Chapter 8

Author: Anonymous
Just like how Spencer was Natalia's childhood sweetheart, Drew was mine.

That said, I despised him when I was young because he always teased me.

Mom and Dad always advised me, saying, "He's a boy, so of course he'd be cheekier. You don't have to take it up with him over every little thing."

Naturally, I wasn't going to meekly do as they said. If he hit me once, I would hit him back tenfold.

Eventually, he became my shadow.

He tagged along with me from elementary school to middle school, high school, all the way to college.

I was very fond of him, but this fondness had transformed into a form of closeness that felt so surreal when I married him in the end.

There had always been a tacit understanding between us whereby we never openly spoke about our feelings for one another.

And my greatest mistake was agreeing to date Spencer without much thought when he pursued me.

I let out a genuine laugh at this moment.I picked up the artwork and smacked it lightly against Natalia's cheek. "If you've got the time to be thinking about men, you should put that effort into working on your designs instead. "That way, you would've known that Six Brothers' name was derived from a mythical butterfly native to North Arula. Then, you wouldn't have drawn a local, Slonian butterfly as you did in your design. What you drew has nothing to do with this brand."Oh, right. There's something else I forgot to mention." I let out a flippant laugh. "From today onward, I will be taking over as chairperson of Six Brothers' board of directors. You'd have to be a cat with nine lives to cause a commotion on my turf." It was obvious that Natalia was scared out of her wits. She pulled her phone out in a panic and made consecutive attempts to make outgoing calls. However, she failed to get through to the person she was trying to reach out to. I waved my phone at her. "Ms.

I nodded at the invigilator before leaving the competition venue. I counted down silently outside. "Three… Two… One…""Excuse me, I'd like to make a report of someone who cheated!" Natalia raised her hand in outrage. I stared at her quietly by the window, feeling like she was making a fool of herself. The invigilator looked toward her, stunned. "Ma'am, please do not yell at the competition venue. Otherwise, we will have to escort you out." This pathetic and lowly woman lived her days pretending to be pitiful while pleasing men. Yet, she had no tact at all. The invigilator gave her a stern glare. "Due to your behavior of disrupting the competition, you will be disqualified." Immediately after that, he took away her design papers. The expression on Natalia's face turned into one of absolute fury. I had never seen her like this up close in the past. Since I had come all the way here, how could I let go of this opportunity just like that? Natalia refused to give up.

I almost couldn't recognize Spencer when I met him at the entrance to the courthouse. He looked scrawny and no longer had that vigor that he used to have. When he spotted Drew by my side, a fierce glare flickered across his eyes instantly. However, a helpless look returned to his eyes just as quickly. The divorce was finalized speedily. To my surprise, Spencer openly admitted to the staff member at the courthouse about his affair."I was afraid that others would badmouth you…" I was rendered speechless. "You just worried others would think that I cuckholded you because I brought Drew along with me today? Did you?"But guess what, Spencer? Truth be told, I would truly rather be cheated on than continue having anything to do with you." Drew stood by the car, smiling sweetly at me. Why had I never realized that this young man had such a sweet smile? "My love, I'm here to pick you up to get our marriage registered. Let's get away from this unlucky place." "Sure, darling."

I could hear the sound of the rain on Spencer's end of the call. However, he did not say a word, and neither did I. Neither of us was willing to back down. Nevertheless, this time, he finally gave in first. "Didi, please give me another chance. I love you very much. You are my legally wedded wife, Didi. I'm sorry. I won't contact Natalia moving forward. If she ever appears before me again, I will shove her far, far away from me. "Please don't divorce me. I don't want you and Rosie to leave me. Please?" I lifted my head and looked toward the photo frames by the door. Mom and Dad loved collecting photographs from different points in my life. There was even a photo from the time when I brought Spencer home to meet my parents during my university days. We looked young and innocent in the photograph. At the same time, our eyes overflowed with feelings of adoration for one another. I scoffed slightly as I took the photograph down, tore it into pieces, and threw it into the tr

Spencer went out again that night. I knew who he went to see because Natalia had just called him to say that she was out drinking. My husband, the man I was legally married to, went to keep her company because he was afraid that she'd hurt herself. I could never mimic that sweet and coquettish voice of hers. "Spencey, is Didi mad? It was my fault for interrupting your trip, but I really didn't do it on purpose. Could you please plead with her for forgiveness on my behalf?" Spencer was fuming to begin with. Hearing that from Natalia made him even more frustrated at me. "Why are you apologizing? I was the one who suggested going to keep you company. It had nothing to do with you. It was Bindi who didn't know her place. You don't have to worry about her." Spencer spoke on the phone in a loud voice right at my door, as if he was making sure that I could hear him.Nonetheless, he had already broken my heart to pieces. I would no longer make a fuss or get jealous over him anymore.
