The day was here. The day I was going to execute Ellie's plan. I woke up feeling slightly better and hopeful. And I already planned that if everything didn't go as I wanted it to, I would still leave with my baby. I guess my motherly instincts were already kicking in, because I already wanted to make sure that I gave my child the best life possible, father available or not.
I drove to the middle of the city and parked right in front of Lennox Merchandise. It was a very big glass building that looked about 20 floors. I handed the valet my keys and did my power walk into the building like I owned the place. Big shades on, I really looked like I was here to strike a business deal.
I walked up to the receptionist desk, inquired about the floor of Green Eyes’ office and immediately made my way to the elevator. The doors of his office were big brown oak doors, and there was a smaller office by the side. I think that was his secretary.
“I need to see Mr. Lennox, it's an emergency.” I said immediately I walked into his secretary's office, cutting out a chance for pleasantries. The lady, who looked to be in her mid-twenties, eyed me from head to toe for about 20 seconds.
“Do you have an appointment?” She managed to ask.
“No, I do not have an appointment, but like I said, it's an emergency.”
“Well, you have to have an appointment before being able to see Mr. Lennox.”
I was getting impatient. “Is he in his office right now?”
“Yes, he is, but he's in a virtual meetin-”
“Perfect.” I said and began walking. That was all I needed to hear. I pushed open the big oak doors and walked into it and sure as hell, there was Green Eyes in all of his elegance, looking like I interrupted him mid-sentence.
His secretary came in rushing after me with fire darts in her eyes. “Ma'am, you're not supposed to be in here.”
“Melissa, what's going on?” He asked his secretary. His voice was even deeper than I remembered.
Whoever first made sleek suits had Asher in mind, because he looked gorgeous. His hair was tousled back, like he had ran his hand through them multiple times, but it still had that type of cute messy look.
His eyes, as green as they could be, looked like they held a thousand secrets, and the wildest oceans flowed through them. Couples with his full set of natural red lips, the man was irresistible.
I quickly brushed the thoughts of the handsomeness of the man before me and focused, I was here for business and business only.
“I'm so sorry sir, she just barged in demanding to see you, I'll have security escort her right out.”
With that one sentence, I acted fast.
“I have a business deal that might keep your company from going bankrupt, Mr. Lennox.”
I had his attention and his eyes became set on me, finally. It seemed recognition was setting in, so I continued. I grabbed the brown envelope containing the pregnancy tests and the sonograms, brought them out and dumped them on the table in front of him.
“You need an heir, so I'll give you one. But on one condition.”
He began looking through the pregnancy tests, before he dropped them and grabbed the sonograms. Realization had started to set in, and so he looked up from the picture.
“Which is?”
I channeled all of the bad bitch inside of me and said:
“You marry me.” I said looking dead straight into his eyes.
Asher's pov.
I remember her. The girl I had a one-night stand with some two months ago. If the sonograms and pregnancy tests she just dropped on my table were true, then this was getting interesting.
I let my eyes roam from her head to her toes, and she was still as drop-dead gorgeous as I remembered. Every other night in my life passed in a blur except that night, it was still as fresh as ever in my memory.
I cleared my throat and stood up to ease the tension that was begining to form in my lower body, and immediately took charge of the situation.
“Melissa, please excuse us.” My eyes were still fixated on her. I heard the door click and began walking slowly towards her. She didn't even flinch, but she kept on standing her ground.
Her resolution and determination was cute, sexy even, but she seemed desperate, and I needed to know why.
“What's in it for you?” I stood in front of her.
“What do you mean?” She asked innocently.
“You seem like a smart girl. You don't seem like the type of girl that goes around, offering billionaires a solution to their problems, if you don't already have something in mind.”
“I already told you what I want. A marriage contract, I give you your son and we do a court marriage for a year. After which we can go our separate ways.”
I stared at her. This was a good deal, if the child ends up being mine. I mean, seeing that I really needed an heir in my current situation. This was a solution, right in front of me.
And this also came at a time when I really needed a miracle. I haven't told anybody, but tumours were discovered in my brain two months ago and the doctor diagnosed me with cancer, informing me that I had a year to live.
Having a child in these circumstances will make me a happy person in these last few months of my life. Children bring joy, and I needed lots of it presently.
All these made it feel like the universe had really dropped a miracle right in front of me, and I was ready to hold on to it. But then again, why did it feel too good to be true? How do I know if it's really my child?
“Are you in or not?” She asked, impatiently.
“How do I know you're not lying, and that it is actually my kid?”
“I don't know? Perform a DNA test or something.” She shrugged.
She seemed so sure of herself. She might be telling the truth. And mentally calculating back to that day when I saw her at that night club and just couldn't keep my hands away, it was almost two months, which was more than enough evidence for it to be my child.
I stared at her and thought back to that night. This was supposed to be a one-night stand and just that. But she was irrestitably gorgeous, and the alcohol pushed me even further into her arms.
I've been a bachelor all my life, and this was exactly why. Engaging in relationships with women have never brought me peace, but instead, always led to one issue or the other. I blame myself for not using a condom.
I still remember the morning after, I woke up and she was gone, preferably. But what I didn't expect to see was a wad of hundred dollar bills on the bedside table. If she thought that I was some brokie on the streets or a hooker, that was a huge insult on my person.
And now here she was, standing in front of me, claiming she was carrying my child, and wanting marriage in return. I didn't like it. One-night stand situations were not meant to leave the hotel room.
“Do you think it's possible to perform a paternity test on a child that is not yet born?”
“Yes, I asked a medical doctor. We'll perform a Non-invasive Prenatal Paternity test. All they need is my blood sample, and your cheek swab. The results would be ready in minutes.”
“It seems you've done your research, impressive. When will you be ready for this procedure?” I walked to my desk, leaned on it and crossed my arms.
“Right now, if possible.”
“It looks like you've been through enough stress for today doesn't it? Now, I'm no doctor, but I assume that that is not healthy for the baby. You should get some rest. We will continue this tomorrow.” I said with finality.
“Okay, that's fine by me.” She tore of a piece of paper and began scribbling on it.
“What is that?”
"My number for you to reach me. I'll wait till midday tomorrow, and if you still don't reach out, trust me, I will be barging into your office again.” She handed the paper over to me and smiled sardonically at me.
I looked at it. “Wouldn't want that to happen again, would we?” I didn't smile back.
“Good.” She began gathering the sonograms and the papers back into the brown envelope.
“Alright, I'll be leaving. See you tomorrow, Mr. Lennox.” She stood up straight.
“Asher, you can call me Asher.” I spoke before I could even stop myself. It's like my body had a mind of it's own around her. I watched her turn around and her eyes lingered on me for a second before she looked away and put on her poker face.
“Okay, Asher.” She nodded, turned around and began her walk out of my office.
As she did, I suddenly felt a sinking feeling in my stomach, like trepidation was blooming. And I couldn't help but feel like this contract was about to bring a lot of trouble.
The door shut behind her and it's sudden sound brought me out of my thoughts and sent chills down my spine. I am not usually a fearful man, so this was weird to me.
I quickly brushed away the thoughts and mentally prepared myself for work. I would deal with the bull by the horns whenever it arrived.
Asher’s povMy ex and first love was back in town. I first met Madeline in the first formal event I ever attended. She was the first gorgeous woman I ever paid any attention to. It was also on that crisp evening that I bagged my first private jet sales. She was a supermodel, evident in her 6’3” height and a jawline that could cut diamonds. She was the typical mean girl, with cash to throw around and an attitude that was rotten. I didn't know what exactly drew me to her, but I needed the distraction. Plus, she was easy on the eyes.We hit it off immediately and started some type of ‘on and off’ relationship. Meaning, whenever she was in town, we would meet up and do all sort of things people in real relationships did. And then she would get a modelling gig and disappear for months after. It worked for me, I wasn't too keen on being committed to a woman and I wasn't ready to. I didn't ever let us be seen in public together–she always had paparazzi following her around–so we always kep
Audrey's POVIt's been weeks since the ‘Mason incident’, and things have been different. It wasn't very obvious, but I could tell it.Asher's been extra protective of me in more ways than one. He's employed a ton of maids around the house to ensure I didn't lift a finger. He personally assigned a security detail that followed me everywhere outside the house, be it the mall, or my pilates class. He's also amped up security around the mansion, which did nothing but amplify my anxiety. It seemed like he was preparing for some type of war, and it made me really anxious. It was really getting on my nerves, and I made up my mind to question him about it. Away from that, my life has been pretty bland since the marriage. It's been a vicious cycle of me waking up to breakfast by my bedside, going on lonely walks in the garden, blinking at the large TV in the living room, and occasional pilates classes.I missed my old life of freedom, I missed my friends and endless parties, I missed my socia
I stared at Asher and Mason in disbelief. Asher looked like he wanted to be anywhere else but here, and Mason looked like he was enjoying the situation. It felt like I was the butt of someone's joke, because the universe sure has a fucked up way of being funny. It seemed like all the decisions I made led me back to square zero, because Mason was somehow still entangled with my life. The air was filled with a thick tension before Mason finally spoke up.“You're married to my cousin, Audrey?” Mason asked in disbelief and what I perceived to be jealousy. “What did you just say to me? You cheated on me, Mason! We're broken up!”“So you married my cousin to get back at me?” He shook his head in disbelief.“When are you ever going to realize that my world doesn't revolve around you?” I asked exasperated. His selfish nature definitely increased and he still hasn't changed one bit. “I'm supposed to believe that your sudden marriage to my cousin doesn't have anything to do with you getting
The next day…Audrey's pov.It was the morning of the paternity test and I was so stressed, I wanted to get it over with already. Asher sent me a driver that picked me up from home and conveyed me straight to the hospital. When we got there, I spotted Asher leaning on a sleek SUV, in a tailored, Italian suit, as usual and glancing at his wrist watch. Whoever first made Italian suits definitely had Asher in mind because he looked like perfection. As soon as the car pulled up beside him, he walked up to my door and opened it. Irritation masked his features and he looked impatient.“You're fifteen minutes late.” He held my hand and helped me down from the car. “Well, excuse me for not making the traffic roll faster.” I rolled my eyes. I was not about to kiss some man-baby's ass, so if he had an attitude, he can shove it up his ass, I'm not dealing with it.He stopped and looked at me. He seemed surprised that I retorted back at him. His eyes seemed to trace my face before his phone ran

Two months later….I woke up this morning feeling lightheaded and nauseous. I mentally calculated the last time I saw my period and it was almost six weeks ago. And suddenly, the contents of my stomach came up and I rushed to the bathroom and vomited it all up. I sure hope it's not what I think it is. I was interrupted from my thoughts by my phone's ringing. It was Ellie.“Audrey, you need to see this,” Ellie said the minute I picked up the phone. “My place, 8pm, stat.” “Oh, I'm doing great, thanks for asking.” I responded in a dry tone.“This is not time for sarcasm Audrey. Be here in thirty minutes.” “Yes mom.” I rolled my eyes as the call ended. I glanced at my bedside clock and saw it was a couple of minutes past 7pm. I took the 5-minute drive to Ellie's condominium two streets over and honked very loud before putting my car in park.I then walked into the living room where Liz and Courtney were already seated and waiting. “Alright, I'm here.” I announced.“Do you remember M
