Chapter 137

Author: Maureen Green
When Zac saw how Aren gently held Aspen and how she didn't resist, it sent him into a frenzy.

He thrashed violently as guards struggled to hold him down, screaming, "Aspen, you whore! You're already screwing around, and you still won't give up the title of Mrs. Fuller? Women like you deserve to die. You should've died!"

Aren instinctively covered Aspen's ears, shielding her from the filth pouring out of Zac's mouth. "Let's go."

"Yeah," Aspen replied, cheeks slightly flushed as she tugged on his sleeve to lower his hands.

Back when she lived in the Fuller residence, she had heard things ten times worse. Her skin had long since thickened—she didn't even register Zac's words anymore. They were not insults—they were just background noise.

Seeing her so calm made Aren's heart ache even more. He gripped her hand firmly and led her out of the building without another word.

He asked, "Pen, you said you wanted Colin to pay. But what's your real plan?"

He looked at her with worry in his

Aspen's abilities gained recognition from her team members, who were all filled with admiration for her.One team member said, "Ms. Nicholls, you're amazing! Working with you has taught me so much.""This is everyone's achievement. We couldn't have completed this proposal without your hard work," Aspen replied modestly.Another team member chimed in, "You're too humble. We all know this proposal's success is mainly thanks to you.""Alright, enough compliments. We need to keep pushing to win this project!""Yes, Ms. Nicholls!" the team members responded in unison.…Colin stood alone by the floor-to-ceiling window, holding a glass of red wine. Despite the lively scene, he couldn't shake the loneliness in his heart. His gaze pierced through the glass as if trying to penetrate the endless night, searching for a silhouette that had long disappeared. "Aspen..." he whispered, his voice carrying a subtle tenderness and nostalgia.Everything had become the past, like a beautiful il

Riley revealed the state of Fuller Group's preparations to Aspen, telling her that Colin was determined to win this time and that they needed to be careful in their response. He said, "Ms. Nicholls, Colin is extremely well-prepared this time. They've hired many experts and created a perfect proposal."Aspen replied, "I understand. Thank you for telling me this.""Ms. Nicholls, what do you plan to do?" Riley asked.Aspen said, "We'll face whatever comes our way. We need to be thoroughly prepared and prevent Colin from succeeding."Her team worked overtime on the bid proposal, staying late into the night every day to make their plan the best it could be. She personally supervised the team's work, demanding perfection in every detail and allowing no mistakes.Aspen exclaimed, "Great work, everyone! We must win this project!""Yes, Ms. Nicholls!" the team members responded in unison. Colin tried to contact Aspen again, but his calls went unanswered. He felt a wave of disappointme

Gwyneth opened the refrigerator and looked at the array of ingredients inside, feeling a headache coming on. She muttered, "Forget it, I'll just order takeout." Then, she picked up her phone and ordered several dishes that Colin usually enjoyed. Later when Colin was home, Gwyneth said in a sweet and flirtatious voice, "Colin, I made your favorite dishes. Come try them."Colin looked at the food on the table but had absolutely no appetite. "I don't feel like eating. You go ahead."Gwyneth asked with concern, "Colin, what's wrong? Are you feeling sick?"He replied, "I'm fine. Don't worry about me."Gwyneth felt hurt seeing Colin's cold demeanor. She didn't know what she'd done wrong to make him treat her so distantly. She asked cautiously, "Colin, are you still upset with me? I know I shouldn't have mentioned Aspen before, but I was only thinking of your well-being."Colin said, "I'm not upset with you. I'm just... just not in a good mood."She tried to reason, saying, "Col

Zac dismissed her concerns and said, "He's probably just tired from work. Don't overthink it."Gwyneth shook her head and explained, "No, it's not that. I feel like he's thinking about someone else. Yesterday, I saw he still has photos of Aspen on his phone. Do you think he still has feelings for her?"When Zac heard Gwyneth's words, his expression immediately darkened. "Colin is such a jerk! Gwen, don't worry. I'll definitely help you teach him a lesson!"Gwyneth quickly said, "Zac, don't be impulsive. It's not the right time yet. The most important thing for us is getting Fuller Group's shares. We can deal with everything else later."Zac nodded. "You're right. We can't tip our hand too early."...While organizing files in Colin's office, Riley accidentally discovered that Colin frequently looked at news reports about Aspen. He couldn't help but find it strange. After all, Colin and Aspen's relationship had completely fallen apart. So why was Colin still keeping tabs on Aspe

Aren gave Aspen the details about the investor conference, then added, "I think we should give it a shot. If we can land this project, it would greatly benefit our company's growth."Aspen nodded and said, "You're right, Aren. This is an opportunity we can't miss. But Colin's situation is pretty bad right now, and I'm worried he might do something desperate."Aren looked at Aspen tenderly and reasoned with her. "Pen, don't worry—I'll protect you. Besides, I think we should focus on the investor conference for now and temporarily set aside Colin's issues."Aspen thought for a moment and realized Aren had a point. She nodded and agreed, "You're right, Aren. We can't let Colin's situation distract us. The most important thing now is to prepare thoroughly for the investor conference."...At home, Gwyneth was looking through Colin's phone, her heart filled with jealousy and resentment. She'd accidentally discovered Colin's photo gallery and seen the screenshots of news articles fe

  • Kicking Him to the Curb   Chapter 357

It was late at night, and only a dim bedside lamp illuminated Colin's bedroom. He lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. The company's problems had already given him a splitting headache during the day, but Aspen's name was like a thorn deeply embedded in his heart, preventing him from finding peace. He quietly picked up his phone and opened his photo gallery, which contained several screenshots of news articles featuring Aspen. In the photos, Aspen looked vibrant, confident, and radiant—completely different from the gentle wife he remembered. He stared at the photos for a long time until his eyes stung, then slowly put down his phone. When he closed his eyes, Aspen's smile appeared in his mind—the smile that had once belonged only to him. He turned over, trying to fall asleep, but it was all in vain.Gwyneth came out of the bathroom and, seeing Colin still tossing and turning in bed, walked over and softly asked, "Colin, why aren't you asleep yet? Are you feeling unw

"I'm fine," Colin said."What did the doctor say?" Gwyneth asked."The doctor told me to quit drinking and get plenty of rest," Colin replied. She said, "That's good. I'll take good care of you."Colin remained silent as he stared out the car window at the passing scenery, lost in thought. He recalled all the little ways Aspen had cared for him over the years. Whenever he got drunk, Aspen would always make him hangover soup, massage his temples, and stay by his side until he fell asleep. On the other hand, Gwyneth would just make him a cup of honey water and play on her phone, seemingly indifferent to his well-being.Colin suddenly felt ridiculous; he'd pushed Aspen away with his own hands. So what right did he have to miss her now?Just then, his phone rang—it was Riley calling. "Mr. Fuller, we've got trouble. We've lost another major client!" Riley reported anxiously. "What? What happened?" Colin's expression changed dramatically. Riley explained, "I'm not entirely sure

Just then, Chester walked in. "Aspen, I have some news, though I'm not sure if I should tell you.""What is it?" Aspen asked. He explained, "I heard that Colin hasn't been in a good mood lately, and he's making a mess of things at the company. He seems to be pushing all the blame onto you."Aspen said flatly, "Let him say what he wants. I have nothing to hide and don't fear him slandering me.""But I also heard he's been drinking heavily lately, and his health is deteriorating," Chester continued.Aspen felt a slight twinge in her heart, but she quickly suppressed the feeling. She simply said, "That's his business. It has nothing to do with me."Chester nodded. "You're right. We should just focus on our own affairs."...In Colin's office, he was yelling furiously into his phone. "Useless! You're all useless! You couldn't even handle such a simple project—what good are any of you?"He hung up and slammed his phone onto the desk. After a while, Gwyneth walked through the door

Gwyneth said, "Alright then. Get some rest, and call me if you need anything.""Sure," Colin mumbled before closing his eyes.Gwyneth watched Colin, feeling a wave of disappointment. She silently gathered her things and walked out of the office.Colin heard the door close and slowly opened his eyes. …Riley placed a stack of documents on Aspen's desk with a serious expression. "Ms. Nicholls, take a look at these financial records from Fuller Group that I recently found."Aspen put down her pen and picked up the documents, examining them carefully. As she read, her brows furrowed deeper. She said gravely, "There are so many problems with these accounts."Riley nodded. "Exactly. I suspect someone in Fuller Group is falsifying financial records, and the amounts involved are substantial."Aspen smirked. "It seems Colin's troubles are even bigger than we imagined. This is perfect timing for us.""Ms. Nicholls, what will our next move be?" Riley asked. "Let's not do anything ye
