Chapter 3

Lucas reeked of alcohol. Wrapping his arms around me from behind as if nothing had happened during the day, he spoke in a low and deep voice.

"Anna, I'll keep Emily and Kyle living outside the pack. They won't threaten your position as Luna. Why make things so difficult for her? Just give a little, okay? We can still carry on with our happy life together."

Give a little? I had done that before, and what I got in return was a pup he had with Emily who had already grown so big.

And because of one baseless accusation from Emily, my poor Leon was now trapped in that cold and brutal punishment camp.

I pushed him away, but he lifted me and sat me on the table instead. His eyes were filled with lust. "Anna, let's have another pup—a daughter. Once you're busy taking care of two pups, you won't have time to dwell on all this nonsense."

"No!"

I struggled, but the smile on Lucas' lips only grew deeper. He forced himself between my legs, grabbed both my wrists with one hand, and shoved me backward, pinning me down on the table.

"Let go of me, you bastard!"

With his other hand, he yanked my underwear off. I kicked wildly and accidentally struck his erect groin.

"Ah!" Lucas cried out in pain.

The moment he let go, I sat up and slapped him across the face with all my strength. "Have you gone mad?"

Lucas froze and stared at me in disbelief.

I shoved him away, pulled out the bond severance papers, and threw them at him. "I'm breaking the mate bond!

"I, Anna Moonhowl, reject you, Lucas Greyhound, as my mate!"

He was the one who had pursued me for years, and he was also the one who had betrayed our relationship. This time, for Leon and for myself, I refused to spend the rest of my life in constant fear and anxiety.

Lucas' expression turned unusually grim. Whether it was the alcohol numbing his brain or that he had simply had enough of me, for the first time, he didn't back down.

"Are you sure you want to break the mate bond?"

"Yes, I'm sure."

Lucas' eyes turned bloodshot. He took out a pen and signed his name swiftly. "Anna, I'll be waiting for you to come crawling back to me on your knees."

I ignored him, grabbed the papers and my luggage, and walked straight out the door.

Early the next morning, I ordered the warriors still loyal to me to break into the punishment camp. They found Leon in less than ten minutes.

When they found him, he looked dazed and wasn't even calling out for me anymore. His wolf had fallen into deep slumber.

I dared not imagine what kind of torture Leon had endured in just one day. My heart twisted with pain when I saw the state he was in. I immediately took him to see a healer.

But as soon as we got in the car, we were blocked. It was Lucas and Emily.

Furious and desperate, I said, "Move aside. I need to get Leon treatment. You—"

Before I could finish, Emily dropped to all fours with a heavy thud. Tears streamed down her face as she pleaded, "Luna, I'm begging you, please give my pup back to me. I can't live without Kyle. Please."

Then, she began groveling intensely.

I stood frozen in place, stunned. "What nonsense are you talking about? What does Kyle's being missing have to do with me?"

"Anna!" Lucas roared. "You're still trying to deny it after everything? You're capable of breaking into the punishment camp with your men. There's nothing you wouldn't do!"

Leon started trembling in my arms, and his face grew even paler.

My heart ached with every passing second. Lucas was coming at me over Kyle, yet he hadn't spared the slightest attention to Leon's condition.

I knew I couldn't afford to wait any longer, so I got out of the car with Leon in my arms and turned to leave.

But the next second, Lucas snatched Leon straight from my arms.

His face was dark with rage as he said, "Anna, I'll ask you one last time. Will you hand Kyle over or not?"
