Olivia Barnett POV

It was meant to be a short-lived kiss. But when our lips met, something happened. It was just like what happened to us that fateful night, I conceived our children.

It was electric at first, but the next second it became so needy that it made my chest hurt.

Everything around us faded away. It was just me and Josh and our locked lips.

My eyes misted, and my knees threatened to buckle. But I was able to catch myself after I heard Leo’s question.

“Aren’t they going to breathe?”

It was just like what happened to us that fateful night, I conceived our children. It was electric at first, but the next second it became so needy that it made my chest hurt.Everything around us faded away. It was just me and Josh and our locked lips.My eyes misted, and my knees threatened to buckle. But I was able to catch myself after I heard Leo’s question.“Aren’t they going to breathe?”Leo’s voice jolted me from the momentary distraction of Josh’s lips.I began to pull away. Josh, on the other hand, grabbed the back of my head to hold me still so he could ground his lips to me to prolong the moment.I responded by lifting my leg and kicking him on his family jewels. Immediately, he pulled away and jumped up and down, both hands grabbing the center of his legs.He looked sharply at me, eyes glinting in anger. “What did you do that for? You could have damage my b*lls!”I arched

Olivia Barnett POVI was appalled.I really do not know if the children understood the implications of what they were saying.Me, kissing Josh and hugging him? When we both looked like we wanted to wring each other’s necks? That was so eww!“Come on, do it. Prove to us that you are not fighting.” Ivy repeated her order with a little impatient tone.“Yes, children, why don’t you do it? Stop making us wait. Just kiss and make up!” Lucas urged us.I wanted to die right there. In the heat of the afternoon sun, partially obscured by the surrounding trees, I could feel sweat beading on my scalp and forehead.“We are waiting, children?”“Why do you keep calling them children?” Leo demanded after Lucas teased us for the nth time. He kept pushing us together, making this whole thing awkward, especially since we have an audience. The four servants that Josh called earlier were still in attendance. Granted, they were standing a few feet away, but their distance was within earshot. They wouldn’t

Olivia Barnett POVMy chest grew heavy with a weight that only a mother’s pain can know when she realized that there is a possibility that her children could be taken away from her, and she can’t do anything about it.She willingly entered a lion’s den, and she was at his mercy.“Are you really this heartless?” I lashed out. My words were full of venom. If only I could claw at his eyes, I would gladly do it just to erase the smug look on his face.I hated that I was back to the position I had tried to escape from five years ago.I was powerless.“No. I am only protecting what’s mine. And the triplets are mine, Olivia. You took them away from me five years ago, depriving me of my paternal rights. It should be just right that I take back what you denied me.”Josh looked so angry. His face had undergone a complete turnaround. But I was angry, too.If he didn’t delude me into thinking that he married me to build a family, we wouldn’t have come to this.No. Josh Morgan Sterling can go take

Olivia Barnett POVI nodded. I appreciated that he built something with the children in mind. What bothered me was how it affected me. My chest tightened. I knew it shouldn’t feel like my gut had been twisted, but it was there nonetheless. Not because he built a house for the children. It was more about being excluded.Well, it should not come as a surprise. Even before, Josh only wanted the babies, not me. Didn’t he devise a plan to take me out of my children’s lives?“You shouldn’t take it to heart. Josh was only angry. That is why he said that.”I shook my head.“Mr. Sterling has always been angry with me. It’s nothing new.” I shrugged my shoulders.“Well, I only have to endure his overbearing attitude temporarily.”“What do you mean?” Josh whipped his head back, causing Lucas and me to stop on our tracks, or we would crash into him.I even held out my hands for balance, and he was quick to grab my hand despite the fact that his arms were around Zoe.Embarrassed at the static feeli

Olivia Barnett POVImmediately, I stepped back when I realized that Josh was staring not at me, but at my hand that Zeke was squeezing.I pulled my hand back, feeling awkward. Then, there were sirens. I straightened up to see that emergency medical assistance and the police were here. Behind them was a private car. The driver’s door opened and out came a man in corporate attire whom I haven’t seen in a very long time.He scanned the area and jogged toward Josh when he spotted him.But when he stopped in front of us, his eyes widened in delight.“Via? Is that really you?”I smiled and spread my arms wide.

Olivia Barnett POVWe were all stunned, but Josh’s expression was one of pain. He looked like someone had stabbed him in the chest. His face looked ashen. Even his lips lacked color, so I thought he would pass out. Then, our eyes met.I saw betrayal in them.“You taught them to hate me?”My lips curled. Even now, he still thinks the worst of me.“Why would I do that, Mr. Sterling. My children deserve to be happy. For a mother like me, that is of utmost importance, and if that is the case, why then would I fill their hearts and minds with hate? What kind of a mother would sow hate in her children’s hearts and minds?”
