Chapter 3

Author: Washing Wheat
That night, Solana bombarded my phone with calls. She demanded to know what my message meant and insisted I apologize to Tyson.

I couldn't be bothered to deal with her, so I just blocked her number.

What I didn't expect, however, was for her and Tyson to be waiting for me outside the hospital the next day.

The moment they saw me, she hurled a stack of photos at my face.

"How filthy are you, Charles? It's no wonder you rushed to break up with me yesterday. Once Tyson exposed you, you realized you couldn't get money from me anymore, so you immediately went looking for your next target!"

Tyson stood with his arms crossed, smirking as he gloated.

"You don't even mind that she's almost 50 years old? You sure are willing to do anything for money!"

The sharp corner of the photos cut into my forehead, stinging instantly.

I glanced down at the photos on the ground. They were pictures of Mom picking me up and taking me home yesterday.

Only Tyson had followed me out yesterday, so he had to be the one who took them.

Scowling, I stared at him.

"Before you 'bust' someone, you should at least look into their relationships, shouldn't you? Solana, the woman in the photo is my mother!"

I expected Solana to at least feel guilty once she learned the truth, but she only sneered. She'd already been brainwashed to the point where she didn't believe a single word I said.

"Ty's already looked into it. That woman is the richest person in Ralliopolis. Playing the connections game is something fake rich kids like you always do, huh?"

Tyson wrapped his arm around Solana and sighed, saying how pitiful she was for nearly being scammed by me. Then he urged her to look through my phone.

"Lana, these gold diggers usually have several targets at once. You should check his phone. Who knows, he might have several sugar mamas saved in there."

Solana immediately grabbed my wrist, wrenched my phone from me, quickly scrolled through my contacts, then furiously shoved the screen in my face.

On it were entries saved as "Princess A" and "Princess B".

I was about to explain that they were my real sisters—Alyson and Bianca Ravine—but she glared at me with pure disgust and fury.

"So it's true after all!" she said coldly. "Ty was right! You acted so innocent in front of me, but in reality, you're just pretending to be a rich guy so you can seduce wealthy women!"

"Charles McCain! Give me back all the money I spent on you this past year!"

My anger vanished the moment I heard that last sentence, and a bitter laugh escaped me.

So it was all about the money.

If we really calculated it, the amount I spent on Solana in the past year of our relationship was far more than what she'd spent on me.

I snatched my phone back and met her gaze coldly.

"If it's money you want, you're not getting a single cent. But if you want to get down to the bottom of who actually cheated in this relationship, I'd be more than happy to settle accounts with you!"

With that, I turned and stormed off, while Solana screamed furiously behind me.

After getting out of surgery, the hospital director, Julian Rappert, called me to his office and showed me a social media post that had gone viral.

"Dr. Charles McCain from a prestigious hospital is a heartless fraud who only pretends to be wealthy. He plays the role of the perfect doctor in front of patients, but at night, he runs around with multiple sugar mamas! Patients should beware! Who knows what infectious diseases he might have?"

The post was already trending, and the comment section was full of criticisms, insults, and curses. Someone even photoshopped my obituary and posted it in the thread.

Julian's expression was grave as he said, "Charles, you're suspended for the time being."

I dug out the evidence of Solana embezzling company funds from when we were still together. It was during that time that she asked me for 500 thousand dollars. If she hadn't used that money to cover the missing funds in time, the company's shareholders probably would've reported her to the police, and she would've been arrested.Back then, she'd knelt in front of me, crying and pleading with me to help her cover the financial hole. She said she'd temporarily lost her mind at the time, and that was why she'd taken the money. She even left the evidence with me to win my trust. And now, she'd already forgotten all about it.I handed the evidence over to the company's former shareholders. As it turned out, they'd already been harboring deep grudges against her. After learning that Solana had once embezzled money and caused a project worth millions to fail, they immediately hired gang members who had nothing to lose. That very night, they abducted Solana right under the police's noses

Tyson's trial was coming up, and Sharon told me I needed to appear in court.I packed up my stuff and went home.At dinner, Mom informed me that she'd already gotten revenge on my behalf. Only when I checked the news did I learn that Solana's little company had officially gone bankrupt.Apparently, Mom had leaned hard on the company and acquired it at a low price. Solana hadn't gotten a single thing out of it. On top of that, she was being sued to repay the 500 thousand dollars she'd taken from me while we were together.I found it all rather satisfying. What I didn't expect, however, was that after two days of peace, she started stirring up trouble again. The day before the trial started, the police sealed all the companies under the McCain family name. They claimed that someone had reported us for tax evasion, so all operations were now suspended pending investigation. These companies would lose hundreds of thousands of dollars for every day they were shut down, let alone half

"Either pay back the 500 thousand dollars, or your company goes bankrupt. Your choice," I said, using the same uncompromising tone Solana had used earlier. Then Sharon stepped forward with evidence of Tyson being the person behind the viral online post. I took it and slammed it straight into Tyson's chest, along with two lawsuits."Tyson Hatch, the false accusations you posted online have already damaged my reputation. My lawyers will be suing you accordingly. And I'm also turning all evidence of your studio's illegal acts—cyberbullying and manipulation of public opinion—over to the police! Enjoy prison!"Many of the onlookers in the hospital had finally figured out what had happened and came over to apologize to me.But Julian still refused to lift my suspension. His explanation was that the online backlash had become too severe. Even if the hospital issued a statement in my defense, there would still be a large number of people harassing it online.I didn't argue with it. I just

Solana clutched her burning cheek. When she saw that I wasn't falling for her act, her fawning demeanor vanished instantly. She clenched her teeth and let out a cold laugh."You want to do this the hard way? Fine. Then I'll be straight with you. Charles has to marry me. Who told him to spend so much of my money while we were together the past year? If he doesn't marry me, I'll expose everything publicly right now!"I'll not only tell everyone he has performance issues, but he also ran off after draining me of my money. Don't you wealthy people care the most about your reputation? Let's see who'd still be willing to marry Charles after that!"Making him marry me is your only option right now."Bianca glared furiously before cursing her out for being so shameless.Mom hated it the most when people used her children to threaten her. She was already quietly discussing with her assistant about forcibly acquiring Solana's company, but for my sake, she still forced a smile to keep Solan

Solana repeatedly echoed Tyson and even tried to incite Alyson and Bianca."I know you were all fooled by the fake persona he put on! He was professionally trained in it! Tyson saw through it immediately."I was fooled by him back then, too, and he scammed a ton of money from me! It's not too late for you to see his true colors right now. I've already hired a lawyer. We can sue him together. So stop defending him!"Her words sounded so painfully earnest that anyone who didn't know better would've thought I'd spent a truckload of her money while we were dating.Alyson couldn't stand hearing anyone talk badly about me. She grabbed Solana by the collar and started raining punches down on her."You piece of trash! Charles has always been the kindest, most understanding person since he was a kid. He was the model child all the other families envied! And you tell me he's after your money? What little money you have isn't even enough to buy him a decent shirt!"Bianca jumped in as well,

Tyson and Solana both froze in place, staring at the woman in front of them in disbelief."You… Aren't you our country's trade representative and the wealthiest person in Rallioppolis? The one who made it onto the World's Billionaires List? How can you be Charles' mom?"Don't tell me he colluded with you to have you put on a show? Charles, did you tell her in advance and get her to play along with you?"Mom's expression grew even darker."Do you think I'd waste time lying to two complete strangers?" she asked icily. "What exactly did you do to my Charlie?"My oldest sister, Alyson, stepped forward. Seeing the red handprint on my face, she immediately exploded in anger. She grabbed Tyson's wrist and snarled viciously, "You hit him? We dote on Charlie endlessly when he's at home with us, and you dare lay a hand on him?"Tyson, intimidated by how imposing Alyson was, quickly tried to back away.Solana was visibly frightened by the woman in front of her, but she refused to show it
