulled the cloth back over the wall.
"Luna Amarylis."
"What are you hiding behind you?" Luna Amarylis asked suspiciously, her gaze sharp on her son’s tall, broad frame.
"Nothing," Zach lied flatly.
"Did I ever teach you to lie, Alpha?" Luna Amarylis stepped closer to him.
"I’m sorry, Luna. May I ask you something?" Zach, who had been looking down, finally spoke.
"Of course, Alpha. You can ask your mother anything."
"Luna, what if the one I love isn’t Keona?" Luna Amarylis frowned deeply at Zach’s sudden confession.
"So you mean… you don’t love Keona?" she asked, trying to interpret his words.
"It’s not like that, Luna."
"Then what? I already offered you a kind and gentle woman like Keona, and you agreed back then, Alpha. If you loved another woman, you should have told me from the start, so I could have canceled the engagement. Now you’re only hurting two women at once, Alpha..."

"Today, we’ll be practicing the spear technique."
"This is a skill most werewolves use in times of danger..."
"Miss Kath, why are you daydreaming?" Kath immediately snapped her attention to the instructor teaching the class. Everyone’s eyes turned toward her with sharp gazes.
"Maybe wash your face first so you don’t look so dull?" the teacher added cuttingly.
"Hahaha!"
The whole class laughed at the teacher’s remark about Kath’s face. Embarrassed, she lowered her head and ran out of the classroom.
Kath rushed to the restroom to wash her face. She turned on the tap and splashed cold water over her skin.
When she finished, she hurried back toward the classroom but halfway there
"There she is! Get her!"
"Wha—what’s going on?" someone shouted as a large group began chasing her. Panic surged through her veins, and her instincts screamed for her to run.
Kath sprinted away from the academy, through the thick forest that seemed endless. Her heart pounded violently. Where could she go now?
"Help!"
Her foot caught on a thick tree root, and she nearly tumbled into a deep ravine.
"Grab her!" ordered Blaire, stepping forward from the crowd.
"What did I ever do to you?!" Kath screamed, her voice raw with the pain she’d buried for so long.
"Let go!" she struggled as two academy students gripped her arms tightly.
Alexa stepped forward and slapped Kath’s face again and again until blood trickled from the corner of her mouth.
"Why are you all so cruel? I’ve never done anything wrong," Kath said weakly, her breath coming in short, ragged gasps.
"You’re a curse."
"A whore."
"Disgusting." The insults rained down on her like stones.
"If Keona knew you were bullying me, she would hate you all," Kath said, her voice trembling. "I’ll tell her everything if you go too far." Keona would surely scold them she had to. Kath couldn’t take it anymore.
"Hahaha, Kath, my dear sister, are you looking for me?"
Keona’s voice cut through the chaos as she stepped out from among the crowd.
"Big sister, they’ve gone too far!" Kath cried, desperate for protection but Keona only walked slowly toward her.
"I’m the one who told them to."
"Wha—what?" Kath stared at Keona in disbelief. Keona smirked and gripped Kath’s chin tightly.
"You didn’t hear wrong. I’m the one who told them to bully you. And I’m the one—" Keona paused, leaning close to Kath’s ear, whispering coldly—
"—who made them hate you."
"No! That’s not true!" Kath shook her head violently.
"And one more thing. Every day you talked about how much you loved Alpha... it made me want to take Zach away from you. I just wanted to see your face when you lost at everything..."
"What did I ever do wrong?"
"It’s because you’re so... tempting," Keona sneered, her smirk carved deep into her face.
She stepped back from Kath’s ear and turned to leave.
"Keona, you can’t have done this!" Kath screamed, her heart shattering. It was all a trap set by her own sister. How could she be so cruel?
"Push her down."
"No!!!" Kath shrieked as the two students holding her arms shoved her over the edge of the ravine.
"Goodbye..."
“Aunty Bella, when will Mother come here?” Kenneth walked sluggishly toward Bella, pouting Keenan beside him doing the same.“Be patient, my darlings, Kenneth and Keenan. Mother will surely come. Just wait a little longer.” Bella gently cupped Kenneth’s chin. She wanted to reassure them that their mother would definitely return.“I really miss Mother, aunty,” Keenan responded. Bella deeply understood the longing they both felt for their mother.“Yes, aunty misses her too. But we also miss Zale we’re used to playing with him. We feel guilty for leaving him behind when we ran.” Kenneth and Keenan lowered their heads. Both of them were burdened with guilt for abandoning their little brother.“That wasn’t your fault. Perhaps it was destiny. Your mother still has important work to do with your younger brother,” Bella explained, hiding the truth.“We understand, aunty. Maybe Mother really is very busy there. But… is she okay? And why did she suddenly have urgent work over there?” Kenneth as
Ale opened the window of her room. The wind immediately rushed inside. The morning air was so refreshing. The chirping of birds perched on the trees filled her ears. But there was also a noisy sound that disturbed Ale’s hearing.Ale looked down from the castle and smiled. Right below her room was the training arena of the Archery Academy. It reminded her of her past.Ale let out a bitter smile. Her past had been so terrible that it left her disabled for life. She clenched her fists. She would repay that pain more than double. This was her mission.“If I didn’t love men so much, maybe I would’ve become a true archer,” Ale said with a flat expression.“Loving is a weak thing. Because of it, I’ve always been hurt in every way.” Ale’s face remained emotionless. A deep sadness clutched her heart.“Mother.” Ale’s hands loosened. The anger in her face vanished instantly.“Oh, my princess is awake?” Ale walked towards her daughter, who was sitting on her bed.“Mother, last night I dreamed abo
“Bella.”“Finally, Ale, you mindlinked me.” Bella was happy that after such a long time, Ale finally contacted her. She had tried multiple times to mindlink Ale, but Ale seemed to have disappeared.“How are Kenneth and Keenan?” Ale asked eagerly, showing just how much she missed her two sons. She felt the urge to hug Kenneth and Keenan tightly.“Hm, they’re doing just fine. Kenneth and Keenan want to see you they really miss their mother. And one more thing, the school is asking for parents to attend a school event.” Bella said from the other side. Usually, during school events, Ale would always come to see her three children.“The teacher also asked about Zale, why he hasn’t been attending school.”“Please tell them Zale is accompanying his mother abroad.” Bella nodded in understanding. She couldn’t possibly say that Zale was lost. That would cause an uproar throughout the school.“I’m relieved that they’re doing well. I miss my two sons so much. I’ll try to attend.” Ale pressed her
“Zale.”“Where are you, darling?” Ale kept walking around the entire kingdom, searching for her child. Panic rose in her chest when she couldn’t find Zale anywhere. She even circled the same places several times until her body accidentally bumped into someone’s shoulder.“Uwow, my dear little sister!” squealed the person, stepping back slightly from the impact.Ale glared coldly at the woman smiling before her. She didn’t understand the woman’s intentions, so she decided to move past her. But the voice that came from the woman stopped her in her tracks.“Haha, I can’t believe you’ve returned after disappearing for five years. I must admit, you’re quite extraordinary,” the woman said, clapping her hands as she stepped right in front of Ale.“Move,” Ale said sharply, trying to pass her, but the woman refused to let her go.“Oh my, I can’t believe how brave you’ve become,” she said mockingly.“I don’t know you,” Ale replied coldly, her eyes fixed straight ahead.“Hey, I’m Keona, your sis
“Kenya, wake up.”“Humm.”“Open your eyes.” Kenya felt annoyed as Ale, her human, kept nudging her to open her eyes. She lazily and reluctantly obeyed. The black wolf slowly opened her eyes, and she was shocked to find many people staring at her. It looked like a concert Ale once watched in Chicago.Kenya stared innocently at the people there, including a handsome man who looked at her intensely, as if he wanted to devour her alive.“Don’t act recklessly, Kenya,” Ale whispered in warning.“What do you mean?” But Kenya didn’t understand the hidden meaning behind Ale’s words. She backed away fearfully, her legs still wrapped in something white.Because of her fear, Kenya recklessly transformed into a human, shocking everyone present.“Don’t, Kenya!!!” Ale screamed in her mind.“Da– darling?!” Zach muttered weakly as he watched the wolf he had saved transform into a human someone he was certain was his mate. But Ale had to face the misfortune of being completely naked in front of many pe
Zach was sitting comfortably with a cup of tea and a book in his hands. He crossed his legs as if a tea-and-reading session should not be disturbed. Steam drifted upward from the tea Zach had just poured into his cup.“Dad.”Zach shifted his gaze away from the book he was reading.“My baby.”Zach placed the book on the table. He stretched out both of his arms forward as if preparing to hug little Zale.“Come here.”With fiery enthusiasm, Zale ran toward Zach and embraced him.Zach lifted Zale’s small body and then sat her on his lap. He felt delighted by the presence of the little girl he had found in the forest.“You smell nice. Who bathed you, hmm…?” Zach sniffed the top of Zale’s head, her hair still half damp.“Luna Amarylis.”“No wonder you smell as sweet as strawberries.”Zach pinched Zale’s nose playfully, making her giggle.“I really like strawberries.”Zale spoke with heavy emphasis. She truly loved strawberries.“Really? If so, I’ll get some strawberries for you,” Zach said,
