Chapter 3

Margot clung to Curtis as she kissed him passionately and resentfully.

No normal man would be able to resist such temptation, including Curtis. He wrapped his arm around her and began kissing her back.

He tossed the divorce papers into the table drawer with his other hand before lifting Margot. They slowly made their way upstairs, their kiss never stopping.

The journey was easy due to how light Margo was.

It was only when he placed her on their bed that Margot realized she shouldn't be doing this in case their actions might hurt her baby.

So, when Curtis leaned closer to her, she quickly pressed a hand against his chest.

Curtis, having lost all reason, was insistent on kissing her.

Margot knew what the kiss would lead to, so she frantically stopped the man. "Stop! I'm not feeling too well, so why don't we stop here?"

"Too late," Curtis groaned hoarsely. He was about to carry on, but Margot hurriedly pushed him away and curled into a ball at one end of the bed.

Curtis was confused. "What are you doing?"

She was the one who started things, so why was she hiding now?

Margot stammered, "I-I'm on my period."

Curtis went silent as he began calculating her cycle. He realized it was already that time of the month.

Annoyed, he ordered, "Don't do that to me when you're on your period."

How was he going to take care of his needs now?

He slid off the bed and went to the bathroom.

Margot watched his retreating figure and heaved a sigh of relief. That was a close call. She'd nearly lost her rationality back there.

Still, since he didn't push her away, didn't that mean her method was working?

After changing into her pajamas, Margot grabbed another set of pajamas and brought it to the bathroom. She called out, "I'll leave your clothes here."

"Okay."

Margot plopped herself onto the bed as she waited for him to come out.

A while later, Curtis emerged, wearing a set of gray silk pajamas.

Margot forced herself to stop thinking about what happened. She opened her arms and whined, "I want a hug."

Curtis didn't object. He went closer and drew her into his arms.

His face and tone also softened. "You're not mad anymore, right?"

Margot shook her head adorably. Without a word, she rested her head on his shoulder.

Curtis placed a hand on her behind and squeezed. "Did you lose weight again? How are you so light?"

"It's all your fault." Margot pouted.

Curtis frowned. "Then, I should be begging for forgiveness. Are you hungry? Should I tell Doris to make you something?"

Margot nodded, still feeling upset.

He gently patted her back. He was about to carry her downstairs when the phone on the bedside table rang.

He retraced his steps to fetch it. At the same time, Margot saw that someone called "Tammy" was calling him.

Without letting go of the woman in his arms, Curtis answered the call.

Since Margot was leaning on his shoulder, she could clearly hear the pitiful voice coming from the other end of the line.

"Curt, I accidentally sprained my ankle, but I'm alone at home. Can you come over and help me?"

Curtis instantly agreed. "Alright. I'll come over right now."

Immediately, Margot lost her temper. Refusing to let go of him, she demanded, "Who was that? The woman you're going to marry?"

"Yes." Curtis didn't bother denying it.

Margot felt like she was suffocating.

Struggling to keep her anger in check, she asked, "Do you have to go?"

"Yes."

"And if I don't let you?"

Exasperated, Curtis said, "Margot, don't be unreasonable."

"Unreasonable? You're my husband! Yet, you think it's alright for you to go see another woman?"

Margot dared him to walk out right now. She wasn't going to let him walk all over her just because she was young.

Instantly, Curtis' expression hardened. "Margot Stone, what gives you the audacity to talk to me like that?"

His fierce expression made Margot fearful, but she was still unhappy.

"I don't care. You can't go. If you do, I'll make you regret it."

Curtis couldn't care less about the threat as he went to change his clothes.

Margot could tell that he was still going to leave, so she began panicking.

Forgetting her pride, she begged, "Please don't go. Please don't abandon me. I'll give you a child, alright?"

Curtis, who finished changing, walked over to the bed and coldly gazed down at her.

"Margot Stone, the woman I am going to marry is back. She's the rightful Mrs. Crosby. It's time for you to return the position to her."

His words struck Margot like lightning. Her ears began ringing while her heart throbbed agonizingly.

She sat there, devastated. "Do you love her that much? Is she more important than me?"

"We will still be getting a divorce," Curtis responded in a roundabout way.

"Why?" Margot couldn't understand why he was being so heartless.

Had he merely been acting for the six months they'd been married?

Margot refused to believe that what they had was fake. With tears churning in her eyes, she tried once more to convince him to stay.

"Will you still marry her if I had your child? Or, are you going to abandon me no matter what?"

Unable to stand seeing her cry, Curtis averted his eyes.

He said coolly, "I'll marry her, but I won't abandon you. If you're ever in trouble, I'll definitely help you."

"Who cares about that?" Margot screamed. "We either live as a happily married couple and never betray each other, or we pretend to not know each other. You can only have one of us in your life."

Curtis lost his patience and responded, "Whatever."

With that, he left the room, slamming the door on his way out.

Distressed, she cried, "Come back, Curt!"

No matter how she screamed, he had still left. Margot collapsed onto the bed, a sharp pain tearing into her chest.

She didn't understand how they got here. She was his legal wife, yet he was abandoning her for another woman.

Even if he were going to marry that woman in the future, shouldn't he at least respect Margot while they were still married?

As she lay in bed, Margot felt herself slowly sinking deeper into an abyss. Fear overwhelmed her.

She spent that entire night shivering in fear, her mind utterly blank.

Now that it was Monday, she needed to attend lectures at university. After all, even though her marriage wasn't going well, she shouldn't neglect her studies.

After a long and tiring day of classes, Margot checked her phone. She still hadn't heard from Curtis.

One of her classmates next to her said, "Let's go to the cafeteria, Margot."

Margot got up to follow her friends.

On the way to the cafeteria, another girl suddenly approached Margot. "Are you Margot Stone?"

Margot nodded. "What's the matter?"

"Someone is looking for you at the gates. They said to hurry over."
