Maya's POV

"She's not yours!" I screamed.

The words came out louder than I'd intended, silencing the crowd around us. Every phone camera was pointed at me, every livestream was recording, but I couldn't stop the words from pouring out.

"I'm not anybody's! I'm not a prize to be won or a problem to be solved! I'm not your redemption story or your forbidden romance or your damsel in distress!"

Tears were streaming down my face now, and I could hear the crowd murmuring, but I didn't care anymore. Everything I'd been holding in for months was exploding out of me.

"I can't breathe without someone analyzing it! I can't eat lunch without someone filming it! I can't have a conversation without it ending up on social media! And now you're all here, fighting over me like I'm some kind of object, making everything worse!"

"Maya, please calm down," Ronan said gently, reaching toward me.

"DON'T!" I backed away from his outstretched hand. "Don't tell me to calm down! Don't try to fix me! Don't pret

Lucien's POV The council members sorted through my memories like wolves picking at a carcass, taking what they wanted and discarding the rest. Finally, Morgana withdrew from my mind. "She's awakening faster than we anticipated." "But she's still weak," I said quickly. "Untrained, frightened, barely able to control the most basic abilities. She's not a threat—not yet." "Not yet," Cassius repeated. "But she will be. The White Luna bloodline always awakens fully. And when it does.." "When it does, we'll all die." Seraphina's voice was flat, emotionless. "Just like we nearly did 800 years ago." "Tell me, Lucien," Morgana said, her tone deceptively gentle. "What do you know of the first White Luna? Lyralei Moonwhisper?" I knew the stories. Every vampire did. "She was powerful," I said carefully. "She tried to unite the supernatural world. When that failed, she.." "She slaughtered us," Morgana interrupted. "Not quickly, not mercifully. She hunted us like animals for two decades. Do

Lucien's POV The summoning came at three in the morning. I was in my apartment, reviewing notes on Maya's training progress, when the blood mark on my wrist began to burn. Not the pleasant warmth of regular vampire magic, but the searing pain of a council summons, the kind you couldn't ignore even if you wanted to. I looked down at my inner wrist where the mark had been placed two centuries ago when I'd sworn my oath to the Nightshade clan. The black symbol writhed like a living thing, pulsing with each beat of my heart. They wanted me. Now. "Damn it," I muttered, standing quickly. I had maybe ten minutes before the ritual would forcibly pull my consciousness into their chamber, whether I was ready or not. I changed into formal attire, black shirt, black pants, the silver pin that marked me as a council operative. Then I pulled out the small silver knife I kept in my desk drawer and made a precise cut across my palm. Blood welled up, and I used it to draw the response sigil on the

Isabella's POV "I'm treating you like someone whose truth deserves to be told correctly." I met her eyes. "Maya, whether you like it or not, this is going to come out. That video has almost a thousand views. It's spreading. And when it does, there will be a hundred different versions of your story, most of them wrong, all of them sensationalized. Wouldn't you rather control your own narrative?" "She has a point," Quinn said quietly. "The video is already out there. We can't put that genie back in the bottle." Maya looked at Lucien. "What do you think?" "I think Isabella is right that this will come out eventually," Lucien said carefully. "And I think having a journalist who knows the real story and is willing to wait for the right time to tell it could be valuable. Better than having only hostile sources reporting on you." Maya was quiet for a long moment, her expression troubled. Finally, she looked back at me. "Here's my deal," she said. "You can investigate the Council. You

Isabella's POV Maya's voice cracked like a whip. The light vanished instantly, and suddenly three pairs of eyes were locked on me. "What are you doing here?" Maya demanded, her eyes fading back to normal brown. "How did you find us?" I lowered my camera, my heart pounding. "Find My Friends. And I found you because you need to see this." I pulled out my phone and played the video. Maya's face went pale as she watched herself healing the freshman girl. "It's gone viral," I said quietly. "Over 800 views in the last hour. It's been shared to supernatural forums. And there's a comment from someone claiming to be with the Council." "Show me." Lucien was beside me in an instant, literally, one second he was across the room and the next he was there. Definitely not human. I showed him the comment. His expression darkened. "We need to leave. Now." Lucien looked at Maya. "If the Council has seen this, they'll send operatives. They'll want to contain you before this spreads further." "W

Isabella's POVThe corkboard on my apartment wall looked like something from a detective movie. Red string connected photographs, newspaper clippings, printed screenshots, and handwritten notes. At the center was a single question written in bold marker: What is really happening at Blackstone University?I stepped back, coffee mug in hand, and surveyed three months of investigative work. It had started as a simple thesis project, documenting the university's history and notable incidents. But the deeper I dug, the stranger things became.Incident reports that disappeared from official records. Students who exhibited impossible abilities during moments of stress. Surveillance footage that mysteriously corrupted whenever something unexplainable happened. And always, always, references to something called the Council of Supernatural Affairs. At first, I thought it was a conspiracy theory. Some elaborate hoax cooked up by bored students with too much time and creativity. Then Victoria Ste

Maya's POV I looked up, startled. Quinn's expression was serious, her arms crossed over her chest. My roommate and I had developed a tentative friendship after the Victoria situation, but we weren't exactly close."Hey, Quinn. What's up?""What's up," Quinn repeated slowly, "is that I just saw footage from yesterday. The girl who broke her arm outside the library? Someone posted the video on their Instagram story."My stomach dropped. "Quinn..""Don't." She held up her hand. "I saw what happened, Maya. I saw you heal her. I saw the glow."Lucien tensed beside me, his hand moving toward something in his jacket, a weapon, probably. I placed my hand on his arm, stopping him."Quinn, I can explain..""Can you?" Quinn pulled out her phone and turned it toward me. On the screen was a video, slightly grainy but clear enough. Me kneeling beside the freshman girl. My hands glowing faintly as I touched her arm. The girl's shocked expression when she realized she was healed."There are seventee
