Lucy Cole POV

The next day, I woke up to Lucas’ chat message. He wanted to fetch me so we could go to the office together, but I was not ready yet.

I imagine the teasing grins my colleagues would throw my way. I never dated. They all knew that, and if Lucas and I walked in together and looked at our faces, they would put two and two together and come up with three.

They would know instantly, and that would make me the butt of their jokes.

I shook my head even before I typed my response.

Olivia Barnett POVAfter that, Zeke came forward to embrace me.I accepted the hug with a fervent one of my own. It was a form of release for both of us. For finally accepting that the past belongs in the past.“Friends?” Zeke asked when he pulled back from the embrace and offered me his hand to shake on it.I took it. We held hands far longer than intended because I was still making threats to him.“Make sure to take care of Amee, or you will answer to me,” I told him before I heard a throat clearing.“Your groom is acting possessive.” Zeke’s eyes twinkled in joy. I knew that it was not because Zeke was jealous, but more because he had finally found what makes him truly happy, and that was not me and the triplets. That person was Amee.“Time to take my wife back,” Josh said.Zeke stepped back, and Josh advanced toward me until he all but blocked Zeke from my view. I smiled. I knew I looked creepy, but I was happy. Then, Lucy came forward to embrace me. “Congratulations and best wishe

Olivia Barnett’s POV“Do you like your flowers?” I looked at my reflection in the mirror and saw them.Josh was kneeling beside our girls, Zoe and Ivy.He wore a matching tux with our son, Leo, and they both looked dashing. As more days passed, I realized how Leo took after him. And recently, Leo had been copying his father. The way he picked up his fork and the way he talked, stood, and put himself together during formal dinners like today. It was like seeing a mini-version of him all the time.“It’s beautiful, Daddy!” I pulled away from my study of Josh and then at our little girls beaming. It was Zoe who spoke, but the delight was on both our girls’ faces. They loved the flowers.“At least this one did not come at the last minute,” Zoe announced, reminding me of what happened a month ago during Lucas’s rushed proposal and marriage. When Zoe declared she wanted to be a flower girl and demanded her flowers, Josh ran to the nearest flower shop and bought one for her.He made two trips

Lucy Cole POVIt did not dawn on me at first what was about to happen or what Lucas had in mind when he knelt, but when he dug into his front pants pocket and pulled out a velvet blue box from its confinement, I knew instantly that this was not to clear a misunderstanding.Desperation was what motivated him.He saw the distrust in my eyes. The feeling of betrayal magnified when the children talked about his postponed date with Darling. And to prove his point that he was clearly innocent of the sin I was charging him with, he called her and made her clarify their relationship. There was nothing personal about it.My heart stopped when I finally realized that he never betrayed my trust. Lucas was not lying to me. On the other hand, the celebration of this knowledge came with a pang. I hurt him.The knowledge made me want to berate myself senseless, but I was not permitted to.Lucas knelt and presented me with an engagement ring adorned with a pink diamond. My birthstone. And I did not r

Lucas Morris POVWe entered the hospital building and immediately drew attention, but it didn't seem to bother Josh or the children. Only I felt uncomfortable when all eyes were on me.Two men with three children were walking alongside each other in the hospital lobby. Most of the staff knew Josh and the children. It made me presume that they were frequent visitors here.“Hi, nurse! Hi Doc!” Zoe waved at the hospital staff we met along the way. They waved back, but no one dared to stop to chat. Probably because Josh still emanates this aura of authority that makes people avoid him. If they all knew how he spoiled his wife and let her get her way all the time, they would all think he has gone mad.But that’s love for you.Even the most stubborn, the most strict and ruthless man in the boardroom has his own weakness. To Josh, it was his family. He would move the world for them.We walked several hallways, with only the sounds of our shoes disrupting the silence within. Then, Josh stoppe

Lucas Morris POVIt took a while to load the three children and strap them to their seats. I was feeling impatient, but I also realized that I couldn’t. Not when these three little kids are doing their best for me.“Uncle Lucas! You are spacing out.” Ivy called out my name, and I shook myself from my current stupor to look at her.“Come on in so we can go,” Leo said, and it was then that I realized that I was the only one left on the curb. Everyone else was already inside Josh’s car and strapped to their seats.I hurriedly got in, chucked Ivy and Zoe on their chins, and grinned when I heard their giggles.“We are leaving,” Josh announced, and the car pulled out of the garage to blend into the main road. The children continued chattering. They kept asking questions, childish questions about their school and mother, and their family in general.I listened because I did not want my own thoughts crowding my head.I will only panic in this state. And it can’t be good.My phone rang again.

Lucas MorrisHer phone is dead. I had been trying to call her since she ended our call, but I couldn't get through. Every time, my call wouldn’t go through. I feared the worst. That she had blocked me, even though the voice prompt kept saying that the number I had dialed was out of range. She did not block me. Lucy wouldn’t do that. But she kept me from calling her.And that was the worst. She turned off her phone, and nobody could call her.Every time I dialed her number and the voice prompt told me her number was out of coverage, panic gripped me until I breathed out my own frustration.I feel powerless. And it scared the h*ll out of me.“Why do you look worried? I thought everything was going smoothly?” Josh distracted me from tearing my office apart when he appeared in the doorway. He looked smug. It was as if he knew something I didn’t, and that secret he held was worth a matter of life and death for me.“Leave,” I told him.He did not budge. Instead, he rested his left shoulder
