Chapter 1

The setting sun dyed the sky blood red, and sand filled the air!

In the Western Region more than a hundred kilometers away from the frontier of the enemy country, a three-month terrifying battle was coming to an end. The scene was like purgatory on earth; corpses with broken limbs were scattered everywhere, staining half of the sky red.

A young man in plain clothes with the Blood Shadow Saber in his hand sat on the ground, and not far from him was a headless corpse.

The poorly-dressed young man was Howard Lincoln, the Blood Shadow's commander-in-chief, the King of the West!

That headless corpse was the enemy's commander, the Mad God of War!

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

After a while, five figures quickly flashed from five different directions. In the blink of an eye, they came to the young man's side and knelt on one knee. The five of them were dressed in battle suits, with awe-inspiring righteousness while emanating a suffocating bloody aura.

"Marshal, the enemy's elite troops have been wiped out!" the leading man in the battle suit spoke respectfully.

The man was Yoel Louis, Howard's deputy general. The remaining four were the four major legions of the Blood Shadow Unit—Dragon, Sabertooth, Phoenix, and Carbonemys.

"Get up. Let's take a quick rest and go back!" Howard lit a cigarette and took a puff.

"Thank you, marshal!" The five men stood at the same time.

Beep! Beep!

Suddenly, the message alert tone sounded, and Howard took out his mobile phone to take a look. He had received two voice messages.

"Daddy, why…why are you ignoring me? I…I'm Riley… I've sent you so many messages… Why…Why didn't you reply to me…"

"I…I'm so scared. The bad guys locked me up… I can't find mommy…"

A little girl sent the voice messages, and it was obvious that she was terrified.

Howard contained his emotions and replied, "Little girl, you contacted the wrong person. I'm not your dad. Are you in danger?"

This number had already sent him two messages last night, and the content was similar to this one. However, as someone who was battling in the blood-soaked war, he had no time to handle the wrongly-sent message.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Howard received another message. This time, the little girl was already crying.

"Daddy, you're lying! Mommy said…this is your number… Daddy, am I not a good girl? Is that why you don't want me?"

"I'm really scared. The…the bad guys said after to…today, I won't be able to see you and mommy anymore…I'm so scared…"

"Daddy, you don't know what I look like, right? I…I took a photo on my birthday last month. I'll send it to you now. Daddy, you have to remember how I look, okay…"

A picture was sent after the voice message, and it was of a beautiful girl with porcelain skin. The little girl appeared to be around five years old, her eyes were so big and expressive, and she also had a pair of dimples, appearing extremely adorable.

Boom!

After seeing this photo, a monstrous killing intent exploded from Howard like a flash flood! The momentum was so strong that it could destroy everything in sight!

In an instant, the surrounding temperature seemed to have dropped to freezing point, and it became suffocating. The five young men standing aside could not help but shiver, and they were shocked. After all, they had followed Howard for so many years, but they had never felt this level of killing intent!

"Marshal, what's going on?" Yoel took a deep breath and asked.

Howard did not answer him. Instead, he dialed the little girl's number. However, all he got was a beeping sound, indicating that the call could not be connected. Howard did not give up and called again, but it was the same.

"Yoel, I don't care how, but get me to Mendorra right away!" Howard turned to Yoel and roared, burning with murderous intent.

"Yes, marshal!" Yoel did not waste time and immediately made a call.

"Carbonemys, use all our resources and find someone to locate this phone number!" Howard then looked at the other four and read the little girl's phone number.

"Yes!" The four men saluted and hurried to work.

Five minutes later, an off-road vehicle accelerated toward the frontier.

In the car, Yoel looked at the murderous Howard in the passenger seat and asked, "Marshal, what happened?"

"She's really my daughter!" Howard's voice was piercing cold, and his eyes were red.

As Howard spoke, the scenes of the past appeared in his mind one after another. He had a bumpy life. He left home at an early age, wandered in Mendorra, and was adopted by the head of the Ziegler family. One night five years ago, his adoptive father's entire family was killed. Howard narrowly escaped with several knives and was rescued by the eldest daughter of the Jenkins family, Talia Jenkins.

Shortly after Talia took him to a hotel, he fainted from exhaustion. Talia bought him medicine and treated his injuries, and it was not until the evening two days later that he regained some sense of consciousness.

When Howard woke up, he hugged Talia like a child and cried out in grief and anger. Talia held him tightly in her arms out of pity, knowing that Howard needed a way to vent his emotions. As Howard was half-conscious then, he did not remember what happened next.

Howard woke up the next day and found that Talia had left, leaving behind a note. She told him that the man who killed his adoptive father might find him here soon, and he should leave Mendorra as soon as possible and never return. Additionally, Talia also informed that she took his dragon-shaped jade pendant, keeping it as a memento.

Initially, Howard only regarded Talia as a savior, and he thought that if he had the opportunity in the future, he must repay her for saving his life. Yet, when he saw the jade pendant held by the little girl just now, he understood everything.

That night five years ago, Howard had done an inhuman act. Not only did he hurt Talia, but he also got her pregnant! What made him even more regretful was that his daughter had asked for his help since yesterday, but he thought it was a wrong message!

"I'm really scared. The…the bad guys said after to…today, I won't be able to see you and mommy anymore…I'm so scared…"

Recalling his daughter's voice full of despair, Howard felt an excruciating pain in his heart, and he wanted to slap himself! Not only was he a bad husband, but he was also a horrible father!

King of the West? Lord of the Shadow Sect? Those titles were nothing but rubbish! He could not even protect his own daughter, and he did not deserve to be called a father!

"Marshal, allow us to follow you to Mendorra!"

An hour later, the off-road vehicle rushed into a controlled airport, and Yoel led the four generals to shout at the same time.

Along the way, they also got a general understanding of the matter, and they were also filled with killing intent. Someone dared to attack the marshal's daughter? Were they trying to dig their own grave as well as their families'?!

"Yoel will follow me, while the four of you will stay in the Western Region to deal with the aftermath. If you disobey, you'll be dealt with by military law!" Howard reminded them with a deep voice, and he rushed into the plane with Yoel close behind him.

Two minutes later, a fighter jet shot straight into the sky, piercing the sky like a bolt of lightning and flying directly toward Mendorra.
