Awkward Introduction

Abigail's POV

The steady thump-thump of my heart echoed in my ears as I approached the door. Placing my ear against the cold surface, I held my breath, hoping to catch the slightest whisper of conversation from within.

Through the door, I could hear the faint sounds of dishes and people talking quietly. I couldn't make out specific words, but I could tell that there was activity inside.

"Miss Abigail, is there something you would like?"

Shocked, my body stood fixed in position as I cursed in my heart, knowing that someone had caught me eavesdropping.

Slowly, I turned around to look at whoever that was, with my arms crossed and my face questioning.

"If I wanted something then I could go get it myself." Letting out a harsh breath, I turned back to look at the door, pretending as if I was about to go into the dining hall.
