Mag-log inAmee Wilson POV
To my surprise, Olivia hugged me. She hugged me so hard that I pushed her back immediately for fear that she would crush my stomach.
“The baby,” I told her, and we both pulled back awkwardly.
Olivia pressed her lips together, but her eyes shone in gladness.
Olivia Barnett POVI watched Amee while she interacted absent-mindedly with the kids and thought of Zeke. Should I tell him about what happened? But then, I felt a nudge on my arm, and when I lifted my head, it was to find Josh staring intently at me.“You look shaken. What happened?”I shook my head.Should I tell him about my argument with Zeke and how I had found Amee earlier? But that was their story, not mine.I decided that it was better if we talked about our plans in the next few days.I watched Josh and the way he interacted with his children. The tender expression on his face when Zoe jumped at him, and how he carried her gently in his arms.I was in awe of his patience when he followed Ivy while she took a bottle of water from the fridge, opened the cap for her, and watched as she took a drink.Or the patience when Leo brushed his offer to assist him with his food when we ate our dinner.“I can manage. I am a big boy.”There was so much pride in his eyes when he heard our b
Amee Wilson POVTo my surprise, Olivia hugged me. She hugged me so hard that I pushed her back immediately for fear that she would crush my stomach.“The baby,” I told her, and we both pulled back awkwardly.Olivia pressed her lips together, but her eyes shone in gladness.“I am glad, Amee. Don’t worry. I am here. I will help you.”I did respond because guilt flooded my heart. Despite my betrayal, she was still willing to guide me. It also made me wary of her motives.“Are you for real? I betrayed you.” I decided coming up front with it was my best recourse. I am laying my cards on the table, knowing full well I was not worthy.
Amee Wilson POVI sat there while the security men dragged Olivia out, wanting to blot out the image of her pleading and crying on my account that had remained in my head after she left.“Are you alright, Ms. Wilson?”Dr. Matthews asked, breaking the silence that suddenly cloaked us.I sighed in response, my body shaking uncontrollably.“Do you want me to give you a minute to think things through?” Dr. Matthews' kind eyes settled on mine like a calming balm.I nodded because until now, I could not find my voice. I was too distraught.Of course, I was bothered by what Olivia said. Right now, even before I lay on the gurney to have my baby taken out of my body, her words clung to my head with a finality that made me burst out crying.I covered my face with the palms of my hands and began crying earnestly.I cried for my baby. I cried for myself.I also cried for the mistake that I was about to commit because I was too hormonal that I failed to think things through.I don’t know how lon
Olivia Barnett POV“What?”I was shocked that Amee decided on a pregnancy termination that quickly. I knew that she was hurt and that her emotions were high-strung, but she could have called me.“I need to see the patient, miss.” I insisted when she blocked the door to prevent me from barging my way in.But she did not know that determination fueled my resistance.I pushed her aside, forcefully, too, and began to run inside. My footsteps echoed on the marble floor.“Amee! Amee!” I called out her name in an attempt to distract the doctor and her. How I wish that I were not yet too late.“Miss, this is an invasion of privacy. You can not just barge in here.” The secretary shouted, but I ignored her. Can’t she see that I was here to save my friend from doing something drastic?“I am saving my friend from committing an action that she might regret later. Please, show me where I can find her. I need to talk to her.”Maybe the secretary realized that I was serious. She sighed and looked me
Olivia Barnett POVI turned around after that and walked to the door. I was about to reach the door handle when Zeke called out my name.“Olivia.”I turned around.“Yes?”Zeke studied my face with a frown.“Why aren’t you angry? I cheated. I promised to marry you, but knocked a woman up behind your back.”I shook my head.“You are my friend. We had so many good memories together. You are also a good person, Zeke. Despite what happened between us, nothing can discount the fact that I had relied on you more often than I could count in the past. And I was not a person who forgets a good turn easily.”Zeke bowed his head. I watched him for a while, waiting. When he lifted his head and our gazes met, I could see tears in his eyes.“I love you. That was never a lie. I truly loved you and the children.”Tears blurred my eyes. My chest heaves because I suddenly find it hard to breathe. Goodbye was always painful.“I know, and thank you. Thank you for your constant presence, for being the fath
Olivia Barnett POVI was already in the lobby when I realized I hadn't checked my phone, so I took it from my pocket and was surprised by the many missed calls.Checking the caller log, I immediately felt guilty.Zeke had been calling me numerous times, but because I was attending to Grandpa Jonathan, I was not able to check on him. I pivoted on my feet, thinking it was better to go see Zeke first. I wanted to apologize again.I had not intended for him to be embroiled in my marital problems. Accepting his marriage proposal when I was still very much married to Josh was so unfair to him.I went to the reception desk and asked for Zeke’s room number, then returned to the elevator bank to wait.Good thing, the elevator was not very busy, and there were too few passengers waiting like me.We boarded the elevator, and I stepped out when I reached Zeke’s floor, walking straight to the nurse's station. They were friendly and accommodating when they pointed me in the right direction. It was n

Olivia Barnett POVI saw the panic in his eyes and felt immense satisfaction. Of course, Josh always wanted to be in control of the situation, and now that he realized he was losing it, his careful veneer snapped.Josh grabbed me by the elbow to pull me inside the conference room, away from the pry
Olivia Barnett POVWhen Josh left, he brought the tension with him, leaving all of us feeling an odd sense of relief.Despite that, he left a question for everyone around, with me at the center. No one understood what the tension was all about, but they could feel it.I was waiting for Josh to divul
Olivia Barnett POVThe next morning, even before the first rays of sunlight appeared, I woke Lucy so we could go.She looked surprised when her eyes ran over me. It was probably because I had already taken off my hospital gown and was dressed in my clothes from the day before.Lucy got up, yawning.
