Lucas Morris POV

I watched the interaction between Amee and the guy who intercepted us earlier at the front of this establishment.

From the meager interaction I had of them, I already realized that the man was the j*rk who knocked Amee up. The one who shirks his responsibility leaving Amee alone and pregnant.

When I took an important call, I distanced myself, and when I came back, they were already talking. It was not my intention to eavesdrop, but it was also hard not to when you are waiting

Lucy Cole POVI pressed a hand to my chest, feeling light-headed all of a sudden.I don’t know what is wrong with me.Was it because I had uncovered a secret I was not supposed to know? But that was absurd! I had been privy to all of Olivia’s secrets before; nothing like this ever happened to me.I ran toward the elevator bank. I caught the elevator just before it closed, and got in.I retreated to the far side of the rectangular box, leaned back, and pressed the back of my head on the wall. Then I closed my eyes and let out a sigh, but in my memory there was a vivid image of Lucas Morris staring straight up at me, which made my pulse rise again. What is happening? Something is definitely not right with me.When the elevator reached our floor, I got out so fast and went straight to my cubicle. Because I was in a hurry and was not looking where I was going, I bumped into Maisie, who was also scurrying off somewhere. She was surprised to see me.She took one look at my flushed face and

Amee Wilson POVThe sudden dawning in Lucy’s eyes, like it was a Eureka moment, made me pause. And then it hit me!Lucy looked at me with so much admiration in her eyes. There was curiosity, too, but more than that, there was a new kind of respect.“You know, Mr. Lucas Morris was a very private person. He never socializes. As in never. He has a reputation for being a recluse. And he’s untouchable. But girl! The way he worries about you today…” Her voice trailed off, and I could feel the crimson spreading all over my cheeks.Frantically, I waved my hands as if it could dispel the conclusion she formed in her head.“No. You got it wrong. I am just his employee.”Lucy tapped my shoulder. “Relax. I am not judging, okay. It’s your business. It’s your life. I was just surprised by the undercurrents earlier, and now I know why.”Then, a chuckle escaped from her lips.“Frankly, I did not think that he was this fast a worker. I thought he did not like women in general. But this is really….” L

Amee WilsonI sat on the front passenger seat of Mr. Lucas’s car while Lucy and Mr. Sterling's secretary, the one they called Maisie, sat in the back.I was nervously watching Zeke. I thought he would insist on getting me back to the office. Thank goodness he had the good sense to stop. I did not want another spectacle. I just wanted to be at peace. It was only when I was settled that the tension in my body finally eased.Earlier, I was worried there would be another scuffle between Lucas and Zeke. But thankfully, both men controlled their temper, mitigating another encounter. The ride back to the office was silent, with only the background music from Lucas’ Bluetooth speaker as our main sound.I had known her when I visited Mr. Jonathan Sterling, but I only knew of Maisie today. She said she worked with Olivia before as an assistant when Olivia still served as Mr. Josh Morgan Sterling’s executive assistant. When the car stopped, the valet came forward, and he handed his car keys. Lucas Morris POVAfter Josh’s family left, Lucy and Amee helped me tie up loose ends at the party. We talked to the guests who decided to stay longer than the hosts and enjoy the good food. From time to time, my phone buzzed.Amee would look at me, anticipating any instructions. But knowing her condition, I almost always depended on Lucy’s help.“I can help.” Amee protested when I ordered her to sit and just enjoy her juice. She shook her head, looking worried.“I don’t want to impose on anyone. I am only pregnant, not an invalid.”Lucy was a big help. She took my cue and told Amee the same thing.“Dontcha worry, dear, Lucas and I have it down pat. We can do this. Just sit tight and be comfy with the baby.” I was glad Lucy’s game at making Amee comfortable in our presence.Amee laughed. When she did that, something inside me happened as warmth spread all over my body. It felt good. I could see in her eyes her uncertainties, but she was a fighter, and I liked that about her.All thro

Josh Morgan Sterling POVSadness filled my eyes when I saw her reaction.I knew she needed me, but I couldn’t, in all my conscience, take what she was offering when she was at her most vulnerable.I don’t just want her body. More than anything, I want her love and her forgiveness.“Have you forgiven me?”I wanted to take the words back when she stared at me with her unblinking eyes. It came across as demanding, even though I do not have the right. It was never my intention.I am well aware that I do not deserve the forgiveness, but I was hopeful. Five years. I carried this pain and guilt inside me.But it was incomparable to all the years that I made her suffer, treating her with hostility when all she ever did was love me.It’s true what they say: regret comes too late. And to me, it also came with a hard price. Her lashes fluttered, and I allowed the silence to stretch between us.If truth be told, the pause made me realize she was not ready yet to forgive me.She gave me a chance f

Olivia Barnett POVWhile the children slept, Josh pulled me to the balcony where flute glasses were ready with a bottle of chilled chardonnay in ice water. Beside it was a charcuterie board laden with cheeses, cured meats, pretzels, nuts, strawberries, and chocolates. But it was the view from above that caught my attention. It offered a magnificent view of the garden below, splattered with various colors. Shades of pastels with a verdant green background greeted my eyes.“This is beautiful!” I gasped at the beauty that surrounded me. I never thought there existed a paradise within the city.I felt him. Josh walked slowly toward me. Each step he took sent a signal to my heart, making it reverberate in awareness. Then, his arms wrapped around me.“Its beauty does not compare to you. In my eyes, you are more beautiful, Via.” ]Josh went to the table and retrieved two flutes and poured chardonnay into them. He brought the flutes to where I was standing. I took them and gladly sipped.“Thi
