Dexter remained seated in solitude within the restaurant for a considerable duration.

It was still drizzling persistently, showing no sign of letting up even as twilight deepened. Though the March rain had nourished the earth, it couldn't reach the aching silence within Dexter. His hand remained in constant motion, toying with "Leanore Dream," the ruby bracelet—with Eleanor in mind.
