Two months later….

I woke up this morning feeling lightheaded and nauseous. I mentally calculated the last time I saw my period and it was almost six weeks ago. And suddenly, the contents of my stomach came up and I rushed to the bathroom and vomited it all up. I sure hope it's not what I think it is.

I was interrupted from my thoughts by my phone's ringing. It was Ellie.

“Audrey, you need to see this,” Ellie said the minute I picked up the phone. “My place, 8pm, stat.”

“Oh, I'm doing great, thanks for asking.” I responded in a dry tone.

“This is not time for sarcasm Audrey. Be here in thirty minutes.”

“Yes mom.” I rolled my eyes as the call ended. I glanced at my bedside clock and saw it was a couple of minutes past 7pm.

I took the 5-minute drive to Ellie's condominium two streets over and honked very loud before putting my car in park.

I then walked into the living room where Liz and Courtney were already seated and waiting.

“Alright, I'm here.” I announced.

“Do you remember Mr. Green Eyes? The dude you sneaked off with that night we went to the club?” Ellie began.

“Yeah, that dude you left us for. You horny slut.” Courtney snided, side-eyeing me.

“I don't even blame Audrey, dude was hot as fuck.” Liz said nonchalantly.

“Well, I found him. On a gossip blog. Bitch you had a one night stand with a billionaire.” Ellie continued, showing me the blog.

LENNOX MERCHANDISE ON THE VERGE OF BANKRUPTCY DUE TO THE LACK OF AN HEIR.

On the cover photo was a photo of Mr. Green Eyes, wearing what looked like a tailored Italian suit, and black rimmed glasses. Holy fuck. He looked hotter.

And he was a billionaire? I literally left money on the bedside table thinking he was a hooker or something.

“Apparently, his name is Asher Lennox, he's the CEO of this billion-dollar jet company, which he inherited from his billionaire father. Now according to the blog, because Mr. Asher isn't married yet, there's this paranoia among the shareholders that there is no heir to the company yet, and so their shares are plummeting.” Ellie broke it down.

“I didn't just have a one-night stand with him, but I'm also presently carrying his child.” I said absentmindedly still staring at the picture.

The room went pindrop silent and all eyes became fixated on me, mouths wide open.

“You should close your mouths so a fly doesn't lay eggs in it.” I continued.

“Girl, tell me you're lying!” Courtney screamed, wide-eyed.

“What the actual fuck Drey, how long have you known this for?!” Ellie questioned.

“I don't know…I'm not sure, but, I was having some bouts of dizzy spells and nausea this morning.”

“Tell me you're fucking lying!” Courtney repeated.

“When was the last time you saw your period?” Ellie questioned.

“About two months ago.” I shrugged. I really didn't understand why they were making such a big deal out of it.

“What the fuck Audrey?!” Liz yelled.

“Oh my goodness, chill. It only happened this morning, so I think I'm just coming down with a fever or somethin-”

“Oh, shut the fuck up. You know very well you're pregnant Drey. You know.” Liz cut me off.

It wasn't until then that the reality finally hit me. I can't even deny that I have felt different for the past two weeks. I might be actually pregnant, not just pregnant, but for a billionaire that probably doesn't even remember that night.

If it turned out that I was, where would I even start? Even if I approached him with a positive pregnancy test, I'm not even sure he would believe me, he would even think I was one of those groupies that were interested in the money and fame his life came with.

My mother wouldn't care, but my father would kill me. Because his precious plans for me to be married to my ex by next year, has been ruined by me. I can't even imagine him finding out about this. I have to do everything possible to hide this from him.

“What am I going to do? Oh my goodness, I'm freaking out.” I fanned myself with my hands.

“You need to calm down, so you don't stress the baby.” Liz held my hands.

“We don't even know if you're actually pregnant for sure. You need to take a test, first things first.” Ellie said.

“I'm booking an appointment right now at the hospital for tomorrow morning.” Courtney began tapping away at her phone, booking the appointment.

“Thanks Court.” Ellie said.

“You don't have to thank me, just name the child after me if it's a girl.* Courtney shrugged.

“Hell no! So she would become a whore just like you are?” Liz shouted.

“Bitch, you tried it.” Courtney lunged at Liz while she screamed, which made me chuckle.

Trust my friends to always make every situation lighter with their crazy personalities.

The next day…

The next morning came, and I was filled with nerves. At some point, my hands were literally shaking. Ellie came to pick me up because I was too nervous to drive. We got there and Liz and Courtney were already waiting which made my heart melt.

We got into the hospital and I did the test. Afterwards, we all waited in the receptionist area for the test results. About 30 minutes later, a nurse called my name.

“Miss Holt? Here are your test results.” She handed a thin brown envelope and I swear, my heart palpitated. This is it.

“Take your time sweetie.” Courtney patted my back.

I blew out a long breath and took out the results from the brown envelop and scanned my eyes over the paper. When I finally saw it, all I could hear was white noise for ten seconds, I couldn't move.

“Oh my God,” I said teary-eyed, with my hands over my mouth. It felt like my whole world had come crashing down. I was literally scared, because the pregnancy was now a reality. I don't even know how I'm going to hide this from my father.

Liz grabbed the paper from me and her face immediately became somber. And so did Courtney and Ellie.

“What am I going to do now? He's never going to accept that it's his. My life is ruined.” I said as a tear fell down my cheek. My father would find out and he would disown me for real.

“Shhhh, don't say that, love. Your life is not ruined.” Liz coaxed me.

“But it is!” I shook my head.

“Look, Drey, we're not going to go down without a fight, okay? I need you to get yourself together and stop throwing a pity party. I have a plan, but first, we need a sonogram.”

Third person POV.A week passed, and in that week silence became a third inhabitant of the mansion. The house—so large, so elegantly decorated, so full of staff—felt like an empty cathedral where sound dared not echo. The clink of dishes at mealtimes, the muffled footsteps of housekeepers, the occasional closing of a door: those were the only reminders that life still pulsed within its walls. But between Asher and Audrey, there was nothing. Not a word. Not a glance. Not even the accidental brush of fingertips when they crossed paths.Audrey felt herself fraying at the edges. Her sleep was thin, fragile, torn apart by jolts of panic. Every time she closed her eyes, the dream returned: the faceless woman chasing her, knife glinting, shadows stretching longer than her breath. Even awake, she felt watched. The text still sat in the crevices of her mind, a haunting reminder—I warned him. She had let it replay over again in her mind but she hadn’t told Asher, or anyone. Some nights she w

Third person POV.The morning after Audrey's nightmare was oddly quiet. The sunlight filtered through the curtains, but it felt colder than usual. Audrey stared at the text on her phone over and over again: “I warned him.” She wondered in gut-wrenching fear who exactly had sent her the message, and who was the “he” the message talked about. Did this have to do with her father? Has one of his shady business partners come hunting her down? She stared at the message until her vision blurred, trying to convince herself it was a mistake, a coincidence, heck–even a prank. But the trembling in her fingers and the invisible weight in her chest told her it wasn’t. Someone was watching. And maybe that someone knew. Knew everything about her, maybe even about the baby. Maybe the contract. Maybe everything. She deleted the message quickly, shoved the phone under her pillow, and curled up again, arms wrapped around herself as if they could keep her safe. Her heart pounded for hours until she h

Third person POV.Asher stirred from sleep earlier than usual. The dawn light hadn’t yet broken through the thick curtains of his bedroom, but he was already sitting upright, his mind curiously at ease for once. Last night’s dream was one he wished he wouldn't wake up from, it lingered in his memory and he didn't want it to leave. Audrey in his arms, the softness of her breath against his shirt, the taste of her lips. The ache in his chest had shifted into something warm, dangerous, and real, and he was willing to explore it. He pulled on a grey cashmere sweater and a pair of black slacks, his movements unusually light for a man who carried the weight of an empire on his shoulders.Downstairs, he found Audrey sipping a glass of orange juice, her oversized sweater barely managing to hide the curve of her growing belly. She looked up, surprised to see him so early.“Morning,” he said, voice lower than usual. He let his eyes sweep over her subtly as he walked into the open-plan kitche

Asher's POV. The city lights flickered beneath his bedroom windows as Asher stood still, his jaw locked and shoulders rigid. The text on his phone glowed ominously in the dim room. Madeline: We need to talk. You owe me that much. He didn't owe her anything. But the ghost of the past often knows where the cracks in the armor lie, and Madeline knew just where to press. She always had. Stunning, venomous, and dangerously persuasive—Madeline had been a drug he could never fully quit. Until Audrey. They came back from the birthday dinner and she softly excused herself, and left him alone in the living room. He has been quiet and lost in his thoughts on the drive back home. He knew she planned to slowly waltz into his life again, and he didn't understand why. Madeline made it quite clear the last time that she didn't want to deal with him any longer, so what changed? The sound of Audrey's soft footsteps padding down the hall brought him back to reality. Audrey. And while

Asher’s pov My ex and first love was back in town. I first met Madeline in the first formal event I ever attended. She was the first gorgeous woman I ever paid any attention to. It was also on that crisp evening that I bagged my first private jet sales. She was a supermodel, evident in her 6’3” height and a jawline that could cut diamonds. She was the typical mean girl, with cash to throw around and an attitude that was rotten. I didn't know what exactly drew me to her, but I needed the distraction. Plus, she was easy on the eyes. We hit it off immediately and started some type of ‘on and off’ relationship. Meaning, whenever she was in town, we would meet up and do all sort of things people in real relationships did. And then she would get a modelling gig and disappear for months after. It worked for me, I wasn't too keen on being committed to a woman and I wasn't ready to. I didn't ever let us be seen in public together–she always had paparazzi following her around–so we a

Audrey's POVIt's been weeks since the ‘Mason incident’, and things have been different. It wasn't very obvious, but I could tell it.Asher's been extra protective of me in more ways than one. He's employed a ton of maids around the house to ensure I didn't lift a finger. He personally assigned a security detail that followed me everywhere outside the house, be it the mall, or my pilates class. He's also amped up security around the mansion, which did nothing but amplify my anxiety. It seemed like he was preparing for some type of war, and it made me really anxious. It was really getting on my nerves, and I made up my mind to question him about it. Away from that, my life has been pretty bland since the marriage. It's been a vicious cycle of me waking up to breakfast by my bedside, going on lonely walks in the garden, blinking at the large TV in the living room, and occasional pilates classes.I missed my old life of freedom, I missed my friends and endless parties, I missed my socia
