LOGINMy dress is dark blue, so I know he's talking about my cheeks and not my dress. Bastard.
We all stood around the low table I helped set up earlier. It had a large glass vase on top and eight smaller vases filled with sand around it, all in different colors.
“We wanted to keep this part private, just for the people who meant the most to us,” Law says.
“The idea is to pour each of our colors, showing the unity of this family we’ve created for ourselves,” Sarah explains. “We’ll keep it at home, as a reminder of this day, and for Shawn, of how much love surrounds him. We all have each other to depend on, no matter what. To love each other, no matter what.”
Don't you dare look at them, I ordered myself.
My eyes don't listen to me. They look up through my eyelashes and direct their gaze at Ezequiel and Jeremiah, who are standing in front of me. They look back at me. Without sly smiles, without raised eyebrows, and with too much sincerity. If I thought their other glances scared me, these ones terrify me. I don't know what they mean, and I'm afraid I do. I swallow and look down.
Sarah and Law add their colors first, adding Shawn's before Kamila and Jackson follow. I almost think they planned for Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and me to add ours at the same time. The colors blend together perfectly, and I smile at the sight.
"We wanted to thank you all for being part of our beautiful day," Sarah says. "It wouldn't have been the same without you."
"Nothing could have stopped me from doing it," I reply.
Trump's "big, beautiful" bill: An ambitious economic overhaul or a high-stakes political gamble?
Trump's "big, beautiful" bill: An ambitious economic overhaul or a high-stakes political gamble? "But uh..." Law smiles. "I need you to take Shawn now, Kamila, because I'm finally, finally, taking off my wife's wedding dress.""My wife!" I shout as Kamila pretends to cover her ears while Jackson takes Shawn from Law's arms.
"My husband acts like I'm not going to undress him first," Sarah responds immediately.
"I could have sworn I saw you grab his ass during your first dance," Jeremiah laughs.
—Of course.— Law frowns. —So, we love you all, and good night. Don't come knocking on our door for nothing. I don't care if the damn resort burns down.—
"Unless it's Shawn," Sarah adds quickly.
Law looks at Jackson and Kamila with an agreeing look, but says this better be important. Then, he picks Sarah up and runs across the sand at full speed the next moment. And as if he senses them approaching, I turn around and see Ezekiel and Jeremiah approaching me.
"Well, I have to go back and oversee the cleaning," I say quickly.
"See you tomorrow at the pool," Kamila says.
I don't look over my shoulder as I walk back into the hallway. I don't need to to know I'm being watched. As I reach the kitchen, Heather tells me she tried calling to let me know everything was okay, but it only got voicemail. I check my phone and see it died sometime while I was at the beach. But I still stay for a while, giving Ezekiel and Jeremiah plenty of time to get to their rooms and no chance of running into them tonight. I just want to sit as far away from them as possible at lunch by the pool tomorrow and fly home. Sarah and Law are going on a private jet to their honeymoon, so at least I won't have to worry about that again.
Forty-five minutes later, I grab my bag before thanking everyone for their efforts and saying goodbye to Heather. I walk up to the twelfth floor, throwing my head back, more than ready to take off these heels and this dress. Ready to take every single pin out of my hair and undo it from this too-tight bun. Ready to get away for a while from a room filled with the crazy energy that Ezekiel and Jeremiah give off, which keeps me constantly on my toes.
The elevator doors open, and my heels make a thud with each step down the hallway. I reach my room and refuse to look at the door, as if they're peering through the peephole right now to catch me watching. However, I can hear them as I search my bag for my room key. Jeremiah tells Ezekiel to leave the TV on the channel he's watching. Ezekiel tells him to fuck off because he's not watching a show about disastrous families all night. I shake my head as I look in my bag, unable to find the key with just my hand.
There isn't much in my bag: my dead phone, my lipstick, and my slim wallet. So it doesn't take long for me to realize my room key card is missing.
“No, no, no, no,” I mutter over and over as I search my purse again, knowing the card isn’t there.
I even open my wallet, knowing I didn't put my room key in it. And, surprise! It's not even there! I lean my forehead against the door.
"You've got to be kidding me," I say as I close my eyes.
I review my options and quickly realize they're very limited. With my phone dead, I'll have to go to someone's room to use their phone and call the front desk, or go back to the lobby. Sarah and Law's room is completely out. Kamila and Jackson have Shawn, and I don't want to risk waking him up if he's sleeping or interrupting them. That just leaves...
I open my eyes and turn my head to look over my shoulder toward the door.
-By no means.-
I start walking back down the hallway toward the elevator. A quick trip to the lobby takes me to the front desk, where I explain the situation.
No problem. Do you have ID? We can compare your name with your room name and get you a replacement card.
I breathe a sigh of relief and take out my wallet.
"Room number?" he asks as he takes my ID.
—1210.—
He looks back and forth between my ID and the screen.
—Um, it says the room is registered under a different name—.
"What?" I exclaimed.
—Are you sure that's the correct room number?—
—Of course I'm sup-— Then I understand. —The room is in Law's name—, I mutter more to myself than to him. —It's in Lawson Kane's name, right?—
—Sorry, I can't give you that information.—
"I can't believe preschool starts tomorrow," I say as I watch the children run back and forth on the beach.Shawn brings them water in a bucket. My sons, Liam and Tristan, are scooping sand so Shawn can pour water into it and make a sort of trench around the crooked castle they've built. And Kamila's daughter, Alicia, is cleverly sitting in the sand, instructing them what to do. Shawn's hair falls on his face for the tenth time, and he has to stop pouring water to move it away. It makes me laugh that he refuses to cut his hair until Law and Sarah allow him to stay home from school."He only begged me three times today not to have to go to school," Sarah sighs. "So I guess that's an improvement from ten times yesterday.""I feel sorry for him," Kamila says. "His whole lives, they've only known each other. Now he has to go to school and hang out with a bunch of strangers. We should have planned this better."Sarah scoffs. “I didn’t plan it at all. That’s how I got pregnant last damn sum
Alone now, I sit at the vanity and open the black box Jackson brought. We agreed to attend the ceremony with the rings we bought. A sigh escapes me when I see the ring inside. I put it on, my vision blurring with tears for a moment, until I close my eyes and hold them back. Then, I admire the ring on my finger. Half open at the front, it circles the back of my finger until it ends in a diamond on the left. On the right, the white gold divides into bands, ending in a diamond above and another below the center one on the other side. Perfect for representing us.I take a deep breath and stand up, ready to leave when Heather comes in to tell me it's time. Following her through the different rooms of the botanical garden, I'm surprised Heather was able to get this spot on such short notice. The only thing I specifically said I wanted was a garden. A beautiful garden. She got me a building full of them. Since it's been raining all week, we can't have the ceremony outdoors, but with how beau
I complain. “Sometimes they drive me crazy. Maybe they don’t think it’s necessary. Maybe they don’t want to do it because it doesn’t seem fair to them that others can get married legally. Maybe they think it’s too soon for something like this. I have no idea. That’s why I ask.”“First of all,” Ezekiel begins, “if it’s important enough for you to bring up, especially right now, then it’s clearly something you want. And that’s all I need to know to want it too. Second, I don’t care that it’s illegal because you’re ours, and anyone who tries to tell me otherwise won’t have any teeth for long. Third, nothing in this world could make me turn down the chance to hear you tell me and Jer that you want us forever.”I smile and he touches his lips to mine. Then my gaze shifts to Jeremiah.I'm usually the best at saying things, but honestly, I can't say it better than Zek. So, tell us when and, well, what to wear, and we'll be the hot guys waiting at the end of the aisle. Or whatever you're doin
He closes the distance between them and puts his hands on her hips. "I'm telling you, you look so sexy that if I wasn't dying to hear you promise, I'd be dragging you back to the hotel room to fuck you right now.""Okay," Sarah says cheerfully. "It's time to go."I smile, watching Kamila try to hold back her smile as Sarah leads me. “Hey, I wanna see where that takes me.”She laughs and then says, "I'm sure if you want to hear dirty words, there are two men more than willing to give them to you somewhere around here."As if his words evoked them, the moment we turn the corner, there are those two men. My two men. Both wearing button-down shirts—Ezekiel's gray and Jeremiah's white—and both wearing black pants. They laugh at what Law says, but then their eyes shift to me at the same time, as if whatever their glances make me notice when they're around also affects them. It's the first time they've seen me in my bridesmaid dress, and the look on both of their faces tells me how sexy they
Jeremiah chuckles behind me, pressing himself closer to me. I turn to look at him over my shoulder, and he brings his lips close to mine."Hey, I'm making my own deals on my own terms," he says when we part ways.—Oh, tell me?——Or rather an exchange.—I raise an eyebrow. “Continue.”You agree to move in with us, and I promise I'll tell you I love you every time before you walk out the door. And again when you come home.—Move...in with you?—"I don't think you quite understand me when I say this week has been a real misery," Ezekiel says, making me look at him, especially because of the sad tone of his voice. "It felt like everything was empty without you. Every conversation, the house, me.""And me," Jeremiah adds.I'm not going back to that. So, either we move in with you, or you come home with us. Those are the only two options. Although, well, we already have a pool and a room you can use as an office, so…"Is that a hint of bribery I hear?" I chuckle."Whatever it takes." He smi
There they are, just what I needed. And they do just what I need. But then Jeremiah moves behind me, his movements telling me he's undressing. I want to turn around and look, but my eyes are fixed on Ezekiel, realizing I need words other than the ones Jeremiah just gave me. I need words from Ezekiel. I need his comfort. I need him to erase all the bad. I need him.Jeremiah's cock squeezes my ass as he wraps his arms around me as Ezekiel walks toward us, completely naked. For a moment, I consider saying fuck it and groveling, demanding to be taken to bed right now, but when Ezekiel reaches us and I tilt my head back so our eyes meet, I know this has to happen, for both of us. Because his apology is there, in his gaze, before I even open my mouth. He brings his forehead close to mine, and our chests bump together with my labored breathing and his deep one. This last week without you has felt like an eternity, Laury. I didn't sleep all night and I fought with myself all day. Plus, Jer to
