Oliver's POV

"Charlie," she says, as my eyes met hers.

I reached my hand out to return the loose papers, and she politely took them. As she reached her hand out to me, I noticed something gold and shiny wrapped around her wrist.

"That's a nice bracelet," I said, eyeing the charms that dangled, trying to get a better look.

"Oh, thank you, it was a gift from a stranger," she giggles, playing with the charms.

One charm especially caught my eye.

"Is that a sapphire charm?" I asked, trying to get a better look. She held out her hand so I could show me proudly.

It was.

Is this Leo's mate?

I could not bring myself to say anything else to her, but she still held a smile on her face. I was delighted but horrified for this girl. The fear was overpowering the delight, slightly because I knew the truth about what was going to happen to this little wolf sitting in front of me if it was true.

Charlie's POV

"Are you alright, Oliver?" I ask, but he only just stared at me, squinting his eyes as if he was confused.

He suddenly turned and ran away from me, pushing past other students in the hallway. I held in a gasp as everyone turned to look at me. I felt myself shrink deeper and deeper as I made my way to my locker.

"Charlie!" I heard a familiar voice yell, and I immediately recovered from that awkward encounter just a few moments ago. I turn to see Anna running towards me.

"Anna, oh thank god!" I shout as a reply, as I see her barreling through the crowd with her arms open wide. Pulling me in for a tight hug, I could see the gigantic smile that was spread across her face. Anna was the Beta’s daughter, which in turn made us best friends. She had long blonde hair, with green eyes. Everyone loved her, and she was always so confident which made you feel good to be around her.

"Oh my god, Charlie! There is a new boy in school, and everyone is talking about him. Blonde hair, with blue eyes. He's SO attractive," she shouted, shaking my shoulders as she swooned over Oliver.

"Wow, really..." I trailed off; my tone sarcastic but she took it as excitement which annoyed me. I started flipping through my journal trying to organize the pages, but I could see the frown form on Anna’s face as she noticed that I had become uninterested.

"His name is Oliver, and he has a very sexy accent! He’s from the Kingdom! Maybe he’s my mate!" Anna squealed. Her description of him continued, but I lost interest seeing as I had already met the famous Oliver, and he was definitely not my mate.

"What lesson do we have first?" I ask, trying to change the subject of the very peculiar person Anna was swooning over, even though I already knew.

"Art," Anna said, almost groaning.

I love art.

Especially dancing, but drawing and painting works too.

The bell rang, snapping us out of our conversations as we began our long walk to the classroom. People began pushing each other out of the way to get to class on time, which I never really understood. Half of the time, I thought that the people shoving did not really want to get to class on time, they just wanted to use their werewolf strength to hurt people. The vampires were much more calm, usually just walking smoothly towards their destinations. I always wondered what it would be like to look so flawless. They just seemed to glide everywhere perfectly.

Once we arrived at the classroom, we take our separate seats still talking the whole time. Oliver slowly walked into the classroom, eyeing the other students nervously. His eyes make their way to me and he walks over to the other side of the room, completely ignoring the open seat beside me. I shrink smaller into my seat, hoping that this awkwardness between us will go away sooner rather than later.

Mr. Hayes walked in, and our lesson finally started, easing my nerves.

"Good morning class, today we are going to be starting a new assignment-" he started, but I could not shake the feeling of eyes piercing my skin. I looked around to see Oliver, staring at me so intensely. He was definitely a werewolf, but why was he so hellbent on staring at me like that? If I was his mate, surely I would feel it; wolf less or not.

Mr. Hayes continued explaining the assignment, something about an inanimate object mixed with an animal.

Oliver suddenly rose from his chair, causing it to fall to the floor due to the strength of his actions. I held in a gasp as the chair crashed to the floor, as he practically ran out of the room not looking back.

My Hayes called everyone’s attention back to the class and continued explaining the assignment. However, I still could not focus on the class anymore.  I was not sure how he went from totally normal and friendly, to creepy and scared in a few moments of meeting him.

Did I do something to set him off?

Did I smell?

Was it even my fault that he was acting so strange?

The class carried on, and Mr. Hayes gave us time so we could start planning our assignment. Obviously, I was going to be drawing ballet slippers, maybe mixed with a snake or something. That could be interesting and something that I could work with since I had a perfect model to get ideas from.

The bell rang after the first hour of class and I packed up my things and made my way towards my tutor for free period. Anna and I said our goodbyes, and I turned to walk away. While daydreaming about our new art assignment, I felt my body crash into a thick wall. I realized it was a wall of muscle.

"I am SO sorry," I muttered, looking up at the person who I just hit into for the second time today.

"Oh my god, Oliver! Are you alright? You ran out of class, and I got worried for you," I said, but he just stared down at me.

After a few tense moments of awkward silence, he grabbed my wrist and began pulling me in the opposite direction of the library.

"Oliver, my class is-" I started, but was cut off by the sound of the door opening to the outside as he dragged me through to the forest that lined the school. I tried pulling him off me, but his grasp was so tight against my wrist. Even with the Alpha gene, I had not shifted so I didn’t bare the strength of the Alpha which frustrated me in this particular situation.

He continued to pull me as I began to fight back, trying to claw and push as we reached the edge of the nearby forest. He pulled me in deeper and deeper until he let go of my very bruised wrist due to him holding and pulling me so hard. He turned around, facing the forest and I stumbled backwards slowly rubbing my now aching wrist.

His eyes frantically searched the forest for something that wasn't there.

I was in the forest with a crazy person. Great.

Olivers POV

I felt like such a brute, doing this to her. She was not human, but I could sense that she has never shifted before. If I would have left her, I know Leo would have been pissed, so I brought her here. I raised my hands as a sign of surrender to show that I was not going to hurt her.

"I promise I won't hurt you, but you have to listen to me. You can't run," I say, making sure she understands. She nodded frantically, as she leaned back against a tree still holding the wrist that I dragged her by.

"Good," I say.

Now I must signal the Alpha.

"Alpha Leo," I say, through the mind-l**k.

"Yes Oliver? Shouldn't you be in class?" The Alpha answered, his tone emotionless and bored.

"You can't freak out when I tell you this," I say, trying to keep him calm.

"What is it, Oliver? You know that I'm very busy," he says in the exact same tone as before.

"I found her, Alpha. Charlie, your mate. She has your bracelet," I answered slowly.

And you’re sure?” He said, calculating his response.

“Yes, Alpha. 100%”, I said. After a few moments of silence his gruff voice responded.

"You must collect her and bring her home," he said, his tone much deeper than before.

I glanced over at her and she still had not moved an inch from before.

"I don't think that's such a good idea, Alpha," I start.

"Are you stopping me from meeting my mate once more?!" He growled, his aggressive tone sending shivers down my spine.

"Alph-" I start, until he cuts me off.

"I'll collect her myself, then," he says, disconnecting the mind-l**k with me.

Updates from fellow soldiers began popping up through the mind-l**k that the future King was on the move. Once I was updated that the Alpha had left the Kingdom, my nerves began to set in.

The Alpha was coming..
