CHAPTER 004: His Resurrected Mate

CONRAD’s P.O.V.

It’s been centuries of waiting… Yet, I haven’t found her still. I haven’t seen my resurrected mate… Nor even had a glimpse of her face. But I know that she’s here. The Moon Goddess will never break its promise, and I’m sure of that. I just have to make sure to find her on the right timeline… Before it became too late for me to turn her into a vampire.

Elio made a promise to me. That he will never stop looking for Heather. That he will find her no matter what, especially now that we knew that she is alive during this time, and that the resurrection had already happened. All my life, I’ve been waiting for that moment to come. For me to be finally be able to touch her once again… To feel her porcelain skin against mine. To make her my beloved queen once more.

I closed my eyes tightly shut, before pulling out an old portrait from my drawer. There, I saw her eyes once again. I smiled go myself, thinking that one day, no matter how long it may take, I will still be right here, waiting for her.

My thoughts were immediately cut short the moment that someone knocked upon the door of my office. I turned around, facing it’s direction before responding using my lowest possible voice.

“Come in.”

“It’s me, Conrad,” Athena started off, entering my office with her graceful walk and alluring eyes. Although I never really pay attention to that… Because up until now, only the face of my beloved mate, Heather, could make me feel something that I know, I will never be able to feel with anyone else.

“Athena. You are here. So, what happened in our opening ceremony? Did all the new students get in? How about the refugees? Do they feel safe in this place?” I asked her.

The main purpose of this University is to give home and shelter to those whom had been mistreated in the world. For those whom got hurt in the human realm and been abused all their lives outside of this place. Also, this will make it easier for me to wait for my beloved mate… Because this place can serve as a distraction while Elio is still trying to find her.

“I think so. Everyone already settled down by their rooms. I’m just here because I wanted to tell you something,” she stated, making me raise one of my brows upon her direction.

“And what is that?”

“Cali. She is still treating me the same. I know that I don’t have a right to complain to you about this but–” I immediately cut her statement off, not allowing her to finish.

“I can’t blame her either. After what you did to Elio.”

“But, Conrad! I did that for you!”

“I never ask you to do that. Conrad is one of my most trusted subordinate in running this University. His sister is like my own sibling as well. The moment that you hurt him, we are left with no other choice but to look at you that way.”

She shook her head, her eyes glaring upon mine. It landed on my desk, and there, she saw the old portrait that I was looking at a few moments ago, before she entered the room. I knew how much she wanted to be my mate… For me to finally forget my queen and be with her so that we can end this misery of looking for my resurrected lover. But I will never give up, not now, not even after another years of centuries of waiting. Especially now that the Moon Goddess seems to have granted my wish to see her again. Just to make her stop, I immediately pull that card, ready to shut her up.

“You know that Elio is still out there, looking for Heather. And he will never stop not until he can finally take my mate back here. So please, Athena. Just stop. You are a good warrior, a leader in this University. Please don’t ruin our bond by forcing a connection between us,” I reminded her.

She harshly dropped the folder down upon my desk, before storming out of my office in an ungrateful manner. A photo dropped on the floor, and I immediately picked it up. I sighed, looking for the folder to slip it back. But then, when I saw those eyes… Those perfect red eyes… I immediately knew that it was her.

“Heather?” I asked myself, panicking.

It’s like I have been drifted away from the present and been taken back to the past. All those sweet memories that I have with her… The broken promises that we shared together… The plan to build this University with each other’s help… All of that has been pushed away the moment that those filthy dogs ruined everything… The moment that they killed her. And now, I finally have the chance to see her again… But how? I thought she is a human? How did it happen that she managed to enter this Academy? And why would she do that?

Thousands of questions flooded my mind. I can’t believe that all I could ever think about is her. I held the picture in my hand, before I started rummaging through the folders with an empty photo. Thankfully, I found it. I finally found it. The only problem in that is her name… It is not Heather anymore. It was Agatha Fate Santillan. She completely changed, and I know that there is a possibility that she can’t even remember me at all. But that’s alright, as long as she is finally here. I will make her remember everything.

I could not resist the temptation to see her again. To meet her in an instant. If I will have to summon her by my office, then I will do it, even though she can’t remember anything. I grabbed the telephone, ready to call Athena, despite the fact that I knew she still mad at me for telling her those words earlier. She has to do her job, and I really need to see my queen right at this instance. Thankfully, she picked up the call within a few seconds.

“Conrad? So, have you felt guilty for what you said?” she asked me, sarcasm is visible by the tone of her voice.

“Maybe. But I need you to do something for me. The new student… Agatha. That’s her name. I want you to call her and ask her to come here, in my office,” I blankly stated, not wanting her to figure out the reason why I wanted to meet the new students. Knowing Athena, she will immediately get curious about this random action of mine.

“Fine. She will be there in a few minutes. Just wait, Conrad.”

“Thank you.”

She dropped the call, before I sat on my swivel chair, playing with the photograph on my hands.

“I’ll make you remember everything, my love.”
