Maya's POV

"Stop." I held up a hand, my mind reeling. "Just stop. Do you think you can waltz back into my life and play the hero? After what you did to me? After you convinced me I was worthless?"

"I don't expect anything from you," he said desperately. "I don't want your forgiveness or a second chance or anything else. I just... I need to try to fix what I broke. Even if it's too late."

I stared at him, searching his face for any sign of the cruel boy who had laughed at my tears. But all I saw was genuine anguish, a pain that seemed to match my own.

"I spent the last year working with refugees in Eastern Europe," he continued when I didn't respond. "I saw real suffering, real loss. People who had lost everything but still found ways to be kind to strangers. And all I could think about was how I had everything, money, privilege, opportunities and I used it all to hurt someone who had done nothing but love me."

"Love you?" The words came out strangled. "You think I loved you?"

Victoria's POV"Videos of her public breakdowns, witness statements from other students about concerning behavior, records of academic performance decline, evidence of increasingly poor judgment in her personal relationships." I was making half of it up, but I needed him to believe Maya was genuinely dangerous."I see. And you believe she needs to be removed from the university environment?""For her own safety, yes. And potentially for the safety of others. Maya has been making increasingly erratic decisions, targeting people she sees as enemies, building alliances with individuals who may not have her best interests at heart. I'm afraid she might do something she can't take back."The silence stretched so long I wondered if the call had disconnected. When Marcus finally spoke, his voice had changed completely. Gone was the concerned uncle; in its place was something cold and calculating."Miss Sterling, these are very serious allegations you're making about my niece. You're suggesti

Victoria's POVI paced across my penthouse dorm suite, my designer heels clicking against the marble floor with each agitated step. The private investigator I'd hired to monitor Maya's activities had just delivered news that made my blood run cold: Maya Blackwood and Lyra Brooks had been meeting secretly with Isabella Rodriguez, the meddlesome student body president who'd been asking too many questions about university finances. My perfectly manicured hands trembled as I scrolled through the photos on my phone. There they were, huddled together in the student government conference room with laptops and documents spread across the table. They looked like conspirators planning a revolution, which was exactly what they were doing."Damn it," I muttered, throwing my phone onto my Italian leather couch.Everything I'd worked for, everything I'd carefully orchestrated over the past months, was in jeopardy. I'd been so close to completely destroying Maya's reputation and clearing the path fo

Isabella's POV The room went quiet as the implications sank in. Maya stared at my laptop screen, processing what she was seeing."Why should we trust you?" she asked. "How do we know you won't just take our information and publish a story that destroys what's left of my privacy?"Fair question. I'd been expecting it."Because destroying you serves no purpose," I said honestly. "You're the victim here, not the villain. The real story isn't 'unstable students have breakdown’, its 'wealthy family uses university resources to systematically torment scholarship students.' One story makes you look bad. The other makes you look like a survivor of something horrible."Maya was studying my face, clearly trying to decide if she could trust me. "And what do you get out of this?""Recognition as a serious journalist who can handle complex investigations. A story that could win awards and launch my career. And," I paused, "the satisfaction of taking down rich bullies who think they can buy their

Isabella Rodriguez's POVWhile most students were still sleeping off last night's parties or cramming for finals, I was already three cups of coffee deep and halfway through reviewing the budget discrepancies that had been bothering me for weeks.Being student body president wasn't just about organizing homecoming events and mediating dorm disputes. Not for me, anyway. I'd run on a platform of transparency and accountability, promising to dig into the university's shadier practices. Most students had voted for me because I looked good on paper, first-generation college student, scholarship kid, editor of the campus newspaper. They probably thought I'd be grateful enough for the opportunity to keep my head down and play nice. They were wrong.I was knee-deep in financial records when my phone buzzed with a notification from the campus gossip app. Another video of Maya Blackwood, this time collapsing at the Spring Festival while three men fought over her like she was a prize to be won.

Maya's POV "Look at this," Lyra said, pointing to a message from months ago. "This is from before you even met Professor Blackthorne."Victoria Sterling: The new scholarship girl is going to be a problem. She's exactly the type of broken bird that bleeding hearts like Ronan go for. Need to nip this in the bud before she gets her claws into him."She targeted me from day one," I said, feeling sick. "Before I'd even done anything wrong.""Victoria sees any attractive woman as competition," Lyra explained. "But you were special, you had the tragic backstory, the intelligence, the vulnerability that she knew would appeal to Ronan. She couldn't compete with that, so she decided to destroy it instead."I rubbed my temples, feeling a headache building. "How do we use this? Even if we expose her group chat, she'll just claim it was harmless gossip, not actual harassment.""That's where this comes in," Lyra said, pulling up a new folder on her laptop. "Financial records. She's been using her

Maya's POVThe campus library was nearly empty at midnight, which was exactly why I'd chosen it for this meeting. Lyra sat across from me at one of the back tables, her laptop open between us, and for a moment it felt like we were eighteen again, pulling an all-nighter before finals. Except now, instead of studying together, we were plotting to take down someone who'd been systematically destroying my life."Victoria's been more careless in the group chat than I expected," Lyra said, scrolling through months of messages. "Look at this."She turned her laptop screen toward me, showing a conversation from three weeks ago.Victoria Sterling: Need someone reliable to "accidentally" spill coffee on Maya's presentation materials before her Advanced Herbalism final. Will pay $200 cash.Brad Morrison: I can do it. What time?Victoria Sterling: Right before she presents. Make sure it looks natural. My stomach dropped. "That presentation was worth thirty percent of my grade. I barely passed the
