IANNA’S POV
My heart broke when I saw that, I never meant to make her cry, Goddess, she has been good to me and yet now she was starting the day with tears because of me. “Oh, Ianna, I don’t know how you do it, you are so strong my friend. I don’t think I can bear any of this.”
I sighed. “I bear it because I am used to it, now, let’s go to class.” She helped me fix myself and then we walked to class. When we walked in the teacher stopped and all eyes were on us.
“It’s not even a week and already you are getting Christina into trouble Ianna. What exactly do you want to see happen before you understand that your presence in other’s lives is nothing but a curse?” Mrs. Laurence said.
Before I could answer Christina answered first. “She did nothing wrong mam, I was the one who was feeling unwell, and she was only helping me.” Mrs. Laurence gestured for us to sit while saying under her breath. “She will be the end of you if you are not careful.”
I heard her and so did Christina, but we said nothing. She continued with the lesson until the bell rang for the end of the period. We went to another class. Nothing out of the ordinary happened after that. That was before Christina, and I separated after school.
Pamela, the one who was afraid Christina was going to take Luka from her came to us as we waited for Christina’s driver to arrive. “Hey Christina, what are you doing this weekend?” I wondered what she wanted, “Nothing, why?” asked Christina. I was curious to know as well. “We are having a new year bonfire party; you know that when the Moon is full, we celebrate and make sacrifices to the Goddess.”
Oh, well. The pack has these parties all the time. If it’s not the royal family having ball after ball. “I know all about that, let me think about it and I will let you know tomorrow.” Christina answered.
“I can’t wait that long; we are finalizing the guest list today.” Pamela insisted. “All right then, I will go and add a plus one.” She said and Pamela walked away. “I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to go. I heard Pamela say she doesn’t like you because of how her boyfriend Luka looks at you.”
Christina laughed. “She needs not to worry; I will not be getting involved with the likes of Luka. I plan to wait for my mate.” I smiled at her, I thought she was going to think I made the whole thing up.
“You are going to be my plus one.” My eyes widened, I don’t go to such events, people don’t want me there and I don’t want to be amongst those who don’t want me. “No, I can’t go, no one wants me there and besides. I don’t go to such events, there are many people there.”
Many people means more bullying and more pain and humiliation for me. “Don’t be silly, I want you there and so we are going. I know for a fact that my friend will never let me go alone.” Oh, she is good. Using our friendship like that but I like it.
“Even if I wanted to go, I have nothing to wear.” All the clothes I have were hand me downs from my sister. My mother never buys me new clothes. She says she will not waste her money on the likes of me.
I don’t mind though, as long as I have clothes on my back, food in my stomach and a roof over my head. “Let me worry about that.” she winked at me before getting into the car and her driver driving off.
Oh, dear Goddess, did I just agree to go to a party? I have never been to a party of any kind before. My mother never allowed me, and I never wanted to go. I hate crowds and I don’t have the clothes to wear to such.
So, every time Lissa went out, I stayed home, cooked, and cleaned. Maybe it would be better now that I had a friend.
The weekend came sooner than expected. Now it was Saturday morning, and I was serving my mother and sister some breakfast and trying to figure out a way to ask her. “Why are you hovering, what do you want?” my mother snapped.
I took a deep breath, here goes nothing. “I was invited to the bonfire party this evening and I would like to go.” Lissa burst out laughing like I said the funniest thing she has ever heard. “You were invited, hahaha, tell me, who would invite you?” she laughed.
“My friend was invited, and she invited me as her plus one.” Lisaa stopped laughing and glared at me. “You can go and embarrass yourself there because I will not be buying a dress for you.” My mother said bringing Lissa’s smile back.
“There will be no need for that mother.” Mother scoffed. “Let her go mom, I want to see her humiliate herself.” Mother nodded and I was relieved. Christina said she will take care of the dress and I trust she will.
Evening came soon and Lissa got ready. I sat in the lounge waiting for Christina. There was a knock on the door, and I jumped up and went to open. “Ready to get dolled up?” Christina asked, pushing past me carrying two dress bags.
Closed the door and followed her. “Show me your room so we can change.” I lowered my head in shame. My room was not up to standard, it was too small, but it was clean. “Why can’t we go to your place to get changed?” I asked with my fingers crossed.
“Then we will be late, look, I don’t care what your room looks like.” I sighed then led the way to my room. When we got there Christina did not comment but placed the dresses on the bed. “Now sit, I must do your make up.” I hesitantly sat down and let her do what she wanted with me.
By the time she was done, I did not recognize the girl looking back at me. I never saw myself as beautiful, but I must say, today, I look beautiful. Christina sat down and did her makeup as well. “Wait until you see the dress.” she said excitedly.
When she was done, she gave me one of the dresses. “Try it on.” She said, I opened the bag and a beautiful black dress sat inside. I have never worn something so beautiful in my life. I teared up.
“Don’t you dare ruin the work of art I did on your face with tears.” I chuckled, fanning myself with my hands. “It’s just that I never wore something as beautiful and expensive as this.” She hugged me. “Now, you are. Come on get dressed.”
I got dressed and she gave me shoes from one of the bags she was carrying. I wore them and I looked like something out of a dream. “You look amazing, my beautiful flower.” Today I can believe that.
AEGENThe guard went looking for Ianna’s phone in all the places she went to toady, but he could not find it. I tried calling it again, but it kept ringing with no answer. I didn’t think much of it when I asked my head of security to track it.But I started to worry when she told me that she tracked it to the woods close to our spot. Our spot was between the palace and the deep-water pack. There were only three people who knew about that spot and one of them was dead.Me, Ianna, and my dead sister. Also, I knew that Ianna would not have gone to that spot without me. We promised we would find time to go there together. Plus, the guard said she never left the palace grounds since I left. That only meant one thing, that her phone was stolen, and the culprit was someone who worked in the palace. I wouldn’t have cared about finding the phone if it wasn’t for the serial killer we had in our hands.I could not take any chances and there were no coincidences with these kinds of things. So, I
IannaI studied until noon then I went and got lunch for myself. I was starting to feel dizzy, and I knew it was because I didn’t eat breakfast. Aegen would have been angry with me if he knew I didn’t eat breakfast. He would have accused me of starving his child. Not knowing that I didn’t have appetite this morning. After eating, I felt sleepy, and I decided to go and take a nap for a while before going back to my studies. The week has ended and there were still no new leads on the serial killer. Aegen was getting frustrated by all of it. I could hear it in his voice very time we spoke on the phone. But there was nothing either of us could do about it.This person has to be stopped. One way or the other he has to be found. I told my guard I was going to take a nap for a while and that he should not let anyone disturb me. I missed having a friend in the palace. Now that Aegen was not here, I didn’t have anyone to talk to. It was lonely. The omega bless their souls try to talk to me and
AEGENLeaving the palace was difficult, not it was not but leaving Ianna was. Especially now, knowing that she might be in danger. We didn’t know who this was, we didn’t know where he was. He could be at the palace for all we knew and yet. I was leaving her behind. My heart was not at ease, but I had to go. She wanted me to be the best warrior in the kingdom and not her mate and father of her unborn child. She trusted me to get this person and put this matter to rest.It has been a week since I left her, and three more people have been killed so far. A she-wolf from the silver moon pack and a close guard to the young alpha of the deep-water pack. Jeyden. He too was killed the same way as the others.Another was the young alpha from the Golden Moon pack and this one was a friend of Jeyden. Now I believed that the person who was doing all the killings was after Jeyden, but we still didn’t know why.We were now back at the Deep-Water pack to question the kid. I want thinking this person
IANNAI sat there listening to Damon explain about this serial killer and I didn’t know what to do. Aegen and I have just taken over as leaders of the kingdom and yet the very first challenge we had on our hands had nothing to do with finances.Resolving pack disputes, no, our problem was bigger than anyone else’s. we had a serial killer in our hands, and we had no idea what to do or how to stop the person. I hear Damon saying they are trying to figure out what this person wanted, and I couldn’t care less about that.I wanted the person can be found. The only way to know what the person wanted was to find them and question them. “Tell me Damon, since you and my father have discovered what this person’s Amo is, have you not discovered what he wants already?”I mean, his actions and the scorpion should give them an idea what he wants. “It’s not that simple with this person. The Amo is the same, but that doesn’t give us anything at all. Just some killings done by the same person nothing
AEGENI watched from the window as my mother and Ianna’s father got into the car and left. She has been trying to talk to me since the coronation, but I would not hear any of it. She did something wrong and she needed to know that and learn. This is how Christina started her evil ways and because I forgave her when she did that. She continued to a point that she ended up almost killing my mate. Mother needs to know that we don’t do things like that I was not going to allow her to start now. What she did was vindictive for no reason because Ianna’s father chose her. Why did she have to go the extra mile rubbing it. That is one thing I will never understand.Ianna came and stood behind me. “You should have said goodbye to her.” I scoffed. “She is not dying but leaving the kingdom.” She came and stood in front of me. “You are going to miss her.”I took her into my arms inhaling her scent. “Of course. I will miss her; she is my mother after all and I love her. But, not enough to encourage
MICHAELIt was so good to see how well she was received by the kingdom. I knew they would be like that as soon as they knew who she really was. She too looked happy, I didn’t know if it was because of the crown or the pregnancy. But it didn’t matter. What mattered was that she was happy. But I wouldn’t say the same about Aegen, he looked bothered before going to be crowned. I asked his mother to go and talk to him. I didn’t want him taking the crown if he didn’t want to.My daughter deserved more than that, though I didn’t think being with her was the problem. I was sure it had something to do with his family. That was why I asked his mother to talk to him.“Penny for your thoughts?” I snapped out of it. “I was just thinking about Aegen and what could be bothering him on a day like this. Doesn’t he want the child?” I asked his mother. I didn’t know what to think and I didn’t want to leave Ianna if things were not right with them.“No, it’s not that, he is looking forward to being a fa
