Chapter 5

“Cassandra, what's all this about? Why are you leaving? And why do you want a divorce from me?” Jason's voice sounded angry.

I growled and immediately disconnected the mind link with him.

“He shouldn't be asking that. All the reasons are already clear. I've even written about all his cheating in the divorce papers.”

“Cass, what's wrong?” Alaric asked, now standing near me.

Hearing his deep voice, I was immediately startled and turned toward him. Alaric looked very worried.

“Oh, Alaric.”

“Are you okay, Cass?”

I was silent for a moment. I didn't want to talk about my problems with Jason, but I had nowhere to turn except Alaric.

He wasn't only my childhood friend. He was also the person who had always stayed by my side when I lost my family and became an orphan. Even though he was the heir of the Silvermoon Pack, he had never been arrogant. He had even been willing to be friends with me, an Omega-ranked girl.

“Cass, you're quiet again. Are you in trouble?” Alaric asked, waving a hand in front of my face.

“Ah, actually, I'm not doing very well,” I finally replied.

“What? What happened to you?”

I let out a deep sigh. This time, I was forced to tell him about everything that had happened between Jason and me. I told him everything, including the Rogue attack that had resulted in the loss of my unborn baby.

“Is what I'm hearing true? Jason did all that to you?” Alaric growled, clenching his fists tightly. He looked furious.

Without answering his question, I simply nodded slowly.

“Shit! I'm going to take revenge on the Nightclaw Pack!”

“No, Alpha! Let it go. The important thing is that I managed to get away from Jason and return to this pack,” I said, stopping him.

“I'm very angry. But if that's what you want, then I'll respect your decision.” Finally, Alaric began to calm down.

“Thank you for understanding, Alaric.”

“Why don't we talk inside? It seems like you don't feel comfortable talking here,” Alaric said. Of course, I couldn't refuse.

“Okay. Lead the way.”

Alaric walked into his luxurious mansion first. He then told me to come in and sit in the living room.

“Sit down, Cass. It's been a long time since we've talked like this. I miss our childhood days,” Alaric said with a chuckle, although I could see that he was still looking at me seriously.

“We've both been busy with our own lives, Alaric. You're busy with your duties as Alpha, and I've been busy with my own life.”

“Yes, I understand.” Alaric nodded.

“By the way, Cass, I wanted to ask you about the Rogue attack. Do you know why they attacked the Nightclaw Pack? Maybe Jason has enemies out there?” Alaric asked, making me fall silent.

“I don't know, Alaric. As far as I know, our pack has never had any enemies. But...” I suddenly stopped.

Something odd suddenly flashed through my mind.

I remembered the Rogues attacking all of us, especially me. But why hadn't I seen them attack Grace?

“But what, Cass? Did you think of something?” Alaric grasped my hand and looked intently at me.

“Oh, no. I'm not thinking about anything.” I smiled and shook my head before gently withdrawing my hand from his grasp.

I had to find out the truth first before telling Alaric about my suspicions. I was afraid he wouldn't believe me.

“All right. Then you don't have to worry anymore. You're safe in our pack now, and I'll also help investigate the Rogue attack. Starting today, you'll be staying at my mansion while working as the head chef.”

“Thank you, Alaric. Ah, I mean, Alpha Alaric.”

“There's no need to be so formal. I'm still Alaric, your childhood friend. And nothing has changed between us.”

“But now you're an Alpha.”

“And you've also become a Luna.”

I couldn't help but laugh at that.

Alaric knew how to put me in a better mood. Even though I no longer considered myself Jason's Luna, his jokes had managed to make me laugh out loud.

We laughed together, enjoying a moment that had been missing from my life for a long time.

It was already very late when I was about to go to my room to rest. However, my cell phone suddenly rang.

I looked at the screen and saw that Beta Kenneth from the Nightclaw Pack was calling.

“Hello, Beta. Why are you calling me?” I asked flatly.

“Luna, why did you leave? Alpha is going crazy because you left him. The wolf inside him went on a rampage and destroyed things in his room. He keeps howling your name.” Beta Kenneth's voice sounded very panicked.

“Sorry, Beta. But I've decided to return to Silvermoon. Alpha also knows why I left because I wrote everything in my farewell letter.”

“But you're his Luna. You're his fated mate.”

“No! I'm not his fated mate. He's already bonded with his real fated mate, and I want him to reject me immediately!”

Without waiting for Beta Kenneth's reply, I immediately ended the call.

I held my head as a sudden headache hit me.

“Argh! You should be happy that I'm gone, Jason!” I shouted.

I had no idea that my leaving would have such a huge impact on his life. He should be happy because now he could be with Grace without me getting in the way.

“Cass.”

Catherine's voice rang inside my head.

“Yes, Catherine. What are you feeling?” I tried to calm myself down as I waited for her answer.

I could feel that Catherine still couldn't let go of Jason. She was still connected to the wolf inside his body. Catherine could even feel the pain he was experiencing.

“Cass, are you sure you don't want to go back to Jason? He's being tormented by your departure.”

“No! I will never go back to him. We've been hurt enough by him, and you feel my pain too, Catherine! Now it's time for us to find our own happiness.”

“Fine. If that's your decision.”

I was trying to calm Catherine down when I suddenly noticed a black shadow passing behind me.

My heart skipped a beat.

I slowly turned around.

I felt like someone was watching me right now!
