Let Her Starve for Love Chapter 10
He said he wanted to take me to meet someone. He brought me to his family's shrimp farm.We walked past the shrimp sheds into a small courtyard. It was full of flowers and plants, pretty as a painting.A beautiful young woman was trimming some branches. When she saw us come in, she quickly got up to greet us.She looked so familiar, but I couldn't remember her name. She tried to gesture something to me, her face flushing red with the effort.Owen quickly stepped in. "This is Mia, my little sister."It all came back to me at once. She'd been my desk mate in elementary school. But why couldn't she talk?Owen told me that when Mia was in fourth grade, a few local thugs had attacked her.Afraid it would come out, they cut out her tongue and dumped her in an abandoned brick kiln.By the time he found her, she was barely alive. He reported it to the police, but the town mayor, who ran everything, blocked the case, and it went nowhere. He went after the thugs to get revenge for h

When the relatives saw Sienna, shriveled like a mummy, they all blamed my parents for not taking care of their daughter.Something that serious had happened to Sienna, and her own parents hadn't even known. The aunts and uncles who'd come to the dinner celebrating Sienna hitting seventy-seven pounds were the loudest."You should've stopped her at seventy-seven pounds, and you let her keep going?"My parents answered almost in unison. "Only Erin knew Sienna was still losing weight."But as the older sister, not only did she not stop her, she helped her hide it. She didn't act like a big sister at all."It was the same old line, again. But this time, I wasn't taking it.I pulled up the records of Mom's transfers to Sienna and showed the relatives."Sienna ended up like this because Mom and Dad spoiled her. If they hadn't casually wired her thirty thousand dollars, how could she have afforded to rent a place in Harbor City and starve herself?"They didn't care about her health.

I wrote a long post titled "The Truth About the Skeleton Bride: A Sister's Confession in Blood and Tears" and put it online along with the chain of evidence I'd prepared long ago.As it happened, today was the day that, in my previous life, Damon had made a big public announcement of his engagement, and Sienna had smothered me to death. This time around, I'd be the one with a surprise for them. There was no way I was letting a scumbag like Damon off the hook.I posted all of his chats with Sienna online.I circled his disgusting messages pushing her to lose weight in bright red so no one could miss them."Honestly, I'm into that fragile, sickly look. The thinner the better. Ideally, I'd be able to see bone.""Look at those models overseas. Now that's art."I also posted the letter he'd written her, along with the sexually suggestive messages and videos he'd sent her before. The evidence was undeniable, and the internet was in an uproar. The same people who'd been laughing at

Sienna's body had suffered serious damage, especially her stomach and intestines, which had shrunk from going so long without food. The doctor said her follow-up treatment, nutritional support, and rehab would cost a lot, and told my parents to brace themselves. But they'd already spent all their savings on Sienna's wedding fund. The hospital gave them an ultimatum: if they didn't pay soon, they'd stop her medication.Mom video-called me for help.On the screen, Sienna was barely recognizable. Her eyes had sunk into two black holes, her cheekbones jutted out, and her lips were dry, cracked, and peeling. When she saw me, a venomous light suddenly blazed in her dull eyes, and she struggled to sit up."It's you... You did this to me..."You knew... Damon was a liar... and you still pushed me to lose weight..."She was gasping for air."You're jealous of me... jealous that Mom and Dad love me... jealous that I'm prettier than you... You wanted to ruin me!"Mom had meant for her

"It's you! This is all your fault!"Dad sprayed spit all over my face, his eyes bloodshot."You knew Damon was lying to her, and you still egged her on to lose weight!"Now she's lying in there, and you're paying for every last bit of it!""What does that have to do with me? Where would I get that kind of money?"Mom wiped her tears, but her mind was still working."Go ask Owen for it. He's got money."I looked at them coldly and pried Dad's fingers off me one by one."Dad, you can't put it that way."Sienna's an adult. Losing weight was her own choice, and she has to take responsibility for what she does."Besides, weren't you two all for it in the first place?"Looking at Dad's face, twisted with rage, I let a mocking smile curl my lips."You always said any suffering was worth it to marry into money."Now there's just a little more suffering than you expected, and you can't take it?""I don't care! You caused this mess, so you're finding the money!"Hand over all your

The moment she unfolded the letter, her face went white, and she dropped to the ground. She stared at the words on the page and didn't make a sound. The crowd, who loved nothing more than a spectacle, started egging her on."Read it out loud! Is it the rich boy's marriage proposal?""Don't be shy, gorgeous! Let us share the good luck!"Someone was livestreaming on their phone."Hey, everybody, this is the girl who starved herself down to fifty-seven pounds for love! Look how emotional she is!"Sienna sat on the ground, completely lost. Then she suddenly tried to stuff the letter into her mouth.I hurried over to "rescue" her.I slid the crumpled letter out of her hand, gently but firmly."I'm her sister. I'll read it for her."Sienna scrambled up and lunged to grab it, but I dodged her."Sienna, I never liked you. I told you to get down to seventy-seven pounds purely so you'd take the hint and back off."And you actually took it seriously!"Bursting with righteous anger,
