The melody of closing doors and familiar voices murmuring roused Mj from her deep sleep. She sat up in the back seat and began rubbing her eyes. The back door popped open, and she yawned, “please tell me we stopped some place I can pee Mox, I feel like I have been asleep for a week,” she declared, but Mj’s eyes snapped open as the husky laugh of her Alpha floated in through the open door. The sound of Moxie’s voice rang out from behind Azreal’s smiling face, “it wasn't a whole week,” the hunter mused and Mj rolled her still foggy eyes as Azreal offered her his palm. Mj stood with her arms crossed as Ace and Dr. Pearl tried not to laugh, “real fuckin funny John,” the assassin hissed at the chortling pair, causing the doctor to immediately snap the blood stained lab coat he was still wearing as he composed himself. Ace stood leaning against a dark SUV waiting impatiently for Mj as Moxie and Jay remained off to the side, sparring in the dirt. The double doors to the pack house peaked open long enough for Mj and Sam to slip out and pull the doors closed behind them, “about time assassin, what the hell took you so long?” he asked impatiently and as Sam began to apologize in a small voice Mj stopped her, “Sammie, don’t apologize to Commander crank-ass you did nothing wrong, he is waiting for me,” she said as sweetly as possible and waited for Sam to nod silently before the now meek hunter scurried back into the pack house. She went from anxiously perched on the chair waiting for any signs of life from their captive to slumped into the far corner of the SUV staring out the window. The concerned Cajun opened his mouth to speak when Ace tapped the brakes, sending him flopping into the rear of Ace’s seat. Moxie scowled at the commander but swallowed any and all insults when a strange but hauntingly familiar apartment building floated into view. Mj started washing the blood from her swollen hands when Moxie’s knowing grin crowded the doorway to the bathroom she was standing in, “Me, Jay and Tanner are getting ready to take off sha,” he drew out in an a practically bored tone, and she nodded, mindlessly agitating her fingers beneath the running water. Jay lightly touched Moxie on the shoulder, “you almost ready?” he asked and Moxie only shook his head lazily before slinking away from the door. Jay watched his sister turn off the water before turning to shake them dry, “get a towel,” he laughed as his face and chest were peppered with small droplets of water, but the jovial exchange began and ended with Jay as his sister stood in front of him with very little color in her face and absolutely no expression on her face. Jay straightened his shoulders and blocked the assassin’s exit completely, causing the alarmingly calm woman to cock her skull to the side and slowly look up into his eyes.
