Chapter 461

Author: Light Breeze
"The baby's coming," Eleanor said, gritting her teeth while gripping Dexter's hand tightly.

Dexter had no experience with childbirth, but as he looked at her body, he noticed the water dripping through her nightgown. He understood that her water had broken.

He tightened his grip on her hand. "Don't be scared. I'll take you to the hospital."

In the middle of the night, the Hall residence was suddenly thrown into chaos. Layla threw on a coat and came out, the two young children trailing behind her.

She insisted on coming to the hospital as well. Dexter carefully carried Eleanor to the back seat of the car and said gently, "Please stay here to look after the kids. I'll go with her. I'll ask my family to come over and help. Don't worry, I won't let Eleanor suffer."

Layla was still feeling uneasy when a clear voice chimed in. "I'll go with you."

It was Sawyer. The boy carried a faint scent of pine. He climbed into the car and sat beside his stepmother. He clasped her hand tightly, his

On the same night, Dexter went back to the VIP ward at about 10:00 pm, which was a little later than usual. Eleanor and Tessa were both awake, but Sawyer took Tina home today. Maisie missed her little sister. It was warm and cozy in the ward, and the familiar scent of baby formula filled the air. Underneath the soft, amber glow, she leaned against the headboard as she breastfed Tessa. Hungry gulps disturbed the silence, sometimes hurried, sometimes eager. The sound made him relax slightly, and his Adam's apple bobbed uncontrollably. The three of them were left alone tonight. Dexter stood by the door and stared for a while. Afterward, he closed the door gently, walked over, and sat by the side of the bed. Fixing his eyes on Eleanor, he spoke in an impossibly tender voice. "Did Russell drop by today?"She shifted to the side a little, blocking him from the view of her nipples, her voice barely a whisper, "Did Tina tell you about it, or did you arrange someone to watch us?"

Tina only understood half of it. What she knew was that Eleanor loved Michael. She constantly caught glimpses of her staring at his picture and spacing out. Eleanor also frequently stared at the ring on her finger. Leaning on Eleanor's shoulder, Tina said softly, "I miss Dad too."Eleanor's heart was filled with love and compassion. Pulling Tina closer, she pressed her face against hers. On the other side, Russell had just gotten back to his car. He fully intended to keep it a secret from Emily, but she caught the scent on him nonetheless. So, she drilled him right there in the car. "Did you go over and see the bitch?"Russell responded coldly, "Mind your tongue. She's your sister."Emily sneered. "I don't have a sister like that. Back then, I begged her to buy me some wedding gifts, and yet she just wouldn't do it."I'm her only younger sister, but her heart is just made of stone, and now you expect me to think of her as my elder sister? No, I'm not going to take this!"Rus

Dexter, Eleanor, and the kids returned to the ward, but things were still a little awkward between them. They deliberately chose to keep quiet about what happened in the check-up room. Tina was the only person jumping with joy. She didn't have to go to school and had thought of the hospital as her home. That said, she was well-behaved. As Eleanor rested, she obediently read her books on the couch or leaned over the crib to look at Tessa. From time to time, she would even hand Eleanor a diaper or something, faithfully taking on the role of a little helper. The check-up was over, and Dexter left for his company. The ward was serene and quiet once again. All of a sudden, a series of door-rapping disturbed the peace. Tina shot to her feet and volunteered eagerly. "I'll get the door."Opening the door, she found herself staring at the same older man, whom she vaguely remembered to be her mom's ex-boyfriend.It was none other than Russell. There was a fruit basket in his hand, and

Eleanor turned sideways and said to Dexter, "Let's head inside."As they walked into the VIP special check-up room, Emily cried out at her, cursing and shouting. "Eleanor, you're the reason my marriage turned out to be a mess. Why don't you do the world a favor and kill yourself already?"Turning around, Eleanor responded, "Shouldn't it be the unhappy people who kill themselves? I'm having a good life, and I intend to live every moment of it."Emily could feel her tears freezing on her cheeks. The people around her were pointing at her, muttering, and looking down on her. …In the VIP check-up room, a lady doctor took Eleanor inside for the check-up after leaving Tessa in Dexter's care. She hadn't kept up with the news, and she said casually, "I'm going to need the father to make sure the baby's neck is resting on his hand."Dexter's heart surged with joy when he heard the word "father." Holding Tessa in his arms, he sat on the couch as Tina leaned against him. In a spirit of

The entire place was thrust into an abrupt silence. The ordinary patients were awestruck by just how insanely wealthy Dexter and Eleanor were. Spending 50 thousand or 100 thousand dollars on postnatal care was considered exuberant and earned them bragging rights in front of their friends and family. However, Eleanor spent 450 thousand dollars on hospitalization alone. Just how rich was she supposed to be?After an uncomfortable silence, Emily stubbornly forced a smile. "We also chose a wonderful package for my labor. It was a painless labor."True to form as a glory hound, she insisted on taking the 80-thousand-dollar package, which turned out to be quite useless. However, Emily believed that the Shelton family owed it to her to spend that kind of money. Only by spending their money did she feel secure about her position in the Shelton family. Eleanor's wealth and even her very presence were a bane to Emily's existence. She seemed to be leading a good life, even after Michael

Dexter was exhausted, but he scooped Tina up with one hand and asked her questions as he walked. She didn't keep her guard up around him and told him everything she knew, which amused him. As he let out a low chuckle, he exuded maturity and charm. Every nurse who passed him by stole glances at him, wondering who he was. After all, the black limousine on the first floor was exceedingly glamorous. It was night, and Eleanor was feeding Tessa. The window was ajar, and a gentle breeze slipped through the cracks, bringing some stifling heat into the room. Fortunately, the chill from the air conditioner kept it at bay and cooled off the room, making it comfortable. This was the third day after her labor, and Eleanor took a shower, washing her long hair meticulously with shampoo. Afterward, she felt refreshed and much more at ease. Even Tessa could smell the sweet scent when she held her mom.Eleanor's long hair cascaded over her back as she lowered her head and gazed at Tessa, her expr
