I took the files on my desk, running my eyes through the records of demons and thralls beneath me. While the ferryman manages the high-tier demons, I do the same for my thralls. I rarely have anyone sent to hell or become a rogue, unlike the other high-tier demons. Another reason why they hated me was that I could become the next ferryman.

My thralls knew better—I’d rather end them myself and send them straight to hell than let them roam like goddamn rogues after banishment causing threat not only to mortals but us in the higher position.

I could recollect the last time one of my thralls became a rogue—tha fucking monster did some real damage before he was finally dragged to hell. Maximus, as a high-tier demon, would be an even bigger nuisance.

I heard a knock on the door, but didn't turn my attention to it, then I heard the person enter—no, they were two, and that wasn't Emily.
