Chapter 526

Author: Maureen Green
Colin froze for a moment, completely caught off guard by Aspen's icy demeanor. He quickly rushed after her, blocking her path before she could get away.

"Aspen!" Colin called out urgently, his voice carrying a note of desperation.

Aspen stopped in her tracks and looked up at Colin. Her eyes were stone cold, devoid of emotion, as if she were looking at a stranger who meant nothing to her.

"Mr. Fuller, is there something you need?" Aspen's voice was crisp and distant, lacking any warmth whatsoever. She spoke as if she were handling business matters rather than facing her ex-husband.

Colin's heart sank, the chill cutting through him like ice. He took a deep breath and forced a smile, extending the bouquet of flowers toward Aspen.

Trying desperately to win back Aspen's heart, he said sincerely, "Aspen, I know I was wrong before, and I shouldn't have treated you that way. I'm here to apologize to you. These flowers are for you, and I hope you can forgive me."

Colin quickly noticed the unusual activity online as well. The overwhelming negative coverage that had been plastered everywhere suddenly vanished without a trace in just a short time, as if it had never existed at all."What's going on? How did all those negative news stories just disappear overnight?" Colin asked in shock, unable to believe what he was seeing.Riley feigned surprise as he responded, "You're right, Mr. Fuller. I find it strange too. Those stories just vanished like someone waved a magic wand and made them disappear. It's incredible."Colin's brow furrowed deeply, his mind racing with suspicion. He didn't believe for a second that the negative coverage would disappear without reason. Someone powerful had to be pulling strings behind the scenes. "Who could it be? Who has that kind of power to control everything from the shadows?" he muttered, his voice filled with confusion and disbelief.Riley suggested that perhaps since Aspen's company was thriving, it wasn't s

"Colin, are you really that busy? You don't even have time to come see me?" Gwyneth's voice trembled with a hint of disappointment and hurt.Colin let out a tired sigh, his tone filled with helplessness. "Gwyneth, I know you're not feeling well, but the company's been overwhelming lately. Once this period settles down, I promise I'll make time for you, alright?"Gwyneth knew pushing any further would only backfire. She took a deep breath and forced herself to swallow her frustration and bitterness. She mumbled, "Alright, Colin. I understand you're busy. I won't bother you anymore... Just make sure you're taking care of yourself too, okay?""You too. Get some rest," Colin said quickly before hanging up the call.As the dial tone rang out, Gwyneth sat frozen, her expression darkening by the second. "Colin, you're being so cold to me! Aspen, this is all your fault!" she hissed through clenched teeth, hatred flaring in her chest once more.Meanwhile, Aspen and Aren had finished thei

Colin listened to Riley's report, his expression growing darker by the second. His tone edged with irritation as he asked, "So you're saying we still can't figure out who's behind all this?"Riley quickly tried to explain. "Mr. Fuller, while we haven't pinned down the mastermind yet, I strongly suspect this is the work of a competitor trying to drag down the Nicholls Group while they're on the rise.""A competitor?" Colin muttered, frowning deeply as he sank into thought.Riley kept pushing. "Think about it, Mr. Fuller. Nicholls Group has been gaining massive traction lately, especially after the Aetheris partnership. That kind of success is bound to spark jealousy. They're spreading these rumors to smear Ms. Nicholls' name and damage the company's credibility."His words struck a nerve. Colin had already been uncomfortable watching Aspen and the Nicholls Group surge forward, and now Riley's theory fed perfectly into that unease."It's always the same type—people who can't stand t

Aspen and Aren arrived at an elegantly decorated restaurant. Soft, ambient lighting poured down from above, casting warm glows that danced across the tabletop. A gentle melody floated through the air, wrapping the space in a calm, relaxed atmosphere. "This place has such a nice vibe. After such a long day, it feels good to finally unwind," Aren said with a soft smile, his gaze resting gently on Aspen.Aspen nodded lightly, her face showing a hint of relief. "I agree. My nerves have been on edge these past few days because of the Aetheris Group collaboration, but now I can finally catch my breath."The server brought over exquisite dishes, and Aren thoughtfully cut Aspen's steak and placed it on her plate. "Eat more—you've lost weight," he said with a tone that carried barely perceptible concern. Aspen felt a warmth rise in her chest. She looked up at him and said softly, "Thank you, Aren. You should eat too."Aren smiled and began eating, but his gaze never left Aspen. "By t

After dinner, Gregory personally walked Aspen and Aren out. He said with a warm smile, "Ms. Nicholls, Mr. Jefferson, I look forward to seeing you both again.""Goodbye, Mr. Mora," Aspen and Aren responded with polite smiles as they got into the car. Aren started the engine."Pen, it's been a long day for you. You must be tired," Aren said gently.Aspen smiled and replied, "Not at all; it's just part of my job."Aren looked at her with deep affection in his eyes....Meanwhile, online chatter about Aspen had once again reached a boiling point. Gwyneth continued to stir the pot, trying to paint Aspen as some manipulative woman hungry for power. She even exploited Sophie's death to attack Aspen, calling her an "unfit mother". Someone wrote, "Aspen is downright evil—she didn't even spare her own daughter!""I heard she used any means necessary to climb to the top, even causing her own daughter's death!" "How is a woman like that qualified to be a mother? She's scum of society!"

"Colin, I really don't know..." Gwyneth's voice trembled as if she had suffered some terrible injustice. "How could I ever do something like that? I-I only want the best for Aspen..."He remained silent for a moment before asking, "Could these news stories be something Aspen staged herself for publicity?" "I-I don't know... My head hurts so much... Colin, I feel terrible..." Gwyneth's voice carried a sobbing tone. When Colin heard Gwyneth mention her headache, his heart immediately softened. He said gently, "Alright, Gwyneth, don't overthink it and just get some rest. I believe you.""Okay..." Gwyneth's voice was choked with emotion. "Colin, you're the best..." After hanging up, Colin remained uneasy. He felt that things weren't as simple as they seemed....The collaboration between Aspen and Aetheris Group progressed at lightning speed. After thorough negotiations, both parties finally reached a preliminary cooperation agreement. Gregory couldn't stop praising Aspen's capa
