The day started out like any normal day – well at least that's what I hoped for.
It was a Saturday, and I was having one of those weekends where I get up early even though I don't have school. I took out my phone, attached it to a speaker, and let some music play because I didn't feel like going back to sleep.
As soon as I got my laptop, I started humming along to the song while searching YouTube for any fascinating culinary and baking videos. Seriously, some of the recipes are so good that I believe they should be released as a paperback. I was watching one of my favorite channels when I noticed a second voice singing along to the song.
As I carefully turned my head to my window, I spotted Prick the hybrid outside humming the tune. Chills ran up my spine.
What is he doing here!?
He's a stalker, so that's not surprising. It's something he's already admitted. But it was beginning to anger and irritate me. He already follows me on weekdays, and now he's following me on weekends!? Seriously!?
I grabbed my phone and started scrolling through my music and played another song.
Prick's face seemed astonished and perplexed when the song changed halfway through, which I found amusing. Before returning to the chorus, he tapped his finger to his chin as though in thought.
"Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone. I'll be waiting; all that's left to do is run~"
When he continued to sing, my jaw fell. I'm not sure why he's still singing. He's also singing along to Taylor Swift's song. And I’ll be damned when I admit that he’s fucking good at it.
I went through my phone again, this time playing a song from a different genre. Not only was he still singing, but he also managed to imitate Ariana Grande's high note — although in a male voice.
"Oh baaabyyyyyyyyy~!! This is the part when I say I don't want ya. I'm stronger than I've been before."
Goosebumps appeared on my arm as he hit every note there is. How the hell is he doing that?
Instead of picking up my phone, I grabbed my laptop from my side table. Is he confident in his ability to sing all of the songs? We'll see what we can do!
I started to search for some random Metal music and hit play on something called 'All Nightmare Long'.
"'Cause we hunt you down without mercy. Hunt you down all nightmare long. Feel us breathe upon your face. Feel us shift, every move we trace." I felt more pissed off than ever when he still sang the song and even did a headbang.
Urgh!
In my rage, I started playing other tunes. They were all in distinct genres. From love songs to ballads, rock and roll, and even some random Japanese tunes.
And you know what sets me off more that he still continued to sing? The fact that the guy even TRANSLATED it to English when he sang the Japanese tunes.
"Argh!" I yelled and turned off the music on my laptop. Prick jumped in surprise as I gave him a look out the window after my outburst.
"Hey. That was uncalled for." He said. "And could you play that song again? I like it."
I let out an angry sigh and marched towards the window. That pesky hybrid must not have anticipated my next move because he almost fell when I threw my windows wide open. I don't even worry about him getting in my room because he was not properly invited after all.
As soon as Prick was able to balance himself did he look back at me. He grinned showing off his deep dimples. "Are you inviting me in?" He asked in a hopeful tone while bathing his lashes.
"No," I responded sternly, glaring at him with venom in my eyes. "I'd like you to leave me alone and find someone else to bother with! You're following me around like a pest, and it's getting annoying! I don't know who you are, and you don't know who I am. Why don't you just go back to where you came from!? I don't need a vampire-werewolf boy following me around for the rest of the week. And it makes no difference to me if you can break me like a toothpick. This bullying is over for me. Before I call the cops, get the feck out of my life!" I let out a shriek. Because my parents are currently at work, I don't have to worry about them hearing me downstairs. I had the entire area to myself.
Aelfric gave me a critical stare. His expression had lost all of its flirtiness and fun. In other words, he appears to be enraged. He leaned down as far as he could without touching the invisible barrier that prevented him from entering because he had not been invited. "I'm going to act as if I didn't hear all of those words flowing from your lovely mouth. I'm not afraid of the cops, either." I had shivers down my spine when he murmured something so dangerously low. "But, love, whatever you say, I've already decided that you're mine and mine alone, and I'll follow you wherever you go." He leaned back and winked. "I assume you're in one of your monthly moods today so I'll let this one slid. " he grinned, and as he walked away, he said, "See you at dinner!!" Then he vanished.
I couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief and was about to close the window when my attention was drawn to something. From the trees on the other side of the roadway, a figure was watching me. Despite the fact that I don't have werewolf/vampire vision, I recognized the guy as one of the men I scared to help Al the night we first met. Before walking away, he pulled out something that looked like a camera and pointed it at me.
I gasped and immediately shut both of my windows and blinds closed and leaned to the wall next to it. When I decided to peek outside, the man was gone making me question if it was all my imagination.
Weird. What was the point of that?
☺☺
Al kept his word since he didn't show his face to me all morning and afternoon, and I didn't see him outside my window or anywhere near our house. I decided to make the most of the little and uncommon freedom I've had since meeting him by watching N*****x and baking chocolate chip cookies to pass the time.
I always feel at ease when I'm baking. I adore how each ingredient would combine to make a lava-like mixture, which would then bake into something wonderful and scrumptious.
I heard our front door open as I was taking the cookies out of the oven. I exited the kitchen to see whether anyone had arrived. It was my mother and father. They were off work early on Saturdays, as they always are. On Saturdays, they would only work half-days, and Sundays are family days, so they would not go to work.
My father lifted his nose and sniffed the air. "Something smells good." He commented when I ran over to greet them with a hug. "Cookies?" He guessed.
"Chocolate chip," I confirmed.
"You better not put too much sugar in it. It's not healthy for your father who would gulf it all down in one sitting." Mom said as she removed her shoes. Always being the worried mom.
"Don't worry, mom," I said. “I did not put the whole bag of sugar this time.”
Mom came over and kissed my forehead. "Could you prepare the plates? I'm going to cook dinner soon."
"Can I help?"
She smiled. "Of course."
"Yes!" I said and gave her an awkward lip tug for a smile.
Seeing my struggle, my mother sighed. "You don't have to force yourself to smile, Gabby." She said and patted my cheeks. "Now go prepare the table and meet me in the kitchen, alright?" She winked before heading off to the kitchen.
As I considered my mother's remarks, all I could do was stare at her back. I tried to smile, but I couldn't. I don't know how to grin without seeming like a serial killer anymore. Forcing myself to stop smiling must have taken a toll on me, but I suppose it's for the best.
I went into the dining room, grabbed a rag, and began cleaning the table. After that, I went to the drawers and got some plates, forks, and spoons, as well as some glass. Then, I went to the kitchen to see if my mother had already prepared the ingredients for tonight's meal, I placed them nicely on the table.
"Mash potatoes, pumpkin soup, chicken, and ribs." My mother told me as soon as I stepped foot into the kitchen.
"Sweet," I said and we started to make dinner. I was assigned to cook the potatoes and chicken while mom will cook the ribs and pumpkin soup. Mom has this special recipe for the rib sauce that is why she's making them.
Just as I finished smashing the potatoes and setting the chicken on a plate when our doorbell rang. "I got it!" Dad called out in the living room. Mom and I continued to prepare our dishes. "Um...Gabriella honey? I think it's for you."
For me?
"Who is it?" I called out and refused to leave my dish until I knew who it was.
"He says he's a friend of yours," Dad called back.
At this, I started to become more confused and wary. What friend? I don't have friends.
My mother must have thought of it as well, for she paused in her work and looked at me with interest. I shrugged as I looked at my mother, letting her know that I, too, had no idea who it was.
I reached back and undid my apron and threw it over the counter. I washed my hands in the sink and dried them with a towel before I headed for the living room where dad and this so-called 'friend' is.
I noticed my father standing near the door, conversing with the person in front of him. He was tall, powerful, and slim. His hair was nicely styled, and he was dressed casually in a fine black polo shirt and dark-colored pants. I was curious about him because he appeared to be an ordinary boy next door. But it wasn't until I came closer that I recognized that face and smirk directed towards me.
Aelpric Wachamacallhim.
A young boy with brown hair and a combination of sea green and turquoise blue eyes walks in the wallway of their mansion. He was following a middle aged man while he was telling him about the history of their family. “I don’t understand why I have to learn about this.” The young boy says this while grumpily kicking the carpet. “Young Master Gabriel!” Rupert, the man that he was following and also the butler of their family, cast him a disapproving glare. “Please stop. You might hit and break something!” The boy rolls his eyes. He places his hands in his pockets with a huff. “Can we just skip this for some other time? I have football practice to attend to.” The butler raises a brow at him. “Didn’t your father ground you for three days because you hit someone?” “Just let me do anything other than give me a history lesson about the second Alpha! I mean, what’s so interesting about his story anyway?” Gabriel tried to keep his temper in check because his wolf might just decide to tak
Al barely looked up when Deindra leaps and morphs in the air, shifting into his wolf form to attack. Al barely managed to move and roll away when he landed, but that did not stop Deindra when he runs to chase Al and aimed for his throat. Al raised his paw to protect his neck from getting bitten, but ended up with a bleeding leg. He screams in pain and stands up on his back legs to swipe Deindra’s wolf with his other front paw. As an alpha wolf, there’s no doubt that Al is bigger than Deindra. Even though he is weak, his hits still pack a punch and Deindra released his hold on Al’s paw. Al could have ended it right there, but I guess the delirium that he got from the pain was still in effect because he started to become whoozy. I made a mistake. I was wrong to believe that Al could have handled the situation. We failed to consider the after effects that the curse would cause him. I shouldn’t have listened to him. It doesn’t matter. It has already passed. The only thing that I can
Their worried looks frightened me long before I felt Deindra grab me from behind. His grip on my wrist was so tight that I teared up a bit at the pressure. “I greet thee, Alpha Aelfric Beaumont. This humble beta wolf welcomes you.” “Fuck you.” Al straight up raised his middle finger at his old beta. The distaste in his eyes were so clear when he addressed Deindra. “Stop calling yourself beta when you only got that place because of your father. It was his last request that I chose to grant. If it were up to me, I would have picked a different beta. Someone who isn’t a spoiled wanna be alpha.” Al smirked. “I let you play alpha for a while, but now that I am back, you retaliate and cry like a baby.” Deindra’s growl almost burst my eardrum, making me wince. I really hope that Al will stop teasing him, especially when his beta has me captive. “But you won’t be Alpha for long, you know.” A cocky grin spreads across Al’s lips. “Are you going to challenge me for the position?” His eyes mo
I felt relieved when I saw Tyrelle standing before us, but it was soon dismissed when I saw the look on his face. It was a mixture torn between anger and regret. “How long have you been hiding, pup?” Al broke the awkward silence by asking him a question. “Enough to hear your sappy backstory.” I am guessing that it was supposed to sound insulting, but the right tone just wasn’t there. In fact, he sounds more sorry than insulting Al. He sighs. “I guess you were not behind her kidnapping, huh.” “You got that right.” Tyrelle must not have liked the arrogance in Al’s voice because this time he starts to frown. He marched over to us until he was just a few meters away from Al and I. “That’s nice and all, but I’ll be taking Gabriella home now.” Tyrelle looks at me, and his expression softens when he smiles. Home. The sound of it just reminded me of my parents. “Tyrelle, how are my parents?” “They’re doing fine. They’re worried. The whole pack is looking for you.” He starts to of
Getting chased by wolves should be something that I should be all too familiar with by now. I know that it is kind of sad that I have such a thought, but the world that I am living in isn’t exactly that kind either. I hear the wolf closing in behind me, and this time, I know that I have to act on my own. One of them almost got to me, but I was able to blast it off with a strong gust of wind just enough to send the wolf flying out of my range. There’s no way that I'm going to outrun the wolves. I’m just a mere human - or witch - running in the woods, which is their turf, barefooted. I turned around and waved my hand, sending a cutting beam of light that knocked a branch to the ground and blocked their path. At least that bought me some time. I never thought that there were this many wolves who were against Al as a leader. I know that I have heard a few wolves outside of my room, but not more than a dozen! My feet were bleeding as I climbed a muddy slope. Rocks and branches had pie
I was chained and bound to the bed when I regained consciousness. Not only that, but I was even blindfolded. Doctor Kusher really knows how to use my limitations to his advantage. He knows that I have trouble using my magic if I can’t see. Since I have no sense of time here because there’s no window and I am usually blindfolded or shrouded in darkness. My only update on the outside world is Julie. She’s usually the one who would give me updates, as she’s the only one that’s assigned to feed me during meals. According to her, Tyrelle is already aware of my disappearance and has his whole pack looking for me. According to her, their first suspect is Al and his pack, which will undoubtedly lead to a pack war soon. I wanted to ask her about my parents, but I did not want to talk to her because I was angry at her betrayal. Hell, I literally can’t even look at her because I am blindfolded! “Gabriella, you can’t ignore me forever.” She says. Her voice is low, like she has regrets. “Ple
