"What are you doing..." I paused seeing a smirk appear on his face. How dare he!

No one had ever given me an attitude as this stranger was beginning to do. Standing all tall and mighty, hands tucked into his pocket, watching me as though I was some helpless shit at his mercy—which was true though.

"I guess you already made up your mind." He started, leaning away from the wall.

"I haven't said the word."

"And you have three seconds to..." He paused, and I could feel him run his eyes on me.

God, I wanted to punch that proud smirk away from his face. I hated the way he stared at me.

"What would you gain by having me freed?" I asked. There was a hint of sarcasm in my voice.

Having kept eye contact with him seemed to be making me feel helpless, and I wanted to look away, but still, I couldn't! He should be terrified of me, not the other way.

Shit! Had being in jail affected me this much?

I was walking on the sidewalk of the pedestrian road. Mr. Vampire was probably behind me, he had remained the same when we were on our way to the house—walking behind me like a goddamn guard.I didn't care anyway. It was better being seen with someone like him—yet, where are we even going?I stopped on my track and exhaled before turning to him. As expected, his hands were tucked into his pocket, his emerald green eyes staring boringly at me."Where are we heading to?" I asked flatly."I have somewhere to be at before we go back to my place." He responded taking a step forward to me. "Or do you have somewhere else to be?" He asked, a bit sarcastically, before walking away."But—don't you have a car or something?" I shouted but he didn't even budge. Was trekking a thing for vampires?Ah, shit!I continued walking—now being the one behind him, my eyes fixed on him.He had a broad back, I wonder how muscular he would be without clothes on. He looked thirty-five on our first meeting; righ

"Aren't you going to enter?" I asked, still behind Reid, who had been staring at the house before us.He turned to me. "I told you we didn't have to come here." He said."Are you going to tell me what to do?""Or what?" He scoffed. "You saved me, yet I'm going to repay it. You don't have to command me around like some fuckin errand boy, and I'm not willing to go into that house if it's on your order!"I breathed out. I tucked my hand into my pocket and I began taking a step forward; he wasn't willing to move, standing his ground and staring at me as though he was ready to punch my face.He had refused to come here—his family house where he lived as well. I didn't care why he refused, but he needed to see for himself that he was freed and he owed me his life and would be willing to do all I asked him to. I stopped a few steps away from him—lowering my head to meet his stern looks that obviously meant nothing but a weak mortal trying not to look weak.Reid definitely was the right choi

We were seated at the dining table, and the sound of our cutlery meeting with the plate was the only noise in the room.Emilia wouldn't stop staring at Reid—he wouldn't quit staring at her either almost as though they were beginning to flirt with each other."How did you know I was here?" I took the piece of steak to my mouth."I heard from the others. You'd be staying here for the time being, I thought you could use my help." She replied before taking a glimpse at the mortal across her. She smiled at him. "I hope you're enjoying your meal?""Of course..." He responded. "You made this? Damn, it tastes so good.""Uh, not exactly. But yeah, I helped with it." Lia replied."Ahh, yeah... What would a pretty lady like you be doing in a kitchen.""Oh, you're so funny!" Lia chuckled. "I heard your name is Reid.""What else could fit a handsome boy like me..." He chimed in. "Could you grant me the honor to know your name, pretty—""Speak again, and you're mute for the night." I cut in before

As realistic as that looks, there was no way that was real. No bloody way he did that. I thought as I settled on the floor leaning my back against the wall. It's been close to three days that I've been here, in this messed up cell, but no one has even paid a visit to me. When I saw that green-eyed freak, I thought he was a lawyer. But turned out he was just a magician. My thought suddenly drifted to when I had been with him. How quiet the city had been, God... Did it feel good to be finally out of here? I've missed my life.I rested my head on my arms, my eyes stung and I blinked rapidly. It would be so weak of me to cry.I don't want to be looking so haggard or helpless with the officers or cellmates.I clenched my fist as I tried hard again not to remember what Detective Garfield, the man who had ordered my arrest, told me.•"Your fingerprints were discovered on the knife used to kill Alvin. How do you explain this evidence?" The detective had asked and I only watched him with noth

It's night already... At least a little bit peaceful. I would have just teleported, but my powers are weak, and I can't do so much for now except walk amongst this crowd, my black dress different from their overly designed clothes, but do they care?I stopped at the front of a police station after walking for a while, glancing at it. Now all I have to do is find someone who is in dire need of help. We demon help mortals, but we receive more from them.I closed my eyes and everything around me stopped moving, yes. I need concentration. The air around me suddenly seemed intense and wild. Evidence that I was connected already.Okay, there are too many corrupt mortals right here, and they all seem to have given up to fate, I told myself, unable to find anybody who seemed to help. Maybe I should just visit the hospital.I was about to open my eyes when I felt the presence. Of course, a corrupt mortal who wanted help. It did seem like he was being accused of something...I tightened my clos
