I drove off as soon as the car door shut.

I didn't mind Reid, who wasn't starting to resume his blabbering; he hardly stays quiet—I knew that about him.

He only leaned his head on the headrest as though deep in thought. His thoughts were so quiet that I could hardly hear him—or maybe he wasn't even thinking about anything.

"Ah... I needed this. Thank you so much." Reid whispered.

I didn't reply to him as I continued driving, my gaze focused on the road.

I would have just teleported, but I needed to pick him up as promised, and before we went home, I needed to drop by somewhere too.

"How do you know I was here?" I felt his gaze on me.

"I watch your every movement." I lied even though such superpowers do exist.

"Whoa!" He chuckled. "I didn't know vampires were stalkers too."

I pulled the car to an abrupt halt, and I didn't miss its effect on him—if he hadn't worn his seatbelt, he would have hit his head so hard right on the dashboard.

"Are you offended? I am sorry." He glanced

The sudden gust of wind slammed into me, nearly knocking me off my feet. But I held my ground, bracing for the next attack—when I snapped my gaze toward it, and reality froze immediately."Show yourself," I said, my voice firm."You caught up quicker than I expected." I felt the corrupt atmosphere of a rogue, then a smoky, dark wind curled through the air, before solidifying into Maximus’s form.He was dressed in a black silk coat. His hair was rough and long, falling on both sides of his shoulders, my attention fixed on his white and pale face.It had been decades since I’d last seen him—back when he was still a high-tier demon, not this corrupted husk."I almost got fooled," I replied, clenching my fist."But you didn't. Looked like some of your members caught up, you are still as sharp as always." Maximus remarked."You know it is part of my job to get rid of rogues like you. I bet you're already getting too comfortable with having to rule as a king of a rogue." I'm sarcastic this

"Won't you go to the clinic?" Piper asked."I'm fine, really," I replied lowly, soothing my nose with the ice pack. My face probably looked like shit already."We should cross paths with those fucking assholes. Each of them!" Darren cursed. He hasn't even fought with them, as two guys had held him in place, not to defend me, while I got beaten up by the three bulky seniors.Only if they had come in one, I would have finished their asses off.We were in the stairwell landing. After the fights, almost all the students had returned to their classes, not to catch the attention of any of the seniors, nor I, who might pick someone to vent my anger on. Daren and I had started walking back to class when we met with Piper here. She had hurried to get the icepack, knowing well I was going to need it—in fact, she had always done that while Alvin was alive then proceeded to give us an earful."You’re having a new class period now, aren’t you?" I said glancing between Darren and Piper."Uh..." Pip

Mr. Vampire halted the car.I wasn't willing to alight from the car just yet but I didn't like the atmosphere in here either. Someday I'm gonna steal the car and drive it all I want."I'd be a bit late," I said, opening the door."Your phone?""What's it?" I asked back, already fetching my phone from my pocket. What was the use of acting stubborn? He got whatever he wanted after all.I stretched the phone to him and I watched him dial some numbers. He hung up, then returned my phone to me."Pick up whenever I call you." He said without glancing at me.I alighted from the car with the door closing itself. I opened the backseat door and grabbed my backpack.Killian soon zoomed off, the car's speed was smooth as fuck. I wasn't even the only person staring at the Lamborghini as it was driven off.Almost every student who arrived at the college that morning stared at the car.Godwin’s College was your average middle-class school—most of us had probably never seen a Lambo in real life until

I closed the door behind me and heaved a sigh. What was that? Staring at me as though I wouldn't leave his office alive. I swear I don't think I could continue living here.I turned to go but stopped on my track when I saw Ronan staring at me with a gaze that he obviously thought was intimidating. If he hadn't been a vampire like Killian I would have punched that annoying gaze out of his face. What the hell was their deal?I ignored him about leaving when he took a step blocking my path."What the fuck do you want?" I fired."You almost disrespected the boss."I scoffed irritably. "So... You wanna punch me?""You do have a gut for someone who's just a damn mortal—" Ronan didn't complete his statement when I took a step forward, my expression stern—daring him to complete his words.I was so done being seen as some weak mortal. They better just convert me to a vampire so they really would see what I was capable of.Ronan stepped back chuckling—wait... Was he intimidated by me?"You real

I took the files on my desk, running my eyes through the records of demons and thralls beneath me. While the ferryman manages the high-tier demons, I do the same for my thralls. I rarely have anyone sent to hell or become a rogue, unlike the other high-tier demons. Another reason why they hated me was that I could become the next ferryman. My thralls knew better—I’d rather end them myself and send them straight to hell than let them roam like goddamn rogues after banishment causing threat not only to mortals but us in the higher position.I could recollect the last time one of my thralls became a rogue—tha fucking monster did some real damage before he was finally dragged to hell. Maximus, as a high-tier demon, would be an even bigger nuisance.I heard a knock on the door, but didn't turn my attention to it, then I heard the person enter—no, they were two, and that wasn't Emily.I raised my head at the person, looking away from Ronan, who I knew had entered, as my eyes fixated on Reid
